But hey, our fine glove shortstop sure is getting it done with the bat, eh? I believe he's below the Mendoza line now and looks more clueless up there than Jacque Jones, which is very hard to do.
  2. I think I'll just take up drinking full time.
  3. I hope Urlacher was paid $200,000 to wear the hat and drink the drink. He nets $100,000. :D

Huh? Here's another amazing factoid. JJ Putz has had zero save opportunities so far this year.

So are mine, even though they are actually playing. My hitters are 1-17 on the night.
  6. I really liked hair metal, but wasn't a big fan of "Cherry Pie". Warrant's first album "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" is actually a pretty good album. "Cherry Pie" was not on that one. With that said, Nirvana was WAY better than Warrant dreamed of being. Totally different genres. Zambrano is not walking anyone today. "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" also had a VERY cool album cover. Hidden in different parts of a drawing of a very dirty rotten filthy stinking rich guy's mug shot are silhouettes of a woman's body.

funny since that is what a lot of people refer to the giants as - the gnats. the new rules help you as that event does not affect cain's score. I don't see how it would have affected his score differently under the old rules, unless you meant that he lost out on the chance at a win? I was browsing the stats and the pitching is in line with the offense. Halladay and Rollins are both neck and neck as my point leaders and it would be a strong argument which one of those guys has been more valuable so far this year. King Felix is another story. You may need to create special rules for that guy if he continues to dominate.

Matt Cain throws a gem with 7 innings pitched and 2 hits and 0 runs AT Colorado. He left the game with a 3-0 lead. Colorado wins 5-3. Have I mentioned that the Nats are not alone in their hunt to be the worst team in baseball? The Giants are jealous and want in on that action.

It is quite possible I am the only one that is having issues with these rules. But, maybe I'm not. It doesn't appear as though everyone is posting in this thread or on Roadkill. Only 9 managers have voted on the poll. I'm having a real tough time understanding what rules are what and I've been here for over a year now. We have several other managers that haven't been around as long as I have. When I see I'm assuming that these are the only exceptions to the roster you can make. I'm probably not the only one assuming these things. Last week, Eric Gagne came off the DL on Friday. I didn't put him in my line up until Sunday night, because I didn't realize I could take a guy off my DL midweek and insert him in my line up. He would have been replacing a guy who was injured besides that (Jesse Crain). The problem here is that you have rules in one place, rules in another, rule changes somewhere else, discussion of changes to a rule that may or may not have been changed, rules changes that were changed again in another discussion that isn't even about rule changes, etc.... It would be convenient for everyone to have all the rules in one place for quick reference. I'm also still waiting for you to point out to me where I can find the discussion to allow daily pitching changes and no offensive changes. Why am I having a problem with this stuff? Week 1: My opponent added a free agent pitcher midweek and inserted him into his line up to collect points. Week 2: I had a guy on my DL who came off the DL and I wasn't aware that I could insert him into my line up midweek. Week 3: You state very clearly in the quote above what offensive roster moves are allowed, and proceed to make a roster move that isn't listed as a roster move that is allowed. I'm probably making a bigger deal out of this than I should, but I think I'm pointing out very valid concerns about what rules everyone is playing by. I'm just asking that the rules be clarified. If I've been around for over a year and still can't grasp what rules we are playing by, how do you think our Newbs must feel? Are they all aware that you could bring a DL player back into the line up midweek? Because I wasn't. Clarify the rules in one easy access thread.

Can you show me where it says during midweek you can take an offensive player out of your line up and insert someone who came off the DL? Because it doesn't say anything about it in the paragraph above.

Hey Juan. Why have you switched out an offensive player? I'm not aware of any injuries to the benched player.

i'm pretty sure this is ok, but since i'm not 100%, i dumped floyd just to avoid potential problems. i moved derosa to OF and inserted theriot at 2b. Do you only have Cubs on your team?

Nothing broken for Vlady. Just a contusion.
  15. I have a feeling that they will end up going that route once they feel comfortable playing Hamilton everyday. Freel hasn't exactly impressed in CF so far.

Can you point me to where this discussion took place? The only thing I see under rules changes is in the very last post that you made, and it's just one little blurb in a long post that is easy to miss.

Switching out pitcher rule is working in my favor already. Ervin Santana can't record an out in the 1st inning. Good thing I benched him against Boston. That's 6 runs and a crap load of TBA's that won't be counting against me in a week it normally would. That's where I think Juan is incorrect about there being no advantages to switching out pitchers. But, I did say I wouldn't talk about it anymore, so consider this discussion dropped.

Vlady hit with a pitch and is out of the game. It looked pretty bad. Hand or wrist. 96 MPH Beckett fastball. Ouch.
  19. Because Jackie Robinson wasn't available?
  20. I wasn't aware there was an Izturis thing to get into. He's been awful, offensively and defensively, since showing up last year. He didn't even have the common courtesy to have a fluke April to mask how horrible he is. The OPS is already below 600 and we might be lucky to see that OBP ever cross back over .300. Well, he did have a fluke March, in games that don't count. :D

I disagree with your perception that there is no advantage, but I'm not going to discuss it anymore beyond this post. I guess my confusion stems on how this league is run. Most of the leagues I've participated in had a system in place where they discuss rule changes ahead of time. Now that I know that rules are subject to change without notice or discussion, I'll be more careful to note the rule changes. And now I'm done talking about it.

And since we are allowed to make daily pitching changes, what is the deadline to submit changes?

    Week 2

I agree, but that's apparently what they want. I dumped all of my offensive reserves and I've now got 8 starters that I intend to rotate in and out. I have 12 starts to work with this coming week. I just have to sort out which of those 12 to narrow down to just 7 starts. I'm thinking I'll sit Ervin Santana against Boston tomorrow since he probably won't pitch anyway and he got lit up in his last start. One of my new guys is pitching against a weak offense, and should be semi effective against that team. Halladay is pitching no matter what. It was so much easier when I could just set my line up and watch them play all week. Now I have to do scouting reports and daily roster changes to maximize my 7 starts. I used the term earlier in this thread and I'll go ahead and toss it out there again. Ridiculous.

Well, Sexson missed a few games due to postponements. Rolen missed several games due to a sore back. Uggla missed games due to postponement. I would hope your infield outscored my infield. Actually, I was just referring to the middle infield, since you were earlier bragging that yours was the best. ;) But if you want to compare entire infields, I've also had Pujols, Weeks & Reyes missing time this week due to postponed games and Vic was out for the whole week due to his injured knee from the first snowstorm in Cleveland. i think it's been established that your team is awesome. Yeah, and even if I am partial to my middle infield, they aren't going to be #1 in points each and every week. Although Jimmy Rollins appears to be trying to.
