This is the third year leap for Rose, but definitely more than expected. Not just the production either. The swagger, the late game ice, the game management; all of those things were question marks. Beyond that, the shooting improved far more than anyone could reasonably expect. At the end of the year he was behind Williams, Paul, Rondo and possibly a few others in the point guard pecking order. Now he's the MVP favorite and unquestionably the best lead guard in the league. As for Deng, everyone knows he's better this year beyond just defensive hustle but no one is really mentioning what it is. It's the fact that he turned his dumbass 20+ foot jumpers into three point attempts. His fg% dropped predictably but not enough for it to be overcome the added point per make. That in turn helps spread the floor for Derrick. I guess what I'm saying is that you may be somewhat right, but in order for a Bulls fan to expect this, they would have had to be really optimistic and since we're all pretty savvy sports fans for the most part, we didn't let ourselves get carried away. Even the most optimistic projections had them at 50 wins and that's not because we're dumb or don't know basketball. It's because there were too many question marks.
