No way they can ditch the bulls-eye logo. It's as much a part of the indicia as is the "C" on the hat. I would, however, love to see this alternate logo make a comeback.
Crasnick blows, plus we've known for a week that the Cubs were at least kicking the tires on Podsednik, if quietly and from a distance. It's not as if that was just dropped on us today.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-mariners-lee&prov=ap&type=lgns I suppose Carlos Silva would be the albatross contract the Cubs would get in return?
Good to know I'll still have Santo material to mine from the broadcasts. As for his temporary replacement when necessary, I wager it has a lot to do with how much notice they have. I'm sure Ron circles a few road trips each year where he knows the stadium is difficult to get around in and/or he just hates the place (as he used to do with the trips to RFK and Shea) or he just thinks the travel will be too much for him. They used Keith Moreland in that fill-in capacity last season, have to imagine they'd use him or someone similar in the seasons to come. Otto filled this roll prior to 2009, but let's hope they're moving away from using him except when necessary, because he really is just bad. He adds nothing to the broadcast and unlike Ron, has no personality and little to no chemistry with Pat.
Except that there were places on the 2003 roster-in-progress for Karros and Grudz. Where does Mike Lowell, an aging third baseman at best and a first baseman/DH otherwise, fit on the Cubs?
Arredondo was non-tendered because he's out for TJS; he's not going to be of much use to anyone until at least the start of the 2011 season. Church would be a fine signing for the bench and I would potentially take flyers on any two or three of Atkins, Capps, Gomes, Johnson, Olsen and Wang.
FOX Sports has the Yankees, D'backs and Tigers potentially in on a three-way that would result in: Yankees get Curtis Granderson, 1-2 Arizona prospects D'backs get Edwin Jackson, Ian Kennedy Tigers get Max Scherzer, Austin Jackson, one of Phil Coke/Michael Dunn http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=tsn-tigerstalkingjackson&prov=tsn&type=lgns
