  1. I believe Alex Cabrera has been in Japan the last several years, and was actually probably thinking about coming back to the states, but probably not now. I don't recognize many of those names, but there are a lot of guys who don't get much more than a cup of coffee at the major league level.
  2. My feelings also, pretty much. It sucks, but what can you do? Hey, anyone want my Prior road jersey?
  3. You call Murton, Marshall and Cedeno a driven down price to get Roberts?
  4. From Rotoworld: David Eckstein's deal with the Jays is worth $4.5 million for one year, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. It's hard to believe the Rockies didn't jump on him at that price, though maybe they did and he took a similar amount to stay at shortstop. If the two sides hadn't had such unrealistic expectations earlier, the Cardinals and Eckstein really should have been able to work something out. Source: FOXSports.com Related: Rockies, Blue Jays Ahahahahahaha. Not quite 36m, but close. :D
  5. I doubt if Tavarez was on the Red Sox at the time he got caught.
  6. It's all speculation, but I think Prior blames the Cubs for many of his injury problems over the years, and he probably wasn't happy with a lot of things that likely got said over the years by Cubs management. I don't think Prior will be in a big market next year. My guess is he'll be in San Diego. I wouldn't doubt that San Diego and Prior had a handshake agreement in place if he was nontendered by Chicago.
  7. There's 76 names on that list, which falls between the 60-80 they have been saying would be in the report.
  8. Easter is clearly Hendry's favorite holiday. You got eggs and you got baskets. What more could I guy want?
  9. Hey Ward, we got a spot for you, buddy. LOL. Exactly. :D
  10. I agree with most everything you said in the first 3 paragraphs. I don't necessarily agree with the 4th paragraph, however. He might want to win, just not with the Cubs. The relationship died a long time ago, IMO.
  11. I'd bet CT's life that Kevin Brown was a juicer. I'll do the same.
  12. Yeah, Hendry had to know Roberts would make this list. I think he wants him regardless of the reports.
  13. Maybe it will drive the O's asking price down? And/Or maybe Angelos will lose a bit of affection.
  14. If memory serves, the Jays have been looking for a "hitting" SS for over 3 years. Offensively, Eck should be a step above McDonald and Clayton. But, will it be worth it? That depends on the salary. Jays are in a tough spot. They're not as good as NYY and BOS, but definitely better than BALT and TB - what should they do? You can pretty much pencil in TB to be better than Toronto in 2008.
  15. I don't think it's fair to pencil the Cubs in for last place yet. That dubious honor is bestowed upon the St. Louis Cardinals.
  16. I think Pittsburgh and Houston will be neck and neck for 5th.
  17. Yup, I would have rather had ONE of the dodgers players than FIVE of the Astros. Wow. I just looked at Houston's roster. Haha. They signed Kaz Matsui and traded for Miguel Tejada. They still have Chris Burke, they signed Geoff Blum to an offseason contract and they offered arbitration to Mark Loretta, and Loretta accepted. I guess Hendry isn't the worst GM out there.
  18. But, not to be outdone in this bad deal is Houston. They essentially gave up necessary roster filler for a guy who might help keep Houston out of the cellar next year, but that's about the best they can or should expect. That's a lot of money to spend on a guy to finish 5th instead of 6th. Maybe Houston has a real plan for their rotation that I don't see, but right now it's beyond god awful.
  19. It's a horrible deal for Baltimore. They got a handful of roster filler. That's it. Baltimore should have been working the phones with the Dodgers. At least the Dodgers had good players to offer. Who knows? They may still make a deal with the Dodgers for Bedard, but a package of Bedard AND Tejada would have made sense for both parties, IMO.
  20. 11:00 on the West Coast, it will be announced I trust you mean 11am.
  21. I'm waiting. I got up early for the occasion.
