  1. Me too, but it's annoying that his ceiling is essentially Nevan Subotic...
  2. Tim Ream + Rafa Marquez = best CD pairing in MLS history. So smooth. RB still can't break down defense through the center of MF.
  3. I only got to watch the first half, and granted it's against Toronto, but Vancouver looks solid. They play good soccer, especially on the counter. NYRB can't possess the ball with Marquez no longer in the MF but the trio of Henry, Agudelo and Richards create so many chances for through balls it almost doesn't matter.
  4. Agudelo's feet are Dempseyesque.
  5. Interesting statistical breakdown of MLS vs European leauges: http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/soccer-made-in-the-u-s-where-m-l-s-stand-soccermetrically-speaking/ Apparently our refs aren't paying attention. Who knew?
  6. MNT Camp for Arg & Paraguay announced, few nice surprises including Tim Chandler. Like it. http://theshinguardian.com/2011/03/16/usa-roster-for-upcoming-march-friendlies/
  7. Thats pretty cool. I know he loves soccer, but have always been curious as to how good he is. Is he like Romo just playing in an indoor league over here, or does he have some talent. I've read that he was a phenomenal youth player but chose football because it was the most sure thing route to making big money for his family.
  8. What are they missing? Creative central mid and an out and out striker? Those don't grow on MLS trees. Zakuani was running Bex ragged in the first half and occupied Landon admirably in the second half, Ozzie Alonso is maybe the best defensive mid in the league, Keller still good, Montero good...they're missing something though.
  9. Here's something I've never said: THANK YOU, FIFA. twitter.com/GrantWahl @GrantWahl CONCACAF will propose same Hexagonal to FIFA as for WC06. I.e., USA-Mexico would be back. (via @ESPN_JorgeRamos)
  10. The Mr. Irrelevant of sideline reporters, Allen Hopkins, just tweeted that Omar Gonzalez and Juan Pablo are out tonight. Bummer. #2 and 3 players I wanted to see tonight.
  11. The only way Miami could play better defense right now is if they carried guns. Unfortunately for them, they're still not playing anyone with a mismatch like Derrick or Howard.
  12. Go Sounders. I'm not looking forward to another year of ESPN pretending that Beckham is marketable. Saw him on a SportsCenter blurb this morning and it put me in a bad mood. He and his ridiculous hair and bad tattoos need to go away. NICE. Let's hope the learning curve is short.
  13. I find it strange that they don't do free previews of the original Fox Soccer. Also that they'd do their free preview on a weekend of bull [expletive] FA Cup nonsense instead of a full slate of the PL.
  14. LOU AMUNDSEN SAYS NO
  15. Ives is chatting with Chuck Blazer. Really encouraging news is that the BS new CONCACAF qualifying format has NOT been finalized. The lack of US v Mexico matchup is a huge factor for why.
  16. COME GET SOME, CANADA.
  17. Damn you Thibs http://i56.tinypic.com/153br7r.jpg
  18. Bethlehem Shoals recants, bows to Derrick's indomitable will - http://freedarko.blogspot.com/2011/03/abjection-at-speed-of-sound.html
  19. I want a Vince Carter flop gif from last night to send to people in my office. BALL DON'T LIE, VINCE.
  20. The setup of the first goal was world class. Like clockwork, the Arsenal never miss an opportunity to drop points when United lose.
  21. MLS Matchday Live is available for an early bird special price of $40. Jump on it.
  22. The most difficult part of the Arsenal thing is that this is the year. They haven't won a trophy in what? 6 years? We just saw how they couldn't get out of their own way last weekend, but even more significant is their missteps in the league. United has less talent than they've had in maybe 5-6 years, Chelsea is old and looks uninterested and Arsenal's long-vaunted youth are all grown up. THIS IS THE YEAR. They'll never have an easier path to the title than now. City will get better, Chelsea will get better and as long as SAF is around, United will get better. How on earth can they blow this opportunity over something as stupid as Wenger's stubbornness? Give them a real keeper and replace Koscielney with David Luiz and they are winning this thing.
  23. Arsenal is ticking me off. I got them at I believe 8-1 to win the league when I was in Vegas last summer and they continually either a)blow easy opportunities to go top or b)stay just close enough that I can't throw out the ticket.
  24. Chad Ford has questions about his rebounding. Especially against larger players.
  25. I agree, but Pires was really good yesterday.
