  1. I don't like Pujol's chances. I see him breaking down physically in his upper 30's. A-Rod, on the other hand, could DH on a team well into his 40's if he so desired.
  2. I don't remember him coming back. I think his back problem forced him to just give up.
  3. He'll just be a placeholder for A-Rod anyway, so it doesn't really matter all that much. I predict A-Rod breaks the new record before he turns 40.
  4. I like the Vitters pick. Although I preferred Wieters. But, then again, I would have really preferred a super stud SS in the draft that fell to #3. Doesn't sound like there is one this year, however.
  5. Signability issues? We aren't the Twins or D'Rays here. What kind of signability issues would the Cubs have with Wieters?
  6. -25.75 Anybody ever have a worse score than that?
  7. OMG Halladay. Jesus! My hitters are 5-7 so far today with 2 doubles, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 runs scored, and my team has scored -6.25 points for the day. Thanks Roy.
  8. No, whoever picked up Thorman can have him. Salty's going to steal all of his at bats eventually, anyway. Like I said earlier, I didn't mean to make it a federal case. It just didn't seem right to allow a guy in the majors to be placed in the minors when I couldn't drop a guy to my own minors. Since I actually could do that, I don't have an issue with it at all. I'm sure we could all help put together the rules, Juan. Let's start a thread that pertains to all the rules that we need to list, and then from there we can create a new thread that incorporates all the rules into one neat and organized sticky. My apologies for the confusion.
  9. Well, hell. That's where all my confusion stemmed from. I dropped Perkins and Thorman this year when I could have just stuck them back in my minors. I thought once you promoted them, they couldn't be put back in the minors unless they were sent down. I don't really want Perkins back, but Thorman got picked up by someone else. Oh well. He sucked for me anyway.
  10. What we need more than anything is a set of rules that are easily accessible. I wasn't really trying to turn this into a federal case. I was simply asking the question since I can't look it up myself. But, I do disagree that the rules are consistent. If I promote a guy up to my major league team from my minors, can I send him back down to my minor leagues the next week if he still meets eligibility requirements and even though he hasn't actually been sent back to the minors? I believe the answer is no to that one. Which is why I cut Glen Perkins earlier this year. Can I pick Perkins back up and stick him in my minors? Which is why I ask the question. You can pick up a major leaguer and stick him in your minors, but you can't demote a guy from your major league roster to the minors. To me, it doesn't make sense.
  11. Yep. That's the way it should be. If you are lucky enough to grab a guy before he gets the call, you can keep him in your minors. It makes zero sense to allow current major league players to be picked up off of free agency and stashed in the minors.
  12. Sonnanstine and Escobar are different. Sonnanstine has been in my minor leagues, therefore I should be able to leave him in my minors until I decide to promote him. Escobar was a free agent playing in the big leagues. It makes absolutely zero sense that you can pick up a free agent who is currently on a big league roster and tuck them away in the minors. But, if those are the rules, all I can do is shrug my shoulders.
  13. That statement applies to me last week relating to Marshall. If I had I would have won. And if I would have inserted Milton Bradley into my line up the day he came off the DL, I probably still would have beaten your team with Marshall in there. And if Rolen didn't miss the entire weekend series, I might have beaten you by a much larger margin. :D
  14. Speaking of roster moves...... Is it legal to pick up a guy and stash him in your minors when he is currently playing in the big leagues? Doesn't sound right to me. Yunel Escobar went 4-4 yesterday for the Braves and was picked up and stashed in GHS's minor leagues.
  15. Neifi just needs a change of scenery.
  16. Beer Jon, and lots of it Beer? Try tequila.
  17. Lou's mom is still alive.
  18. Z and EPatt? Not a chance. Z for Adenhart and Wood or maybe Saunders and Wood or maybe Mathis and Wood, but there is no way I'd expect to have to include a prospect when trading a very young, durable major league starter for a prospect.
  19. Personally, I think they should suspend the whole team for the rest of the year, maybe longer.
  20. Fun week. Well, for everyone, except Abuck. Lots of close match ups. Sorry to beat you, NC. I know how frustrating it is to be the 2nd top scorer for the week and lose. I would have been pissed if I lost this week. Luckily, Bonderman turned things around after the 1st inning. I have lots of choices on the mound this week with Halladay, Cain and Shields each going twice, so I'm expecting mammoth points from my pitching staff this week.
  21. I think the Mets make the most sense. They could have Pedro and Zambrano for the stretch run, and pretty much make them a lock to go to the World Series.
  22. The title of this thread makes me feel a bit embarrassed lately.
  23. If you want to get right down to it, this WHOLE TEAM sucks. Why bother isolating anyone in particular? Need some "facts"? The freaking Washington Nationals have more wins than the Chicago Cubs right now. The $20m Florida Marlins are better than the Cubs. The San Francisco Giants are a better team than the Cubs right now. Have you seen their line up? That team can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag. Tampa Bay is a better team than the Cubs when you consider the divisions they play in. Kansas City is sneaking up on the Cubs. The whole team sucks. Something needs to be changed.
  24. Typically, I would say Bonderman and Santana will run circles around Washburn and Jennings, but Bonderman faces Cleveland and that team can flat out rake, doesn't matter who is on the mound. Santana is awesome at home, and he is pitching at home again on Sunday. Rolen is probably done for the rest of the weekend at the very least. It looks like he's DL bound again. Wainwright might be available if anyone wants to part with a 3b (assuming Rolen goes on the DL). I won't be around at all this weekend to see how everything plays out. So, good luck NC. Although you may not need it. Oh, and your stupid relievers don't need anymore stupid points!
  25. It was just a tough first two months. They'll get it straightened out in June. June couldn't possibly be worse than April or May, right? Huh? What? Oh. Today is June. Nevermind. Blow it up!
