  1. I'd love to see it, too. Maybe Portland or Las Vegas, Charlotte or New Orleans, or even another team in NYY. Between expansion and moving a few teams to new locations, I'd love to see it happen.
  2. if your two choices are 1) 200 innings from julian tavarez and 70 innings from papelbon or 2) 200 innings from papelbon and 70 from julian taverez, which would you choose? Thank goodness I don't watch ESPN anymore. Is it really sound analysis to assume Papelbon would be as good as a starter throwing 200 IP as he is throwing 70 relief innings? I don't think so. Agreed.
  3. No on retraction. Maybe a move to another town, but it's nice that more players get a shot at the major leagues with more teams playing.
  4. I've been biting my tongue for the most part. I still think this team will win the division. It's been a bit rocky to start off, and I would have rather seen a nice transition for Lou, but I think they'll be clicking on all cylinders soon enough. I have to tip the cap to Jason Marquis. Wish I could say the same for Izturis.
  5. Happy to oblige.
  6. My wife and I delete the bogus accounts daily off of our business web site. It is NOT fun. We were just out of town for a week and had a weeks worth of bogus accounts to delete, and I have way better things to do with my time than that. It amazes me how many bot accounts are generated. I'd say we average over 10 a day. I won't be taking Tim up on his offer to view and delete the bogus accounts.
  7. I don't know why they suck, so I'm going golfing tomorrow.
  8. Live Scoring is broke.
  9. Well yeah. If you only go 85 through there, you definitely don't seem like you are moving all that fast. That's because everyone is passing you. :D
  10. No, that stretch of freeway is extremely safe. There is a huge median and 4 lanes going each way. There is also a wide shoulder on each side of the 4 lanes going each way. I was not between San Bernardino and Las Vegas. I was between Escondido and Temecula, which is still in San Diego County. And as far as not driving right next to someone, yeah right. It's Southern California. You're going to be driving next to someone no matter where you are. Typically, I've never had any problems. Typically, people who want to enter the fast lane from the shoulder LOOK before they turn. Saying that it's my fault that someone was driving next to me is like saying it's someone's fault for getting hit by a drunk driver because they were driving at a time when drunk drivers are typically out driving. It's not reasonable at all. Actually, the person driving next to me is the next person to place blame, because he was in an open lane and could have either moved over, slowed down or sped up to give me a path to avoid the possibility of an accident. I make that move all the time when I'm driving, because I don't want someone to swerve over into me to avoid an accident. I called Cal Trans this am to turn the guy in. He has no business driving a vehicle if he enters the fast lane of traffic without looking.
  11. At least it's refreshing to see a move made quickly, rather than the Dusty philosophy of letting a horrid player like Neifi start game after game with nothing being done about it. Agreed. I just hope Theriot continues his hot streak and makes it where the only part of Izturis' uniform that gets dirty is the seat of his pants from sitting on the bench.
  12. After reading how this happened, it hit pretty close to home. I had a business trip in Las Vegas last week, and on my way there, I just about lost it into the back end of a Cal Trans pick up truck. Minding my own business in the fast lane (4 lanes wide each direction in this stretch of interstate) with a car pacing next to me, I see Cal Trans working in the median up ahead of me. I slow down from 80 MPH to about 70 MPH since they are well off the shoulder. The car next to me keeps the same pace. All of a sudden and within about 500 ft., the Cal Trans truck shoots up out of the median and right into the fast lane in front of me. I had nowhere to go. To the left were about 10 Cal Trans workers. To my right was this car that was still right next to me. In front of me was a truck that was hardly moving. I lit up my brakes and just missed this truck by inches. My wife's face was white as a ghost. She thought for sure we were dead. Luckily, no one was behind me. Good thing I just bought new tires for the car a few weeks back. Older tires might have slid. Anyway, I'm still here. Barely. I guess it was my lucky day. I survived what could have been an ugly crash and hit a royal flush on a poker machine later that night.
  13. Could be a little separation in the West Division after this week.

WTF? Ritchie Sexson picked up his first single of the season last night???????? He went longer than JJ Putz getting his first save opportunity.
  15. Can we get some consistency with the team names? When I see the standings, I see Eyes of Texas. When I go to Live Scoring, I don't see a team called Eyes of Texas. This isn't the only team with this issue. I can't keep track of team names, so can we have a reference thread that tells me (us) who is who from different pages?

He's going nuts there. How disappointing...start 2-0 and I'm headed to 2-2. BJ Upton almost matched him in points this week. Double happiness.

My pitchers took a big dump this week, but I still have Jimmy Rollins!!!!!

Nevermind. I got the scoop in another thread. But, thanks!
  19. Thanks for the recaps! A lot of good news in there. I'm actually surprised that Izturis lost his job so quickly, but am not really shocked since I didn't think Izturis was any better than Neifi Perez.

Can someone please brief me on everything Cubs since last Sunday? I know about Prior's season ending surgery. I also know Lee homered finally. I'm mostly looking for roster moves. I noticed Cherry got the call. Who did he replace? Has Soriano homered? Are Murton and Floyd both bench players with Pie still on the roster? Is Guzman going to replace Miller soon? Has Theriot replaced Izturis at SS? Give me the scoop, please!
  21. I don't mind "ESPN Insider". It isn't worth much, but it collects information from all over the country and makes for one stop shopping. I've missed a whole week of Cub stuff. Someone want to brief me on what's going on? Theriot is now the everyday SS? Rocky Cherry replaced who? Angel Guzman getting stretched out for 5th spot? Murton and Floyd are the 4th and 5th outfielders? Is everyone healthy? I do know about Prior's surgery. It's about the only thing I heard since last Sunday except Lee finally homered. Has Soriano homered yet?

    Week 4

I'm back from a long trip. Good to see my team hasn't completely gone in the toilet while I was gone. I did replace a few guys for this last day of games for the week. Gagne is on the DL, so I picked up Renyel Pinto. Is this allowed? I keep forgetting whether this is allowed. I also put Milton Bradley on my DL and put reserve Jose Guillen in his place. If Pinto isn't allowed, I do have a guy in my minors that is currently pitching relief that I can put in his place.
  23. I'm just saying that I'm staying away from the panic button at this point. While it would be nice to be at the top of the standings right now, it's way too early to predict what has happened in the first 3 weeks will dictate what happens for the remainder of the year. Derrek Lee and Alfonso Soriano won't stay homerless. Every bat in the Cubs line up except SS can hit close to .300. While the OBP from Soriano, Jones, Izturis and DeRosa aren't going to wow anyone, if they can keep it somewhat respectable, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Murton, Floyd and Theriot should be able to neutralize the not so good OBP enough to put 4 or 5 runs on the board each game. What I believe will make a huge difference this year is that I doubt there is anyone in the clubhouse urging these guys to be aggressive like in past seasons. Soriano isn't going to be patient. He never has. But, if he can hit .300, his OBP will likely be close to .350. I'm not sure we can ask for much more than that. And if he provides a .500+ SLG along with that .340 or so OBP, he'd still be way more valuable than Pierre ever thought about being.

Same for me. Apparently Earth Day is a holiday at CBS Sportsline. :D I don't care. I'm leaving!
