  1. I think this is the problem from what I have seen of him. At times he is just never involved at all or just seems to be missing. Do you seem him as a forward? I like him on the wing. Mainly because we don't have any left-side, left-footed players. Let alone those players with any skill. Although hearing Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid scouts rave about him at CB is intriguing.
  2. I like Shea a lot. I think he needs to learn the Clint lesson, i.e. how to get into the game instead of letting the game come to you. He's also had the misfortune of coming up in the US development system which means that even though he has the feet of a midfielder he's been played all over. He's probably the most talented guy on all his youth teams so some coach probably put him at center mid. He's super tall so they've played him at center back and target forward. He's just been all over the place. Once he settles in a position he'll be able to figure out how to dictate the pace of his game and know when to get involved. He's got way more upside than Dax McCarty.
  3. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/soccerblog/rbny_says_juan_agudelo_interest_kr0Wyz3Db7JcTMbdNXPzPM Atletico Madrid wants Agudelo and Brek Shea and so far have gotten turned down on Agudelo.
  4. Yeah he was the number 1 overall, iirc. http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/landon-donovan-a-disgrace-to-the-soccerloving-coun,18624/ Landon was shot 172 times? Damn.

  6. I think the ESPY's got it right when they gave Landon's goal v Algeria the sports moment of the year, but whatever, this is a solid choice: http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2010/December/BBCLondonSportingMoment.aspx That's a questionable scarf/jacket situation, but congrats to Clint anyway. http://www.fulhamfc.com/Images/MainNews/NewsPages/Players/Dempsey/BBCAward.jpg
  7. Stu with the great winner v blackburn: http://theoriginalwinger.com/2010-12-12-bolton-wanderers-vs-blackburn-rovers-highlights-english-premier-league ---------Best in form striker------- --LD-----------Stu------------Deuce--- ----------Jones------Bradley------------- Stu and Deuce are on fire for their clubs right now.
  8. Clint might want a switch though. Especially if game reports like this keep getting written: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=292941&league=ENG.1&cc=5901 I'll summarize in case you don't want to read the whole thing. Clint Dempsey ran the show, was near unstoppable but his teammates constantly let him down.
  9. Speaking of the Arsenal, Portland's away kit is the best jersey in MLS. http://www.portlandtimbers.com/team/jersey Love the red and white with the rose badge. I know the green is tradition, but the away kit should be it.
  10. Copenhagen is the best case, no?
  11. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1614/americans-abroad/2010/12/06/2248428/report-liverpool-plan-10m-bid-for-fulhams-clint-dempsey Clint to Liverpool for £10,000,000. I think that could get it done. He'd be great value for them.
  12. Villa looking to cut wages means Friedel is out this Jan. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Aston-Villa-Brad-Friedel-considering-MLS-move-after-agreeing-to-terminate-contract-talks-Allan-McGregor-and-Tomasz-Kuszczak-lined-up-as-potential-replacements-Exclusive-article643789.html Guzan is as good as McGregor and Kuszczak. If he doesn't get the #1 after Friedel leaves, he should request a transfer.
  13. One upside to the Qatar win is that all of the stadiums are within 40 miles of each other. People will be able to mix with all of the fans and go see any games. I'm actually kind of excited about the possibility of going.
  14. Correction. http://deadspin.com/5704577/
  15. http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/large/202019158.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1291323578&Signature=BvEtv213XA2lvzxS0VZkQY4X9z0%3D
  16. The existing infrastructure worked against the US, England, Australia, Belgium/Netherlands and Spain/Portugal. The opportunity for graft in new construction and services as in South Africa proved too tempting for FIFA.
  17. I confess...I always thought it was kuh-TAR. I'm pretty sure I will mispronounce it on purpose every single time. "Quatar" and "Katar" were both trending on twitter worldwide. Qatar nowhere to be found. in the trending topics.
  18. Today's farce raises an interesting question: who, other than maybe China, will even want to bid for 2026? The US. Our federation's president, Sunil Gulati, has based his legacy on promising a World Cup.
  19. At least the unemployed slave force in Dubai will have some work nearby now. Now Qatar can exploit them.
  20. You're right. They already announced they'd compromise religion for economy and relax alcohol laws during the Cup. Also, I'm not worried about level of play, they'll get the stadiums cool enough. Qatar will spend any amount of money regardless of whether it's worth it, to make this Cup amazing. They are starving for an opportunity like this to show the West they are progressive, welcoming and relevant. They won't screw it up. But I live in Phoenix. I've experienced long days in the sun and the dreaded desert summer drunk. It can break bad on you pretty easily. Some brit tourist is going to get loaded, pass out outdoors and die.
  21. Let's get rid of pk's in 2022 knock out rounds. Just play until someone scores or dies of heat stroke. Puts whole new meaning into "sudden death."
  22. In honor of Qatar's anti-alcohol beliefs, all future FIFA celebrations will look like this instead of using Champagne. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm16/dhohulin/FIFA.jpg
  23. The 12 years thing is kind of unprecedented, right? Is it likely that they decided to do it this way because they knew they were going to Qatar and wanted to give them more time to build? What a waste to build all those stadia in a country with nobody to fill them. Apparently, they're designing portable stadiums. You can disassemble and ship them wherever for sale or rent. They anticipate scenarios like a Brazil v Argentina friendly in Shanghai in the stadium that hosted the 22 Cup Final.
  24. So when China gets 2026, Asia will essentially have 3 World Cups in a row.
  25. Qatar.
