  1. The 4th seed could end up playing the 3rd best team in the conference, actually. For instance, let's say the top eight records in the eastern conference end up in the following order, from best to worst: Pistons Cavs Bulls Wizards Heat Raptors Pacers Magic The seeds would looks like: 1. Pistons 2. Cavs 5. Bulls 3. Wizards 6. Heat 4. Raptors 7. Pacers 8. Magic
  2. After enjoying Ben's outstanding performance yesterday afternoon, I decided to see how Gordon stacked up against some recent, popular trade-Gordon candidates. The list is broken down by player, age, 06-07 PER and 06-07 salary. Am I missing anybody? Ray Allen, 31, 22.30, $13.22M Ben Gordon, 23, 19.23, $3.61M Allen Iverson, 31, 20.89, $16.45M Jason Richardson, 26, 12.31, $8.89M I'm very pleased Paxson has held on to Ben.
  3. He certainly looked terrible tonight. Awful pick. Fire Paxson. Give it a rest. Enjoy the 30-point win.
  4. The Central Division is pretty good. Four of the five teams are over .500. It's the rest of the East that stinks.
  5. Thomas' 12.95 PER this season strongly suggests last year's playoff performance was a fluke. It was his ticket to another multi-year loafing cycle at the very least. I'm glad the Bulls wanted nothing to do with him. And Skiles and Smith never worked with each other.
  6. Somebody needs to explain what perennial means to Charles. Gasol has one All-Star appearance in his six seasons.
  7. The Bulls are 2 games out of the 2 seed, a game and a half out of the 3. Fixating on the seeding of the moment is premature.
  8. And others have fallen like stones -- New Jersey, Miami come to mind.
  9. This year's 31-25 record after 56 games is the best record the Bulls have had at this point of the season since 1998. They were 25-31 last year, and 29-27 in 2005.
  10. 3, 4 years down the road is when you make this highsight assessment, and I'd have kept Aldridge before I would've drafted Roy.
  11. Roll to a 20-point loss against the Sixers last night. A top 3 pick is not likely, a top 10 pick is, and this is a draft to have it.
  12. Whether or not you thought Thomas was the player with the highest ceiling is moot. I love to scour the Web for draft information, too, but that doesn't make my opinion of draft talent any more expert. I agree with the draft-for-ceiling-and-not-need policy when you have a high pick. Look at the stories printed in the Memphis papers. West wanted Deng and Gordon. Many thought he could be talked down, especially the Chicago beat writers, but we don't know for certain.
  13. Not a fan of him locking up Hinrich long-term for less than market value? If Tyrus proves to be a wasted pick -- and it's difficult to overstate how early it is to be making that claim -- it would be John's first. He certainly wasn't the only GM or scout to think Tyrus was the best prospect in the '06 draft. And every report out of Memphis had the Grizzles demanding Gordon and Deng for Gasol. Again, no thanks.
  14. Which is odd to me since this core seems to be stuck in neutral in the land of mediocrity. I thought this team was supposed to be much better than a 6 seed. I'm not surprised; you were writing the team off in November. Gordon and Deng both have made signigicant strides this season. They'll be all-stars in a year or two, and the Bulls are 2 games out of the 3 seed with a relatively easy schedule to finish the season. Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out.
  15. You're seeing a lot more in that blurb than I am, and I still don't follow how that makes it clear that Paxson isn't convinced his current team is a contender. He certainly was reluctant to mess with its core.
  16. And the Bulls beat them by 10 at Toronto. So the Bulls are 2-1 against the Raptors this year and the one point loss at the UC last week was the first time the Raptors had beaten the Bulls in like 14 games. I know Toronto's the flavor of the moment in the East, but I don't think they're a better team than the Bulls.
  17. At the price of two from Hinrich, Nocioni, Deng and Gordon. No thanks. I'm not just talking about Gasol. I'm talking about someone like Abdur-Rahim or Randolph who we could've had for much cheaper than Gasol. I can't see the Bulls wanting Abdur-Rahim. His numbers are pretty poor this year and he's got three years left on a bad contract. I think you're fooling yourself if you think it would've taken less than Deng or Gordon to land Randolph. More importantly, I didn't see any reports about him being seriously shopped.
  18. How do you figure that? If he isn't convinced a new guy could make them a contender, he's obviously not convinced they are currently a contender. That's specious reasoning. If the price for the new guy were too high, adding the player wouldn't improve the team.
  19. At the price of two from Hinrich, Nocioni, Deng and Gordon. No thanks.
  20. How do you figure that?
  21. Stick a fork in the Heat. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270221010
  22. In his post-game press conference, Skiles said it wasn't serious and Gordon would have returned to the game if they had needed him in the 4th. He's expected to play against the Cavs this Thursday.
  23. I suspect you're in the minority. Probably. But I've always considered myself a fan of the Cubs, not really of Wrigley Field. It's the team and it's history that I love. Yes, Wrigley is a part of the history, but times change and you have to let the past go. Rationalize the change however you'd like. I don't like it; the team, ballpark and neighborhood are all intertwined to me.
  24. I suspect you're in the minority.
  25. Certainly has worked for the Yankees. Won't happen as long as the Cubs have the incestuous relationship with WGN television.
