  1. Bull. If he's healthy he'll hit 40 home runs from the DH/3B, RBI's are impossible to predict, but that avg. is probably about right.
  2. I had this last year when I started working outside after moving to Phoenix. Sucks a lot.
  3. I think a lot of you are misinterpreting tiger's posts. He doesn't want him to completely change his game, just look to drive the ball in hitter's counts. This being the same approach Ichiro takes. He seems to do alright with it as a leadoff guy, looking to drive hitter's counts and slap into play pitcher's counts. When you slap the ball, just trying to put the ball in play, you get a lot of weak outs. When you are more selective different parts in the at bat you draw more walks and get more extra base hits. If you are ahead in the count, the pitcher has to throw a strike or walk you. They can't nibble on the corners. This means you'll probably get an easier pitch to hit which means it will easier to drive for extra bases. When you hit a double, you don't have to risk getting caught stealing. His OBP probably wouldn't suffer, it might actually improve, and instead of being "pesky" he'd be dangerous.
  4. Edited by Tony La Russa I thought La Russa did the foreword. Relief pitching matchups: A labor of paranoia Indeed. Tony wrote the foreword. Duncan was actually the editor. There is a new edition coming out in which Duncan details his demanding of Anthony Reyes to use a two seam fastball despite the success he has achieved with a 4 seam. Ground balls are key.
  5. I dropped down to second too. Michigan State is my only sweet 16 pick out so far, so I feel good about that.
  6. GREAT trade.
  7. That is hilarious. UBER hilarious.
  8. So the literally hundreds of other starting pitchers around the world who don't consistently get injured even though they have very similar throwing regimens remain healthy because of what? Lucky? Or do the all take the time to talk to the other wily veteran on their staff's? It has nothing to do with physics and biology? This is just as dumb as blaming Dusty. A normal 23 year old pitcher should be able to rebound from 2003's workload without recurring complications.
  9. Appearance wise he isn't far off. Talent wise he is about as close as a cat to a tiger.
  10. BUT HE WON 16 GAMES SO HE IS AWESOME.
  11. He is having a heck of a spring and looks like Adam Dunn, so naturally I am fond of him.
  12. IIRC,That was the 1st time in his career. Not that he hasn't been oft injured, but: 2001 - 34gs, 215.2 innings Not the first time really. He averages 161.2 innings over his career. I don't think you factored in the entire year he missed. good call. so that makes it 143.1 average.
  13. Or that. I'm still a little emotionally damaged from the Rick Ankiel saga so forgive me if I'm a bit jumpy.
  14. I think he is going to have a typically mediocre to good year.
  15. IIRC,That was the 1st time in his career. Not that he hasn't been oft injured, but: 2001 - 34gs, 215.2 innings Not the first time really. He averages 161.2 innings over his career.
  16. Apparently Reyes was working on developing a new 2 seam fastball during the game. This either means that he has the spot locked up, or Duncan doesn't think he can be in the ML's without one. In which case I would be disappointed in Dunc's inability to adapt his philosophy for an obviously gifted pitcher.
  17. Honestly no. People are free to express whatever opinion they have of me. I could care less.
  18. I think you have Wolf confused with someone else. Indeed he does. That doesn't mean he is entirely wrong. Darryl Kile never beat or sexually assaulted a woman. If he had a little pot on him when he died than that was his choice and I find a huge difference between Darryl and Morris getting high in their hotel room and Kirby Puckett putting his wife in the hospital and drunkenly sexually assaulting multiple women. Call me crazy, but I see a difference in the two situations. Believe me when I say this. If Albert Pujols were to do the things Kirby has done, I would feel the exact same way. Just because somebody is dead doesn't mean he all of a sudden gets a pass on being a douche. I find people calling athletes heroic based solely on their athletic accomplishments questionable to begin with. Thanks for jinxing my fantasy team and my favorite MLB team jerk! if you had a problem with Edmonds and the allegations laid against him, that's fine. but if ever there was a time to shut your cakehole about it, that time is now.
  19. Just two reasons and not exclusive. I didn't know the Pope but I mourned and reflected for him.
  20. Why should I mourn a guy who A: I don't even know and B: Is a criminal who beats and sexually assaults women?
  21. Reguardless of what you thought of the man, that may be the tackiest thing that's ever been posted on this board. Yes, I agree, that is pretty classless. Insensitive, yes. Classless, yes. I just don't see the point in waxing poetic and fawning over the death of someone who if he wasn't a millionaire would be in jail. Why honor a man who cheats on and assaulted his wife and openly got away with both.
  22. Are you seriously calling him a hero? Perspective?
  23. Good guys to have though.
  24. I think that is everybody's dilemma. Nobody's used to having this many scrubs in play. I'm not crazy about my team. A lot of reaches and underachieving high ceiling guys. MY TEAM: C - Jorge Posada 1B - Ryan Howard 2B - Taduhito Iguchi SS - Bobby Crosby 3B - Dallas MacPherson OF - Jim Edmonds OF - Willy Tavarez OF - JD Drew Util - Jermaine Dye BN - Rob Mackowiak BN - Juan Encarnacion BN - Joe Crede SP - Chris Carpenter SP - Jake Peavy RP - Mariano Rivera RP - Jose Mesa P - Mike Mussina P - Jason Marquis P - Anthony Reyes P - Zack Greinke P - Brad Halsey P - Neil Cotts P - LaTroy Hawkins
