  1. The third pitch would have been ball 3, but Aramis had plans to hit the ball into the outfield and win the game. It was outside, but it was a hittable ball.
  2. I'd say you were too late since I drafted him. :D I have to thank Eyes of Texas for sitting Ryan Howard today. I have a 3 point lead with Jimmy Rollins. He has Chase Utley.... Err, another Rollins triple and RBI. Yay. Okay, I have a 7 point lead with Jimmy Rollins and he has Chase Utley and Jonathan Sanchez. Too close to call.
  3. Yay Josh Hamilton! Another dinger! Is there an echo in here?
  4. Yay Josh Hamilton! 2 run dinger.
  5. I just wish I could get 7 starts in a week. I've had my 7th start lost to postponements and this week I lost my 7th start due to a blister. Bonderman against the Royals? May not have been big points, but last time I looked Detroit was winning 13-0. Not sure who is pitching in Bonderman's place, but I sure could have used my 7th start this week.
  6. The battle for the lead in the West is neck and neck. Eyes of Texas shows about a 14 point lead, but will be losing about 15 points in TBA by Greinke. Of course, neither team really wanted it this week, since I think we are the two least scoring teams in Roadkill this week. Going into the 5 o'clock game, Eyes of Texas has Utley, Bonds (day off today?) and potentially 2 relievers and I just have Rollins. And, there are still several other games still in progress.
  7. I'm not in love with ESPN, so it really wouldn't matter to me how much or how long they hyped it. Wang isn't on any of my fantasy teams. But, I think it would have been pretty cool to see him throw a no-no today. I can't stand Mark Buerhle, but I watched him pitch the last 2 innings for his no hitter. You don't get to actually see a guy do this very often in your lifetime. I'm not superstitious in the slightest and your "NO HITTER" had zero bearing on whether he accomplished it or not, but I just don't understand why people would cheer against it. And no, I won't be visiting the 5/5 Other Game Thread.
  8. There was a reason I didn't say what was going on. I really find it hard to believe how people can't or won't cheer for a guy to get a perfect game no matter what team they pitch for. It shows you truly are not really that big of a fan of the sport.
  9. Anybody watching the Yankees game? Check the box score.
  10. I expect to see Bonds get intentionally passed an awful lot as he inches closer to the record. Can't imagine what pitcher would want his name assoicated with Bonds on the all time home run record.
  11. I have another 3b in my line up at utility by the name of BJ Upton. If Rolen doesn't get his head out of his ass soon, someone else will be hitting utility while Upton plays 3rd.
  12. Amazing fact #497: Scott Rolen is 0-18 this week and 0 for his last 24. No walks, no strike outs, just a bunch of batted ball outs. He has had a perfect goose egg in my line up all week long.
  13. Saito is doing pretty good.
  14. There is nothing wrong with saying that Ramirez could use protection behind him. It's not really that Aramis needs a good hitter behind him to see better pitches, it's more that you don't want pitchers to pitch around Aramis completely. Bonds got walked alot because the hitter that typically hit directly behind Bonds wasn't nearly the threat that Bonds was. That's where protection comes into play. Another example would be if the Cubs had Lee hitting 3rd and Izturis hitting 4th. No pitcher is going to give Lee good pitches to hit (and would probably prefer just walking him) when Izturis is due up next. Soriano had a career high in walks and IBB's last year because Soriano was the only REAL threat in the Nats line up.
  15. Glad to hear it. It just absolutely amazes me that MLB allowed DirecTV to negotiate exclusive rights so late in the offseason and therefore created an absolute mess, which for some folks is now more than a month into the baseball season. Absolute stupidity.
  16. Cubs are tied with San Diego for best WHIP. Walks given up are definitely down from last year. I'd like to see the offense walk a bit more. Hope Barrett breaks out of his offensive funk soon, too.
  17. I think it just means that we're abusing our pitchers less than any other team in the NL. I bet after 27 games last year under Dusty, the team had like TWICE the IP. Is the stat for just starters or for all pitchers? All pitchers. I just looked it up. As I stated before, it's a meaningless stat. Our starters have actually done a fairly decent job of getting deep into games, though not much help from Carlos and Wade.
  18. IP is a meaningless team stat. It just means that between extra inning games and actual games played, the Cubs pitchers have pitched the fewest innings. Without looking, Seattle's pitching staff is probably dead last in IP since they have 5 games to make up.
  19. While the .334 OBP could certainly use work, it's the best OBP they've sported since 2001.
  20. Don't look now, but KC is scoring some runs lately.
  21. You know you are having an odd week when one of your closers records a 2 out save when your team scored 15 runs. Roy Halladay has outscored Matt Cain so far this week by 56 points. Halladay has another start to improve on that.
  22. He obviously wasn't smoking "the pot" that night. If he was, his car likely wouldn't have been traveling much more than 15 MPH and he'd be alive today.
  23. Amazing fact #12: In 86 at bats this season, Richie Sexson has 2 singles.
  24. No hitter. Anything less will be unacceptable. :D
  25. i got EI recently, and it's kinda annoying to watch the games with your guys in it. sometimes it's just easier to check box scores at the end of the day. No kidding. Matt Cain REALLY sucked tonight. Even Adam Eaton was hitting rocket line drive outs off him tonight. Luckily, Jimmy Rollins has 2 triples off him tonight to ease the damage.
