  1. Check the 4th post. Unfortunately, they extended Hendry. Hendry's love for Baker :: Baker's love for Neifi
  2. They may have the most capacity in 28 years as well. The weekend games will continue to be high attendance because most of those seats were sold at the beginning of the season. The money has been paid and people who have to plan trips to attend games have planned them. The weekday/night games will be ones that will first have attendance impacted by losing.
  3. In terms of this season, Prior was placed on the 15-day DL on March 27, which should mean that he'd be eligible to come off ... yesterday or today ... Chicago Cubs Optioned RHP David Aardsma, RHP Angel Guzman and RHP Jae Kuk Ryu to Triple-A Iowa; Returned C Casey Kopitzke to Minor League camp; Placed RHP Mark Prior (right subscapularis strain) and RHP Kerry Wood (right shoulder arthroscopy) on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27.
  4. MLB.com Link Chicago Cubs Selected INF Tony Womack from Triple-A Iowa and optioned INF Ryan Theriot to Iowa; Transferred RHP Mark Prior to the 60-day disabled list. ------------------------------- My understanding is that they can make it retroactive to when Prior was first put on the 15-day DL ... but I'm not sure exactly when that was. It should open another spot up on the 40-man roster, at least until Prior is activated. I've also heard that time spent on the 60-day DL doesn't count as MLB service time accrued ... but I'm far from an expert in terms of what that means. :?
  5. I think that's the only reason why no one has been fired yet. Whether it's Rothschild, Clines, Sarge, Dick Pole, or any of the other cadre of idiot coaches, none of them have been fired yet. Typically when a team has been sucking this bad, some one like the pitching coach or hitting coach gets the axe. It might be a useless symbolic act, but it's better than doing nothing. It's clear they gave extensions to all of those clowns. I sadly can't disagree. I was hoping something might happen during the off-day -- even if it was symbolic (a coach being dismissed), just a sign that the Powers That Be were entertaining SOME notion that changes need to be made. I guess we're stuck with them.
  6. Heh, evidence that Hendry doesn't read NSBB. They're still just waiting on that win streak before announcing the extension. They all need to go.
  7. Monday it is for Prior in Peoria. If anyone is interested in getting tickets for the game, you can buy them in advance online here and print them at home or pick them up at will call. Here's the O'Brien field seating chart. There's also information on how to tune in the radio broadcast in the minor leagues forum.
  8. I can blame Jones for not catching that ball. He should have had it. Figure out how to catch balls in the sun if you're going to play the Wrigley OF.
  9. Dempster had a few pitches get away from him while he was warming up on the side before the 9th. Get Away as in zoom several feet over the head of the bullpen catcher (or hit the ground well in front of him) and bounce down in front of the Cubs dugout. I wonder what's going on with him.
  10. Why is Mad Dog going to be suspended? He's not. I was joking about them being the battery with an attitude.
  11. Yet the thought of Maddux and Barrett wreaking dual havoc and pulling repeated suspensions across the National League makes me laugh inside.
  12. And what's Jacque's OPS against lefties again? Also, why is Theriot on the big club? Gotta love how this team is run. Womack is apparently en route to relieve Theriot of his splintering. If he's so speedy, one would think he would have shown up by now.
  13. Bums. Don't they realize you can't rely on the long ball? Speed and defense win games, dude. Also, for what it's worth, Daytona is the second best slugging team in the FSL. Individually, Jake Fox and Matt Craig are numbers 2 & 3 (as of yesterday - it will probably be reversed after tonight). Edit: Daytona is also #2 in OBP and OPS. Craig (.423) and Fuld (.414) were 2 & 4 in OBP; Fox (.389) was 9th heading into today. Harvey went 0-4 with 3Ks and a HBP. His average is down to .174.
  14. You can start reading around page 3 of this thread for blow-by-blow descriptions & reactions.
  15. For what it's worth, Dunedin is the best slugging team in the FSL.
  16. No worries, Womack is on the way.
  17. That was thoroughly disgusting.
  18. He's blaming it on all on lousy RISP.
  19. He allows a solo HR by Ryan Patterson in the bottom of the 5th to re-tie the game at 4. 9Ks through 5 (8 swinging/1 called), 1HBP and I *think* 3BBs so far.
  20. Gallagher with 6Ks through 3. The HR was his 4th allowed this season, the first non-solo shot. The broadcasters have mentioned in the past that his ERA in 2nd innings is over 5. Gallagher loads the bases with one out in the 4th with a HBP and 2BBs, but gets the DP to escape. I think the first out was another K. Sounds like he's getting a lot of movement on his pitches -- racking up the Ks, but also a little wild. Daytona scores a run in the top of 5th to take the lead 4-3.
  21. Especially given his injury last year. :? Tonight is Gallagher's 10th start.
  22. I'm disgusted with Sullivan getting berated for his coverage if the story is anywhere close to accurate, and I suspect it is. That said, Sullivan did take a hiatus from the Q&A last season and had celebrities fill in while he was gone. I think he had some Travel Section gig or something. His hiatus this year has been planned for some time. On April 28, there was a poll over which celebrity would fill in for Sullivan. It may be coincidental.
  23. Yeech, I don't know. You can submit questions/comments to Kaplan through the WGN Radio website. Kaplan's responded via email to me in the past when I've commented. I'm guessing the email volume might be running too high for personal responses right now.
  24. Thanks! I didn't know when the due date was.
