  1. Teal Bunbury absolutely giving it to Vancouver. Makes 3 in 2 for him. I love seeing young, international caliber US forwards all over the scoresheet every week.
  2. So this isn't an April Fools, NYRB traded for Dwayne DeRosario. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2011/04/tfc-trades-dero-to-red-bulls-in-blockbuster.html#more Hot damn am I looking for to a RSL NYRB MLS Cup.
  3. So apparently this dude has the worst sense of humor going because this was an April Fools joke. I guess I should have realized it was 4/1 in Sweden yesterday eve? Too bad because it'd be a great move.
  4. Alejandro Bedoya is taking his talents to MLS. I don't blame the guy. He's built a rep in Sweden, has some interest in the UK and Continental and will now make the same money, except in a better league and in a warmer climate. He can still move abroad if there's a good situation.
  5. It's not that he thinks Rose is terrible at defense, he just thinks Thibodeau should get all of the credit for any defensive improvement, and Rose should get none. That's a little absurd. Problem is, there isn't a really good way to determine how effective a player is defensively. Going by straight defensive rating, Boozer is in the top 10 (along with the rest of the team, practically). Going merely by the difference in team defensive rating when a player is on the floor vs. without, Rose is the worst defender in the NBA, and Howard is in the bottom 10. No, the problem is that the award is subjective and this dude took a stand a long time ago and now has to search out ways to make it seem right. That compounded with the fact he is the inventor of a decidedly flawed statistic that shows Derrick in a negative light give him little choice but to make his stand. The problem is also that we Derrick Rose fans are super, giddily annoying and when someone presents opinions that are anything but completely positive, they get a lot of attention from us in the form of page views and more generated discussion. Seriously, we Rose fans are almost intolerable in our devotion and even though he deserves the positive attention, from a rhetorical perspective, we cause a lot of people to form adversarial opinions based mostly on how over the top we are.
  6. Soo...last night's game. Not much to say when you're the dominant team but lose 1-0. Landon did nothing. Bradley/Jones were individually on their game but didn't do much in the final third to link the offense. Clint was a monster. He was everywhere, and took a huge beating all night. Agudelo very good, Jozy crap and our keepers were solid. Really, really like Chandler and Ream playing. Chandler is just so dangerous, really strong and fast. I liked the wrinkle at the end where Bob pushed him up into the midfield, moved Clint up top and put Lichaj at RB. Chandler and Lichaj overlapping could someday be a devastating combination of strength and speed on that flank. This summer I'd love to see what Cherundolo and Chandler could do in that combination. Edu did nothing for me, Boca was solid, DeMerit left too early to do much but I loved Ream's composure and passing out of the back. He needs to work on being better two-footed for when he's in a bind. Kljestan looked better than expected in his cameo. Could have really used better service to Clint and Landon and Holden would have been great paired with Jones or Bradley. Double destroyer killed any momentum we built on the counter.
  7. Last Saturday.
  8. He's also been way too scowly lately. Cheer up, Derrick! You're gonna be the mvp!
  9. I was totally that guy too. NO SERIOUSLY. WATCH THIS. HE'S SO FAST JENNINGS CAN'T EVEN BREAK HIS ANKLE BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO CUT BACK AND CHASE, HE HAS TO DO A 360 BECAUSE DERRICK IS ALREADY GONE OH MY GOD AHAHAHA! Yeah, cool. RIGHT?! I THINK IM GONNA BUY HIS SHOES THEY'RE ONLY LIKE $125.
  10. Masterclass by Bob. Sat back early with the vets, observed and adjusted. That or he shouldn't have tried the triple destroyer and Spector in the first place but I'll stick with option 1.
  11. THERES ONLYJUAN AGUDELO! THERES ONLY JUAN AGUDELO! JUAN AGUDELOOOOO THERES ONLY JUAN AGUDELOOO!
  12. US v the undisputed heavyweight champs on June 4 at Foxboro. I love summer soccer in our country these days. Barca, Ajax, Everton, Spain, Manchester United, the Gold Cup and all the hot MLS action you can handle my friends.
  13. Man's game, Rondo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqFwcYX-an4
  14. When did Rajon Rondo become a puss?
  15. Try this:

  17. The company I work for has an office in Frisco like a mile from the metroplex. I'd love to fill in there for a week and check out a game if they ever needed me too. Watching this clip from Fulham's website honoring Clint's record setting goals: http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2011/March/Dempsey10Goals.aspx It struck me how incredible he is as a player. Brek Shea in Dallas is a perfect example of what I'm talking about too. These guys are so sublimely skilled that coming up in the youth system in the US, they never really find a position because coaches plug them in where they most need their talent to fit their system. Clint's transformation over the last 5 years has been astounding. In MLS, he was the attacking midfielder that scored beautiful, sublime goals and spent a ton of time on the ball. Playing with Fulham, he can still do that, but he's added the aerial dimension and the lightning quick decision making that has turned him into the most well-rounded attacking player we've ever produced. Landon is still faster and a better passer, but Clint can do it all. In the air he's as good as McBride. On the ground he's as good as Landon. As a poacher he's quicker than Wynalda. He's done all of this while learning how to play multiple positions and fighting for a permanent spot that he's never really had the luxury of finding due to coaching turnover.
  18. Have you noticed any buzz in Dallas? Apparently their crowd for the opener was really strong.
  19. Fulham play ManU in a couple of weeks, maybe we can get someone to take out Hernandez for 6 months on a similar tackle. Hopefully Salcido and Hernandez collide and amputate each other's right leg.
  20. That's a huge loss for the Gold Cup. We'll miss his two way play v Mexico.
  21. Word on the street is that he's got some ligament damage. Yeah he just tweeted that he got some bad news today that will come out tomorrow.
  22. So as I'm watching the second half of the DC game, the color guy on the broadcast keeps annoying me. Who was this obnoxious broadcaster with his Bill Waltonesque, excitable, overly dramatic and sometimes stupid analysis who didn't know when to shut up? Thomas Rongen.
  23. Jason Kreis step your game up. There's a new best-dressed coach in the league. Ben Olsen comes correct. If you guys can't tell, I love this damn league. After I went to a game live in Seattle, Europe lost all it's mystique. We have a real product here.
  24. Glorious night for American strikers. Dempsey sets American EPL record, Agudelo and now Charlie just bagged #2. [expletive] right.
  25. Like I said re: through balls. Agudelo beast mode.
