    I don't disagree! That's my best shot at Dusty's thought process, not my own thought process.

    Here's my stab at it: Dusty has Nevin playing first because he has some pop and because a few pesky press types were asking why the Cubs bothered trading for him if he was never going to play. But Nevin has a questionable glove at 1B, pluswhise Nevin was too sore to play the field for a couple of days after his first start at 1B (riiight). Since DLee is still out, Nevin is now the bat guy at 1B and the default 1Bman. But since he doesn't have a great D-reputation and you have a young guy playing SS, you need a good glove at 2B to compensate for both. Neifi is a good option since he switch hits and has a good glove. Nevin's bat replaces Walker's bat, and Neifi's glove is better than Walker's glove. That's the best I can come up with.

    Prior is one of my favorite players. But I have been concerned about what's been going on with him since spring training. Glad to hear about the strong outing tonight and looking forward to seeing him in a Cubs uni. I have more confidence in him than I do the organization he pitches for.

    I thought that Dusty wanted to leave way back in '03 when he put Lenny Harris in the leadoff spot. But now I believe he just thinks his way is the right way.

    Their first album was in 1991! Is Sean really 31? ;) I'm sure the BA guy would have felt better if Sean had said he was 5 years old when they came out. :D I'm glad they asked about his curve, because the assessment that they gave earlier this year was underwhelming: "while some [scouts] liked his curveball, others said it was an average and loopy pitch that overmatched MWL hitters because he could locate it."

    Any mention of how Carter's defense has been in the OF? I know someone (maybe you) had mentioned that he looked terrible when I first came up from Arizona; has he adjusted any or is his play still pretty rough? It was not me and I haven't heard Nathan mention it specifically in the recent broadcasts I've heard. You might want to ask Nathan in the sticky thread here. I know he played RF & CF the other night (shifted with player substitutions), and he was in RF tonight. I haven't had a chance to get to Peoria yet this season because of a crazy work schedule. That should change soon and I'm planning on hitting several games starting next month -- I'll be sure to report back.

    The Chiefs finish up the first half with a 4-game set in Kane County. The Cougars are currently 2 games up on the Chiefs for the division lead. With today's win, the Chiefs have clinched the playoffs, but they still have a chance to win the division outright vs taking the wildcard slot.

    Davey Gregg singles with 2 outs in the 7th, but is thrown out at 2B on a pitch-out to end the inning. Third runner to be cut down on the basepaths for the Chiefs. Chirinos was CS and Kyle Reynolds tripled but was nailed at home trying for an inside-the-park-HR. Gregg & Yusuf Carter with SBs. 1-0 Chiefs to the 8th

    Todd Blackford is finished after 6.2IPs: 4H, 2K/2BB, 2HBP, 0R Teasley in to close out the inning ... and he does. 1-0 Chiefs at the stretch!
