  1. Never pitching a single inning in MLB didn't stop Boston from offering that $50+M posting fee. Kinda difficult for them to sell the you're-a-risky-unknown argument after they made a bid like that, don't you think?
  2. Garnett had 18 and 11, and Blount had 11 and 5. Decent game by KG, but not an eye-popping performance, especially with him shooting 6 for 19 from the floor. I think the three games in five days and probability were more responsible for the loss last night. Time to start another win streak.
  3. He has a third choice: Play two more years in Japan and become one of the top FA prizes of the 2008 off season. He'll be 28 if he takes that path. The big loser would be Seibu if that happens, not Daiske. And possibly the Red Sox after he signs with the Yankees.
  4. I don't see Paxson trading Deng and Thomas and the rights to the Knicks pick for Garnett. Too much for an aging Big Ticket. 1, 2 years from now, that's an all-star front court.
  5. Isaiah's all over it as soon as he can convince Dolan.
  6. Were they not amazingly bad? They came close to 3-11, ringing it up to 3-9. You've missed my point. You made it sound like you expected them to start playing better the past week when your previous comments didn't suggest that at all. Just struck by the backpedaling. I think using the first month as a measuring stick for this team is a mistake. I've stated my reasons why over and over again, and see little value repeating them at this point. I'm looking forward to watching this team continue to improve. The current four-game win streak with the next seven games at home bodes well, and I expect this team to finish strong once again.
  7. I can't believe it.
  8. NIPPON HAM Fighters. Japanese teams are named after the company that owns them typically.
  9. Not quite. He won't be a free agent until the 2008 season is complete even though he'd amass enough service time for free agency in April '08. Just the way free agency works in Japan.
  10. I think Tyrus has way more upside (and Thabo possibly too). Offensively as well? Yes. He has a nice mid-range jumper that needs to develop a bit more and he needs to learn some post moves, but he certainly has the ability and talent to do it. I'm a big fan of Tyrus' upside but Deng's making a believer out of me. He's the best player on the Bulls and he's only six months older than Tyrus (almost a year younger than Thabo). If I had to trade one, I'd have a tough time choosing between the two.
  11. Did you read that article or just look at the date? Never mind; it's not important. Panic away.
  12. I'd be surprised by the pronouncements in bold if they were made by anyone else this early. A recent article by Jim O'Brien seems a fitting reply, especially the condescending paragraph.
  13. just stop talking (writing, typing, whatever) Stop being a and listen to other peoples opinions whether they post statistics or revise there posts. Enough.
  14. Sigh. Fine. Game threads are out. The only other things that could compete are the Nomar and Choi/Lee trade threads. Probably right. And most game threads start well before game time these days, and last well after the game's over. This is an impressive pace.

  16. New land speed record? Yeah, I suspect the only thing that comes close are the '03 playoff game threads.
  17. 1000+ posts in eight and a half hours. Sweet.
  18. The only game the Bulls have lost so far that I didn't think they were going to lose this month is the Kings game, which they gave away. I was hoping for 7-7. 6-8 or 5-9 look more likely now. Meh, it's November. When they're 3-11, we'll touch base. This is an amazingly bad basketball team right now. It's not just the west coast road trip. Like when they started 1-11 in Nov 04 and finished the season with 47 wins? Way too early -- even pointless -- to panic. But I'll stop arguing with you about it if you stop insisting I should be panicking now.

  20. I thought Ben did a great job on Yao tonight. 20 points in 38 minutes is a so-so game for Ming these days. Perhaps. I'm seeing a small basketball club that is struggling to defend effectively many nights though. Add to that the sketchy shooting, and you get 3-5. We should be able to get some better shooting at some point, but the size is just going to be a shortcoming all year long. The average height in the NBA is under 6-7 this year; the shortest it's been in the 21 years they've tracked that stat. I'm seeing a team with a lot of new faces struggle early in the season during an unfavorable stretch in the schedule. If the Bulls look like this in January, I'll panic.
  21. I thought Ben did a great job on Yao tonight. 20 points in 38 minutes is a so-so game for Ming these days. Ben did a good job on Yao on one-on-one defense, but what pissed me off about Ben tonight was that he looked like he didn't care at all. There were a couple of instances where all he had to do was jump and he would've had a rebound, yet he either just stood on the floor, or proceeded to run downcourt. I would've at least thought that we were going to get 110% out of Ben each and every night and that hasn't been the case at all, so far. He was guarding a guy who was 9 inches taller and 70 pounds heavier than he was. I suspect that's an exhausting 35 minutes of work.
