  1. haha damn stats i know, they always ruin a good, tear-filled game thread temper tantrum. Sorry for getting worked up during a Cubs game. It my come as surprise to you, but not everyone just sits there and lifelessly watches a game like you apparently do. I get happy as a kid on Christmas and incredibly pissed too while watching a game. Wait, are you a fan? LOL, hard to believe that some Cubs fans get pissed when the Cubs GIVE THE DIVISION AWAY Fixed
  2. He's going to lose one before the game is over.
  3. You realize that they are 2 games back and just rolled through Atlanta right? That being said, I never count them out until they are eliminated...fortune always smiles on them eventually. I guess that makes me one of the people you are ranting about.
  4. I predict we lose 2 out of 3. Soriano will do nothing significant. The offense will struggle to put more than 2 runs on the board in every game. Hill implodes and get yanked by the 4th, Lilly gives up 4 runs in 5 innings. We'll be out of contention by the 2nd week of September. The only stories bigger than our horrific collapse will be the feel-good story of the Cards surging to the playoffs in the name of Josh Hancock. It will be discovered that Pujols is injecting Pit Bulls in his dog fighting ring with PED's. He will be applauded for his contributions to the scientific community. All PetSmarts in Missouri will be renamed PujSmarts in his honor.
  5. Why? Even if it works, I'm complaining. Yeah right. Yeah so, I'm the first to call out decisions that are bad even if they work We hadn't scored since what? The 3rd inning? Sorry, but that was not a bad decision, it was bad execution. Kendall couldn't execute the bunt, and then he couldn't execute with the runners moving. It's that simple. Absolutely. He was just trying to make something happen. If the cubs hadn't put their bats away after the 3rd, this isn't even an issue. The BP has been nails lately, what a waste.
  6. We are extremely good at not getting runners in. Failing is our strong suit.
  7. I am in favor of winning this game. It would make me happy. That being said, we don't score here.
  8. If so, then Hendry will go out this offseason and find the biggest cokeheads he can and sign them to long term contracts. Lol, yep. He'll also try sign every short reliever he can find to revamp the rotation. I don't think they'll win it all, but they'll win a series. We'll all get our fill of hearing the feel good stories. So inspiring, just goes to show kids...if you don't give up and snort coke/drink and drive you can achieve the impossible. I'm suprised the whole "Winning for Josh Hancock" angle hasn't been played up. I guess the BAC, drugs and speeding that led to his demise have made the story harder to play up. Give it time.
  9. I can't remember such an incompetent offense. I think we had a much higher chance of scoring at any point last year than we have the last 2 weeks. Every hitter's approach (save Theriot and Kendall) is just terrible. Watch the meat, swing at crap - your goal is to pop the ball straight up or ground out meekly to the pitcher. They were WAY worse last year. Didn't the Cubs set a record for fewest runs over a 9 or 10 game span? EDIT: I don't know if this was a record or not but starting on April 29, the Cubs scored 6 runs in 8 games and 13 runs in 11 games: 2, 0, 2, 0, 1, 0, 0, 1, 3, 3, 1. Fair enough, I guess the fake rallies are keeping us away from shut outs. It could just be that it pisses me off infinitely more this year.

  12. Dbacks will finish off the D-bags in this series. D-bags will lose first by Thursday and never regain it this season. Cards will win NLDS, powered by the wondeful story of Ankiel and the memory of the choirboy who was wrongly attacked by a tow truck. It will be the stuff of legends, David vs Goliath. America's team, full of grit and hustle will intangible their way into the playoffs past the team with the "360 Mil Payroll". So damn predictable, not sure why I put myself through this every year.
  13. fantastic offense! This team is just terrible.
  14. Obviously they have not seen us hit...nor do they realize that we are in a race against a franchise with a horseshoe jammed in their crack.
  15. 2nd place, 2 in front of the cards by tomorrow.
  16. I know that some of you on here dont like Buck but this is kind of a ridiculous claim here. Listen to Len his voice gets high when ever a Cubs player does something well too. Len isn't a national announcer and he calls all 162 games. It's different when you're a known broadcaster on the national scale and when you're only announcing 10-15 games a year for the Cardinals. Yeah but he is not announcing it on national game. He is only announcing on the Cardinals broadcast. Something tell me you would get on Vasgarsian or Brenneman if they got excited while doing their local broadcast games even though they do national games too. Buck is a gigantic homer, sorry if that notion offends you. and as much as i don't like the guy, he's allowed to be on a cards broadcast. complaining about him being biased in a local broadcast (so long as it's short of hawk harrellson's level) is ridiculous. My gripe is that he announces the same way on national broadcasts. When he's teamed with McCarver it's borderline absurd.

  18. When was that? When he hit 27 homers last year. or 23 the year before that, or 24 before that one... i can't remember a player who didn't suffer a serious injury and still completely lost his ability to hit for power. It's not just Jacque (yes he sucks terribly)...look at DLee, Aramis, even Soriano is down. The whole team is having a serious power outage.
  19. The Thing that bothers me most is we still have quite a few games left with them. Their good luck, remaining games against us, and haunting visions of 2004 have me sitting uneasy. That being said, the Cubs have proven me wrong several times this year.
  20. Don't get too confident...it would be very Cub-like for us to be swept and have all of our guts ripped out and stomped on.
  21. i'd have to say no unless we also get a pre-cancer Big Cat um, are we forgetting we need a catcher in return? Kirt Manwaring plz Little late, but don't you think Jayhawk Owens has too much upside to pass on?
  22. Yes please...this would work fine or better using Jones instead of Floyd, but whatever. If Hendry is hellbent on Floyd, might as well salvage something out of it. Better yet: Keep Jones, Sign Floyd to a small base contract, Sign Wilson, Put Soriano in CF. Soriano CF Murton LF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Jones/Wilson RF Barrett C DeRosa 2B Izturis SS Bench: Theriot, Ward, Jones/Wilson, Floyd, Blanco That's a much better team than we are currently looking at. That lineup might actually score some runs.
  23. So do I and all the options are bad except finding a CFer or keeping JJ. Keeping Jones and playing him in CF is not a bad option. It's a mediocre option, but not bad. I think that's what he was saying, the options are bad except .... keeping JJ. I think the bad options are using DeRosa in the OF and playing Theriot everyday, or starting Pie. Jones in CF is the best realistic option at this point, unless some trade target becomes available. I would have liked to have seen Jones/DeRosa platoon in Right, Soriano Center, and Marcus Giles at 2b. At least then Izturis in the 8 spot would be our only completely useless hitter. I'd be cool with a Jones/DeRosa platoon. I was thinking this story was referring to DeRosa being more of a regular out there though. Oh no, I agree with you. The story was talking along those lines...I was just wishing outloud.
