  1. Saw Gonzalez pitch against San Diego last night. He might have the most annoying delivery I've ever seen. But, he was very effective.
  2. Kind of freaky that guys like Peavy and Santana aren't on the all star roster. Since the game has become more about home field advantage, I'd find a way to get those guys on the roster.
  3. I had Inoa first up on my queue, but then I decided Feliz is probably at least 3 years ahead of Inoa for a shot at the bigs. I just hope Texas trades him to a west coast team. I would have used up my #1 waiver slot on either one of them, though. But just think, Raisin, you won't be reminded of Neifi Perez or Pedro Feliz anytime you see his name on your roster.
  4. Post of the day. We are currently accepting applications for bandwagon jumpers.
  5. Haha. Probably do that to Soriano next week.
  6. Harden can't hit worth a lick. Get rid of him.
  7. Harden should help the Cubs win another K title again this year, although I think I'd prefer a World Series title more. I'm sure he could help with that too.
  8. I'm pleased to see him catching Harden today. He'll get a day off on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  9. Weather.com says 76°F Cloudy wind 5 mph WNW ESPN has the same line up you posted.
  10. I looked up Yahoo and Cubs.com but nothing that I could find.... ESPN has the Yankees game line ups, but not the Cubs yet.
  11. Bradley posted a +.900 OPS in Petco. The guy has legit power. To compare, San Diego's best power hitter (Adrian Gonzalez) is currently sporting a .782 OPS at Petco.
  12. I think Oakland's park can shave a whole run off a pitcher's ERA. As good as Duscherer, Smith, Eveland, Blanton have shown so far, I don't think they'd be nearly as impressive if they were pitching in the NL Central. However, I'm hoping Harden will be just as dominant in a Cub uniform as he has been with the A's.
  13. My wife is being a bitch right now and is dragging me all over creation for stupid bullcrap that can easily wait, even after I told her I wanted to be home by noon. Obviously she has no appreciation for today's game. I love that woman dearly, but sometimes...... My girlfriend is condo hunting today and is forcing me to go with her but I already told her at noon I am going to watch at least a few innings of the game. I define "a few" as anything between 2 and 9.
  14. Let us also not forget to include the word stamina along with velocity and command.
  15. I'm a little torn on the issue. For sentimental value, I wouldn't mind seeing Greg back in the rotation's 5-hole, but in the end... would he be significantly better than Marquis/Marshall? Probly not. Sure Marquis and Marshall have been, or can get, knocked around slightly more than occasionally, but what can really be expected of a 4th/5th starter?? In the end, if we go for another SP, I'd rather it be a proven type of pitcher; than a guy to just throw in there at the end of the rotation and hope he basically just eats some innings and keeps games within striking distance for the offense. Sean Marshall, Rich Hill, Kevin Hart, Chad Gaudin, Jon Lieber or Jason Marquis can do what either Wolf or Maddux can do in regards to keeping the Cubs in striking distance in games they pitch, so why give up talent and eat any remaining budget when you already have 6 guys capable of putting up equal numbers on the roster? Of course, Marquis could possibly net yet another arm as well if he gets dealt.
  16. Nate McLouth? Pirates should build around McLouth, Bay, Doumit, and McCutheon. Trade Nady, Wilson, Marte, and Snell. Get a serviceable 3B and about 3-4 solid arms, a couple of them fireball throwing RHs and compete in 2010. Ideally, yes, we don't trade McClouth. Doumit is about as untouchable as one gets on our team, followed closely by McLouth. If the offer is right for McLouth, (emphasis on right) he'll be traded. McCutheon can play center, and we can go with Bay, Mac, Pearse as our outfield next year. Doumit is different in that we have no depth at catcher (does anyone really?) Nady is the most likely to be moved. But, again, the offer has to be good enough. Wilson probably isn't going anywhere because, as we've learned when he was on the DL, we'd need another decent shortstop back. And, he's relatively cheap. Snell's value is **** right now, so he won't be traded. As I've posted elsewhere, as of right now, the offers for Marte are not better than the draft picks we'd get for him leaving as a free agent. If the offers get better, be sure he will be traded. I wasn't familiar with Bonifacio. Based on what I'm reading here, I'd say he's not the target. Our real need is starting pitching. It's been the difference in most of our losses this year. And, we've won quite a few games in spite of it. Pittsburgh needs more lefty starters. :)
  17. Tracy's still a 3b, but it was easier for them to shift Connor Jackson to the outfield and leave Reynolds at 3b and move Tracy to 1st. What exactly did the D'Backs get in return for Carlos Quentin? Whatever it was, I don't think it was worth it.
  18. I watched the first 2 innings of that game. Gallagher was dealing. Murton grounded out to short his first two times up. They showed a Rich Harden A's commercial between the 1st and 2nd innings. Whoops!
  19. Check out ESPN's schedule page. They show FOX hosting a double headers worth of games. Maybe the change happened too late for my local cable company to get it into their schedule? And yeah, once again, MLB EI won't be showing any games today until late.
