  1. Wow, were you ever late to this party. :D
  2. Yes, that makes me feel so much better after hearing about yet another round of freezing rain, snow, and sleet that's making its way through here tonight and all day tomorrow. Thanks for finally putting that smile back on my face. Well I had to scrape ice off my windshield twice in the past week before work. Is that better? Holy crap, I'm now so giddy that I've piddled myself. Keep up the kind words, fellas! And if it's any consolation, it poured down snow one of the days I was in Peoria for Thansgiving. In fact, the weather turned to crap the day I got there.

  4. From Rotoworld: The Tigers considered but dismissed the idea of using Miguel Cabrera as a left fielder and keeping Brandon Inge at third base. Cabrera wants to stay at third base for now, and the Tigers are smart to want to keep him happy as they attempt to lock him up in a long-term deal. Besides, he does seem to get the fact that he needs to lose weight and improve his defense if he wants to stay at the position. He's supposedly dropped about 15 pounds since the end of the season. Haha. That would be absolutely beautiful if they did that. Jacque Jones can sit the bench even more in Detroit than he did in Chicago. Come on, Leyland. Make it happen!
  5. If it makes any of you feel better, I had to turn on my heater for the first time this since last winter. I think it got down to around 42 last night.
  6. San Diego needs a 2b. :D I doubt Towers would trade with Hendry if Hendry wins the Fukudome derby.
  7. Who do you think is responsible for mismanagement of the team? Hendry's dog didn't hire the management team that failed miserably. Hendry did.
  8. An error king? You obviously have never watched this guy play SS.
  9. It's pretty much a non point anyway. I don't think the Padres would deal Greene. And I think it would take more than Pie to get a deal done.
  10. None. He talked only about 2B and 3B. He says Ryan Theriot is the Cubs everyday SS, and that Theriot will be fine. DeRosa loves the kid - "Ryan brings an energy that is great for our club." Energy. Yes!!!!! That's exactly what the Cubs have been lacking all these years.
  11. Greene is a good player who is extremely hindered by playing in Petco. He'd also be replacing a player that isn't good. As to your "points": 1. Theriot bats right handed. Moot point. 2. Again, neither does Theriot. Except here, Greene has a lot of power for a SS and his numbers would improve at Wrigley. 3. Strike outs? Lame. 4. Batting Average? Super lame. 5. First, defense isn't near as important as offense. Second, errors aren't a good way to judge defense at all. Third, Greene made 11 errors last year at SS, Theriot 8 (and 11 overall). Plus, his number at Petco are pretty much even with Theriots total numbers. And Greene's numbers on the road destroy his numbers at home. I believe Meph showed a comparison that suggested he would be around .800-.820(low end) at Wrigley. I'd be interested to know just what parks elevate his road numbers so much. Petco isn't the only poor hitter's park in the NL West.

Khalil Greene is a human highlight reel at SS. I very much enjoy watching him play defense at SS. Theriot? Meh.
  13. I went with Hendry, and I used some logic for my reasoning. I like it when other teams have lousy GM's. It improves the chances of stealing good players from those organizations if you have a good GM. We don't have a good GM, therefore it's not even close. Hendry is the worst.
  14. No mention of playing SS regularly?
  15. The week I just spent in Peoria over Thanksgiving played havoc on my sinuses. i don't think I could live comfortably in the midwest ever again. Since I moved to San Diego, I don't have sinus trouble anymore. Life is good.
  16. Hmmm. San Diego loves their Padres, even if they fire sale it up on occasion. Do they fill Petco when they are losing? They haven't been losing since they moved in there. They've fielded a competitive team since they made the move.

  18. I haven't heard. But, I would if I was in that situation.
  19. If you're uprooting your entire family to move to the states, I can see how climate would make a big difference.
  20. Pretty much anything an agent says is just a ploy to up the ante. My guess is that they want San Diego to get closer to Chicago's offering price and if it did come down to geography, San Diego wins. Yeah, that what it sounds like to me too. I hope Jenkins will have a career year with the Cubs in 08. The only thing missing is Jenkins coming off a season playing in Colorado and artificially inflated stats that would have Hendry foaming at the mouth.
  21. I don't. They have the resources to give it to him. The Padres know they have to improve this offseason to keep pace with Colorado, Arizona and the Dodgers. They just made a huge commitment to Peavy, and it doesn't make a ton of sense to make such a huge commitment and not upgrade the team elsewhere.

  23. Are you suggesting Theriot is the sole or even primary reason for the Cubs winning the NLC? I wasn't referring to Theriot at all. That doesn't even make sense. More so the complete bashing of Hendry, who made some pretty good additions before the 2007 season. Probably should have included quotes covering what I was commenting on: Something should be said for going from one of the worst teams in all of baseball to winning the NLC? The first part of that sentence says it all. Hendry had one of the worst teams in all of baseball. He didn't inherit that, he created it. With the resources he's had to work with, this team NEVER should have been in the position to be one of the worst teams in baseball.
  24. .380 .610 .812 What the heck are those numbers? My pessimistic view of what Fukudome will do in the US. Pessimistic? I'm going to assume that those numbers are OBP, SLG and OPS. If the first two are his OBP and SLG, then his OPS would be .990, and if that's your pessimistic numbers, I'd love to see what your optimistic numbers are.
