  1. The video was doctored. The video I saw showed Hopper grab the ball with his left hand and tuck it inside the glove. This video skips away just as Hopper is grabbing the ball.
  2. This doesn't apply to the Martinez deal. The ball was loose, Hopper tucked it into Freel's glove. Freel laid there motionless. The umpire saw the ball in Freel's glove while he lay there motionless. The umpire called the guy out based on the fact he could clearly see the ball nestled in Freel's glove. But, what the umpire didn't see was that Hopper took a ball that was NOT in the glove but laying on the field of play and tucked it into Freel's glove. I kind of compare it to when Moises Alou tried to kick a ball and hide it in the ivy in hopes of a ground rule double. It's cheating.
  3. There's a thread on this in Rivalries.
  4. I think he lucked out. When you fall behind on every hitter, bad things can and should happen.
  5. Freel couldn't take the ball out of his glove. He was laying there motionless with what appeared to be a neck injury. The ball came loose, Hopper put it back in his glove while no one was looking. When the umpire came over, the ball was nestled in Freel's glove right where Hopper put it.
  6. Yeah, I hope he's okay. But........... Hopper is a cheater. I rewinded my DVR to see the whole thing again. Hopper went over to Freel and blocked the view of the umpire while he put the ball in Freel's glove. What should have been an inside the park home run was recorded as an out.
  7. Ryan Freel carried off on a stretcher with an apparent neck injury. I hope he's okay. I've replayed the injury many times. Hopper and Freel nearly collided as Freel hit the warning track dirt hard. The reason I replayed the play over and over is because I couldn't believe I saw what I saw. Freel and Hopper both crashed hard. Freel wasn't moving. Hopper went over to Freel and blocked the umpires view while he put the ball into Free's glove. What should have been an inside the park home run was recorded as an out. Freel made the catch, but on the crash landing the ball came loose from his glove. Even in a moment of crisis a guy has time to cheat. Unbelievable.
  8. Moises Alou is about to come off the DL. I like his bat much more than Jones. And Lastings Milledge is also a much better option than Jones.
  9. Just further proves that it is stupid to pay a middle reliever BIG money to do the same thing you can pay a guy 350K to do. I'm sure my wife would stick a needle in my eye for free if I really wanted it done badly enough. But, instead, I think I'll pay my sister a couple grand to do it instead. That makes sense, doesn't it?
  10. It shouldn't take much. I'd probably start with: 1) Overhauling management 2) Get rid of all the current players in exchange for better players 3) Move to a new town 4) Change the name of the team 5) Enter the team into a high school division 6) Play a completely different sport that has a much lower risk of injury 7) Pay will be based on current production, not past history That would be a good start.
  11. I'm pissed about last night's game. I wasted a lot of energy getting excited about a comeback, only to get disappointed by a bullpen implosion. The good news is that there are no different ways for the Cubs to lose now. They've succeeded at losing in every possible way imagineable. Therefore, there will be no new surprises. Every loss from this point forward will just be redundant in nature. Carry on.
  12. From where I sit, they suck at night just as bad as they suck during the day. What's the difference?

    Week 8

I love getting all excited to hear that a team that I have players on scores big, only to be disappointed by the performance of MY players. Seattle scored 12 runs last night. My two Seattle players went 0-10 at the plate. How is that even possible? :wtg:
  14. This probably wasn't necessary to support your argument. Let's try to be more respectful of one another, please.
  15. Wow. I don't even know where to begin with what is wrong with this post.
  16. Why is Juan Pierre on the list?

    Week 8

Ervin Santana will only get starts at home from now on. HE SUCKS on the road.
  18. Some guys are just plain stupid. You're on your way to becoming a multi-millionaire. If you are having issues with your current trophy girlfriend, dump her and find a new trophy girlfriend. How hard can that be?

    Week 8

Buddiga is not going to be happy with his 29 point TBA deduction overnight.
  20. Jacque Jones is from San Diego. Unfortunately, as bad as Jacque has been of late, we'd probably have to throw in someone decent just to give him to the Padres.
  21. Just checking into this thead to see if Hendry's been fired yet. Carry on.
  22. I like it when the Cubs play at 7pm my time.
  23. We are only going to tonight's game. We have tickets for Cirque Du Soleil on Thursday night at the I Pay One Center.
  24. It would be a predictable move by the Dodgers. Block a talented prospect like Andy LaRoche with an aging veteran like Rolen. Pierre, Gonzalez, Nomar. It would be nothing new for them. Very small sample size in regards to LaRoche's AVG and SLG at this point, but the 13 walks in 30 at bats is pretty alarming. How often do you see a guy with a .233 AVG and a .467 OBP?
