  1. I've kind of felt like the Cubs have already spent beyond their means the last few years to try to win a World Series. If they can open the pocket book even further with a World Series victory, I wouldn't be too disappointed.
  2. I only have 8 starts this week, but to me it's really only 7, because the last time James Shields pitched against Boston, we all know how that turned out. Needless to say, Shields is sitting against Boston and barring another suspension, he'll be pitching against KC later in the week for my 7th start.
  3. NC only has 12 starts to pick from this week, with most of those starts against really crappy offenses. I'm just going to go ahead and write this one off as a loss from the get go, because optimism sure isn't working.
  4. I'd definitely be interested in this in a separate league. The only other league of significance I'm in is Chuck's ESPN league, and between the abandoned teams there and the other two guys who expand their roster size on a daily basis by rotating in and out every free agent pitcher available, I've completely lost interest over there.
  5. That is true but I think its fair. Most of the time, people just miscount. I agree... and knowing Doug and his history in the league, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. I think he was just out of town or too busy to check in. I mentioned in the game chat a few days back that he needed to pull someone from his rotation, but I never saw him in the game chats until late Sunday night.
  6. Speaking of rules, did you receive the email I sent you that had the rules that Chris put together, Juan? I sent it to you a long time ago and you never acknowledged receiving them.
  7. Not much incentive for a manager to make sure they don't go over in starts for the week. It probably means the difference between me winning or losing this week, but what the hell, my team doesn't deserve to win anyway.
  8. Juan, How do you decide what pitching start gets nixed when a team has more than 7 starts? Does the opposing team get to make that decision? Draconian Empire has 8 starts this week, 3 of them today.
  9. It doesn't make it fun for me when I make offers for a player and receive no response, meanwhile that same player gets traded to someone else for a lesser package. If my complaints about it are making it unfun for others, then I won't mention it again.
  10. Is your current catcher injured?
  11. While we're hammering on j fishbulb, might as well point out that Miguel Montero is not minor league eligible, by my calculations. He should either be placed on his major league squad or dropped. Or are we just going to continue letting him play by his own special rules week after week? This is the same guy who started the year with Jeff Kent on the DL while Jeff Kent was playing 2b everyday for the LA Dodgers. Per Juan, any player placed on the DL prior to the start of the season that doesn't start the season on the DL must be dropped. Jeff Kent was dropped today, 13 or so weeks later. Meanwhile, at least one Roadkill manager (not named BigbadB) was upset that this rule was being violated while that manager was in dire need of a 2b. Shape up or ship out is my opinion. But, yeah I'm still bitter about the Peavy thing, and will likely stay bitter about it as long as this guy continues to skirt the rules.
  12. Was he productive out of the pen during those 2 weeks he was on the DL? If the answer was no, then I don't see why I can't hold that against him. It's not like he's been the perfect picture of health during his career.
  13. Given the history of pitchers in Texas, I'd be willing to lay down a bet that Sheets will never pitch an inning for the Texas Rangers.
  14. No interest in Ryan Braun, huh? Okay. I'll suffer through yet another week of his sorry ass. \:D/
  15. Haha. Nice. Hey, how is Percival working out for you, by the way? Is he reeling in the points and giving your team a chance to win every week? Oh, wait, I see it now. You're too afraid to put him in your line up. I don't blame you. The massive 21 points he's amassed over the last 5 weeks of play would frighten the hell out of me as well.
  16. Yeah, I was patiently waiting for your smart ass comments regarding Hoffman's outing last night. I got the best Percival had to offer. He hasn't been any better than Hoffman over the last month. Still, I'd rather pick up someone off the FA wire than trade for Percival. But, you just go ahead and keep hoarding them closers since they are such a hot commodity on Roadkill. :good: Meanwhile, I think my team is about to break out of the funk. I'm pretty happy with my score so far with 6 pitching starts remaining.
  17. I also think Murton just missed hitting a home run by a a fraction of a few inches of bat meeting ball.
  18. Putting the ball in play isn't the goal there. Brenly was begging for him to strikeout to limit the damage. I think he went up with a swing hard in case you hit it attitude. But his eye was horrible. A groundout would be even worse than the K, and the only fly ball that scores a run is a very deep one with pudgey on third. Had he not swung at all he would have been better off. Exactly. Cedeno swung at ball 1, ball 2 and ball 3 in his at bat. Sherrill was already wild before the Cedeno at bat. As good as Cedeno has been this year at pitch recognition, that all went out the window on that at bat. Horrible, horrible at bat. That at bat gave me Dusty nightmares last night.

    Week 12

It's all good. I just informed Fishbulb that I promised never to inconvenience him again with trade discussion of any kind, and he said he's okay with that. Now I know not to waste any more of my time with him. I feel better now.

    Week 12

If the offers are ludicrously bad, then say so. It takes so little effort to hit the decline button it's not even funny. With that being said, I'll be sure to ignore any trade offer he ever sends me, since that's apparently his idea of a common courtesy. And for the record, he's the one who loses on this deal. I could have easily topped the package he received for Peavy and would have done so.

    Week 12

I don't. I like 16 owners all willing to hit the approve or decline button on trade proposals. I don't think it's all that much to ask. On June 14th, I sent this message to J Fishbulb through Roadkill: "I sent you a trade offer yesterday morning and I haven't heard anything from you yet. I have all kinds of exempt talent to offer for Peavy if he's really on the market. Here is a quick list of exempt players I have available: Jacoby Ellsbury, Johnny Cueto, Aaron Laffey, Max Scherzer, Carlos Gonzalez, Ian Stewart, Alexei Ramirez, Carlos Marmol, Brian Barton, Wladimir Balentien. Feel free to counter if the proposal doesn't interest you."

    Week 12

Well, that's the point we're trying to make. Juan has been extremely busy during this baseball season, yet he still makes time to swing a deal or respond to messages sent to him.

    Week 12

I have to admit I'm a bit pissed off seeing the Jake Peavy trade this morning. I had better packages to offer for Peavy, and J Fishbulb never bothered to respond to anything I sent him. If it's something personal, I can take it. Just tell me you don't like me and you refuse to make any trades with someone you don't like so I can quit wasting my time. But, to just simply ignore trade offers and private messages sent through Roadkill is not cool. Am I overvaluing my own players? I would have given up Jacoby Ellsbury, Johnny Cueto and one of Alexei Ramirez, Carlos Gonzalez or Max Scherzer for Peavy. Heck, I might have added even more just to make the deal happen. Instead, Voodoo gets Brandon Jones, Andy LaRoche and Jose Tabata? I would hope Voodoo at least got a draft pick included in that deal. Seriously? Wow! Hey, Juan. Wanna make a deal for Peavy?

    Week 12

I pick up Aubrey Huff and Ubaldo Jimenez off the scrap heap and they've combined to score almost half my points this week. Amazing.
