  1. Bears fans had to put up with that all of last year.
  2. Huh? I thought the Pats were losing their top draft picks after getting caught stealing plays?
  3. Yoda is Soriano's mom?
  4. A dominating pitching staff is key, but as the Padres proved last year, you still need some help from your offense. Take one of those two arms out of their rotation, and they aren't dominant anymore. Offense is easier to acquire than pitching. If they were really going to trade pitching for offense, at least get some guys who aren't already getting expensive. I don't know what Rios' contract looks like, but if it isn't a long term deal, he'll be long gone before the Giants improve the rest of their roster to the point they could actually be competitive in that division.
  5. A dominant pitching staff would be better than 1 decent offensive player out of 8.
  6. If it weren't for Chorizo and Bloody Mary's, it would really suck. But, because we have those things, it doesn't suck at all. It took awhile to get used to getting up so early for games, though.
  7. Hendry doesn't see Fukudome's OBP. All he sees is his left handedness.
  8. We dont have a prospect close to Cain or Lincom. Most teams would never consider trading either of these guys, but when your looking at the possibility of Ray Durham, Randy Winn, and Rich Aurilia as your 3-4-5, desperate times call for desperate measures. But what would be the point? Rios is not going to make them any better than they are now. That team is a mess.
  9. Reading that blurb from Rotoworld cracks me up. Does he not realize that with the money he makes being a baseball player that he can move his family if he so desires? Baseball is a sport where you essentially travel 8 months out of the year. I'm sorry he didn't realize that. I'm sure there's a McDonald's in Pittsburgh where he can stay close to his family.
  10. If nothing else, Bradley provides insurance if Hendry loses out on Fukudome. If he gets both, he's got a top notch outfield. Chances are also good that Bradley could be had for a 1 year deal, which allows you to either let Pie get another year of seasoning or plenty of at bats if Bradley does miss any time. If Pie ends up being the real deal, Bradley would be easy to move at the deadline. If Bradley is such a horrible person, why is San Diego looking to bring him back for another year?
  11. I agree with this, but the huge contracts to Zambrano, Soriano, Ramirez and Lee make it extremely difficult to acquire the guys you are looking for, especially since the organization has failed to develop guys who can qualify to be quality 9 inning players.
  12. come on, there's a lot more valuable stats than batting average. Is their a mental beakdown stat? You have, by far, the worst baseball anaysis of anyone currently posting on this board. You dont have to be a stat head to know that hes injury prone, a basket case, and not even an up grade over Jacque Jones offensively or defensively. He is injury prone, but that's why you keep a guy like Matt Murton around as a 4th outfielder. He's not a basket case and he's a tremendous upgrade over Jacque Jones. If he stayed healthy, he'd probably be more productive than Fukudome at less than half the cost. While guys like Andruw Jones and Torii Hunter are getting paid more than their value, guys like Milton Bradley are flying under the radar and getting paid less than their value. He fits what Hendry is looking for. Lefty outfielder with power. Sign him now and if you get Fukudome, then you trade Pie and Marshall for an upgrade in the rotation or the middle infield and call it an offseason. Done. It's really that simple.
  13. Billionaires should always wear a suit and tie?
  14. Fukudome is just sitting there watching teams duke it out with a big smile on his face. Can you blame him? He just watched Torii Hunter and Andrew Jones get ridiculous contracts for sucking. He might as well get his too.
  15. It changed because Hendry needs to be fired. Hendry thinks Theriot was so good at SS last year (see Neifi: He saved us references from a few years back) and he isn't looking to upgrade SS. Hendry's logic is what changes things. Cubs need a SS, so he looks to sign a 2b. He does this every year. He spent the better half of 2006 trying to sign Furcal when the glaring hole was in RF. He also never bothered addressing RF in 2005. After years, he's finally addressing RF, and instead of going after the best player, he's limited his search to a speedy power lefty hitter. There are no excuses left for why Hendry is still in this organization. That he hasn't been fired is further proof that there does need to be a complete overhaul of the entire organization. We cannot expect to see competence on the field until there is competence in the front office.
  16. Yeah, some of these GM's are just braindead. In 2006, the Dodgers had Kenny Lofton (at less than 4m mind you), and I won't even bother listing all the other players they had that would have been better options than Pierre. Lofton is better than Pierre without even including dollar figures into the equation. Colletti will come out okay on this, because there is another moron out there that will give up talent to get Pierre. Book it.
  17. come on, there's a lot more valuable stats than batting average. Is their a mental beakdown stat? Yes, there is. It's called a suspension, which is what the umpire got for mentally breaking down and going off on Bradley last year.
  18. I'm guessing Jose Macias and Rey Ordonez. Cesar Izturis' 88 OPS+ that year must have had all the other fantasy owners jealous.
  19. Wow. He is a big boy. No wonder he ended up making the switch.
  20. Welcome to the board. You're going to hate that screen name in time. :D Great, so we now know Fukudome is a "family" guy. Well that should be enough to get Hendry to throw another 10m a year at him. Jimmy's checklist: Speedy: check Left handed hitter: check Catches the ball: check Can lead off: check Good character guy: check Folks, we got a winner!
  21. Having lived there for 7 years, I concur - it's all frosting and no cake. I've never met a shallower, more selfish and more mentally and spiritually unambitious group of troglodytes in my life. Careful. There are exceptions. BigBadB Superstar Joined: Tue Mar 04, 2003 8:38 pm Posts: 14129 Location: San Diego I would hope there would be exceptions, in a metro area that size. As a group though... What would you expect. Everyone that lives here is from somewhere else.
  22. I'm just trying to think how the Twins got Santana...hmmm, let me think. I'm just trying to remember if every Rule 5 pitcher ever drafted ended up being equal to or closely equal to Santana in skill.
  23. I found the quote. Yes, we are assuming. But, every rumor is basically just that.
