  1. meh, i think this sums it up I'm paraphrasing, of course. Well, at least he was nice about it. :P
  2. If the Orioles wanted him why wouldn't they just have had the Astros include him in the Tejada deal? Because the brilliant GM in Houston didn't want to include him in that deal. \:D/
  3. Padres probably ask for a little more, but that seems like a good trade. Here we are again, doing all of Hendry's work. They should just hire us to be the GM. Things would be a little easier. As long as it isn't the "us" that wants to start Theriot at SS.
  4. Yeah, boy, 3 years of doing nothing. He sure didn't pitch at all in 2004 or 2005. Oh, wait, he did. Quite a bit. And very well, too. Weird. Ahhh, yes, the trademark condescension that was discussed in another thread earlier... Actually Prior was not very good in 2004. A 4.05 era and 1.35 WHIP is "very well"? 118.2 IP is "quite a bit"? For a #2 starter? Really? 2005 was okay, though. I'll give you that. A I hate to break up this lovely spat, but 2004 was 4 years ago. 2007 2006 2005 equals 3 years. 2004 = not a part of the original argument
  5. Padres probably ask for a little more, but that seems like a good trade. Here we are again, doing all of Hendry's work.
  6. He could have included Cedeno if he really wanted to.
  7. The sadness of this heavily outweighs the happiness of yesterday... I feel like I would if I lost a good friend, seeing his potential and seeing that the Cubs had the gem of the entire league and going through all the crap we have to finally fix him and then do jack about trying to keep him to see if we could get any googly darn returns, and just to think what he could have been and still might be...it saddens me very greatly. When he played he was my most favorite Cub outside of Sosa, Ramirez, and Wood. If only he had stayed healthy.....we would be world champs one of the last 4 years....so long Prior....and because it would just kill me to see you live up to your potential somewhere else.....I hope you suck. The only bright spot in here is that just from getting to know him as a player on the Cubs, I feel decently confident he will either never pitch again, or suck, so fine....this still hurts though, I don't understand how it wouldn't hurt a real Cubs fan. Another thing, it just shows me how much of a real man Kerry Wood is, that guy deserves as much respect as anyone in the damn league, dude hats off to you, thank god we got at least one class act out of the two.... Prior go to your California trash and play for a cheap team like the Padres who will contend in the most boring division in baseball (not counting Colorado, and even they usually suck) and then get killed in the playoffs. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and just trade Prior for Abreu, or Tejada, or even flippin Bedard straight up back then, idc.....or even farther back and poison Dusty Bakers food so the Cubs would never hire him and Prior and Wood would be lighting up the league.... Bah I'm just venting w.e, Prior do MLB a favor and just take your money and get out of baseball so you don't scam a new team out of a few million more dollars...unless it's the White Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, or Cardinals, then you can go ahead and take as much money from them as you want. Whoaaaaaaa. Hey. Hold on there. Read the NSBB member guidelines in my sig please. If you are confused by any of the rules and regs of this board, feel free to PM me with questions.
  8. There's already an ESPN rant in the Rants forum. I'm going to lock this one up.
  9. Now a guy has to host a celebrity bowling tournament to be a good clubhouse guy?
  10. Or Burnitz for that matter. I remember hearing that Wrigley didn't usually have any homerun benefit for lefties, but I can't recall where I heard that and I can't find homerun park factors that break down according to platoon splits. I wouldn't take it on faith that Wrigley is a great environment for lefties without checking up on that first. The problem is that the Cubs haven't had many good power lefty hitters to make decent comparisons.
  11. To say NSBB would explode would be the understatement of the year if ever a deal like that went down! I mean, he's completely serious with that post. I, uh, don't know what to say. Hahahahahaha, I guess the Orioles just release like 7 guys from the 25-man after that deal, and who the hell is Bradford that we'd give up Veal for him? I don't know a Bradford. After Roberts and Bedard and excluding the whole baseball team the Cubs are sending in that deal, is there anyone other than Markakis worth keeping on the Orioles 25 man roster?
  12. Couple that in with the fact that the NL Central has the best hitter's parks in baseball, and I can definitely see 20+
  13. Padres can give Eckstein the 2nd or 3rd biggest contract offer in team history. if one of the other two california GMs were the GM of the padres, i'd say that this would be very possible. Gotta keep up with the Joneses.
  14. Murton really has value. I wish he would play here, but I get why they are dealing him. He'll likely be part of the package that lands Hendry Brian Roberts. I'd prefer him and Gallagher go toward landing us Blanton, and Pie and Hill and EPatt land us Roberts and Bedard, and Dempster and Marshall and Derosa land us Burnett. (Just listing some of the rumors in this thread!) Imagine, if you can... Zambrano Bedard Burnett Lilly Blanton  =D> \:D/ :pig:   That could theoretically work. Yeah, it could, though it would empty the farm, and would still leave us short two OF. (A CF and a 4th OF) But, heck, with that rotation, an NL Pennant would seem to be virtually assured. You have obviously forgotten that we have Sam Fuld. He can be the CF and the 4th OF at the same time.
  15. if mark prior goes on the market, s.d. will not get him for cheap. there's too much potential there for other teams to not get involved and drive up his price at least a little bit. I'll take that bet.
  16. Padres can give Eckstein the 2nd or 3rd biggest contract offer in team history.
  17. Yeah 1/17 at the RiverPlex (same site as last year)...we havent been notified yet who will be on the Caravan. I miss those. I haven't been to a caravan since Mitch Williams attended one the year he became a Cub. Showing my age again. :D
  18. No deadline that I'm aware of. But, the Fukudome contract increases the value of the team in several ways.
  19. LOL. Excellent article. Tim would like to buy you a beer for that one. I'd buy you one, but the only time I'm in Chicago is to switch planes. :D
  20. I think it's clear Hendry has no idea how to haggle. If we were exchanging baseball cards, I'd be all over it.
  21. Chase Headley is interesting. Matt Antonelli won't be offered in any trades. After that, they really don't have much to offer. Of course, the Cubs "could" help. Bay to San Diego Greene to Cubs good young players from Cubs to Pirates.
  22. So, that leaves Mike Cameron as the last CF free agent available, right? Or is Lofton still looking for work? Cameron isn't exactly enticing to any team other than the Padres, since the Padres offered him arbitration AND he's suspended for the first 25 games. Could still be some CFers available, however. Coco Crisp hasn't been moved. Damon isn't exactly a CFer anymore, but he'd probably say he still is.
  23. Welcome to the forum! :D lawl... thanks! ahaha!! no more davern/davharm mixups? aaaa... Wrong. Now I can't remember which one of them changed their name. Therefore, they must both change their name.
