  1. The #3 rated center in the nation for 2011 committed to Auburn yesterday....Chizik continues to build an impressive o-line. Unfortunately, Auburn's D is going to be their problem again in 2010 me thinks.
  2. others have already mentioned it, but you are giving Lou too much credit for taking a team with a top payroll to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years....that certainly isn't the only 'stat' that really matters regarding whether we should trust Lou's decisions or not.
  3. Soriano, the 136 million dollar unlikely hero....
  4. Somehow, I have to stop myself from the checking the score online from 3-5 and then crank up the DVR when I get home.
  5. I don't know where you could find it in the spring, or if it's even possible given the lack of detailed PBP. Last year it was 17.7%, 20.5% at Daytona and 16.8% at Tennessee. Yeah, I don't know of any place that keeps track of spring PBP trajectory (although I might be able to find something with the raw data). I'm just curious if his LD% was increasing or if he's getting a bunch of seeing-eye grounders. I'm sure with a near .600 BABIP, he's getting more than his fair share, but if his LD% was sitting really high this string, then I have at least a sliver of hope he'll be productive at the plate this year. i've been trying to find LD% for the spring as well unsucessfully. His performance, obviously, isn't sustainable because of the babip, but if he's hitting the ball harder, then there is still some hope that he could be serviceable. He's going to see a lot of pitches thrown out of the strike zone though I would think...
  6. IU basketball news is like porn for SSR these days I imagine.
  7. I'm interested to see how this will change OT strategy. You will start seeing some games won by a touchdown in overtime instead of all of the winning scores being field goals. Except of course for the games that weren't won by a field goal. well yes...'all' really means 'most' in my post...but there definitely is more incentive now to try to score a touchdown after winning the coin toss vs. laying up for the field goal once in range.

  9. I'm interested to see how this will change OT strategy. So coin toss/sudden-death is now deemed an improper way to determine the end of a playoff game, but it's fine for the regular season? I guess this is a step in the right direction.
  10. Watching the tournament has made me ill. -Ben Allen (who transfered when Sampson's major class came in) is averaging almost 11 and 8 for St. Mary's (though he would have been a senior in 2009). -Jordan Crawford is putting up POTY numbers for Xavier the last couple weeks. -Terrell Holloway (former Sampson commit) is the PG for Xavier and having a strong year. -Armon Bassett averaged 17 for Ohio U this year. -Devin Ebanks was a Sampson commit and is putting up 12 and 8 for one of the nation's top team. -Eli Holman is putting up 12 and 8 for Detroit. Yeah, Allen doesn't bother me as much, but it's pretty depressing overall. You can put together a pretty solid starting five just of guys playing right now who were at IU or committed. Guh... Making a late push for Moses Abraham could help, but from what I've read about him, he's too raw to contribute as a freshman....he wasn't even considered a top 20 center in his recruiting class. Even so, IU needs any help it can get in the frontcourt, and that's why we're holding our breath, hoping we get Abraham. I know everyone wants to be patient with Crean, and I'll give him a terrible 2010 recruiting class. However, I will have had enough of him if he has a terrible 2010 recruiting class AND has 'key' players already on the roster transfer.
  11. ...no mention of IU basketball yet in this thread. IU fans can't get excited for year 3 of Crean, and I think that says something. I expected years 1 and 2 to be disasters because of the condition of the program, but I'm disappointed that IU isn't closer to being relevant again. I'll say it again....They really needed Crean to deliver a strong...ok, adequate (dang, I'd settle for 'not a disaster') 2010 recruiting class.
  12. There is little evidence that Colvin has changed his approach at the plate. He is hitting the ball well when pitchers throw him strikes thus far this spring, but he still has zero walks in 30 PA.
  13. dude wasn't hugged as a child or something....generally, i wish players well when they leave the Cubs, but I hope Bradley plays poorly this year.
  14. Bracketology?! You kidding me?! Bracketology?! I just hope we can win a game! Another game! (we won't).
  15. :blackeye: If IU were to lose Watford, that would make the team's post play even more comical. We'd see even more of Tom Prichard and I guess maybe Bawa Muniru...? Anyway, I hadn't anticipated that what little talent is on the team wants to leave. What is the rumored reasoning behind him wanting to transfer?
  16. Fellow IU fans...what are your thoughts on Crean? Is this the guy that is going to get the program back to top 15-20 status? It's probably too early to tell. His '09 recruiting class was good enough, and the '11 class has potential, but he totally whiffed on the '10 class. If you only have 2 schollys to offer in '10, then you have to make those count when the program is in the shape it's in presently.
  17. well...at least IU made me a little money the last couple of months by being consistently worse than expected...there really aren't too many more positives than that this year..and the future isn't exactly beaming with promise.
  18. yeah, that's my take on it too.
  19. Not suprise. Auburn needed a special waiver just to get him enroll last year. They will say it's about the competition at QB, but this is purely based on his grades slipping. the kid is supposed to be fairly talented, but he was suspended before the bowl game because of academics. The coaching staff evidently thought it was risky to depend on him maintaining his grades as they aggressively pursued juco transfer, Cam Newton. Once Auburn had Cam on campus, there was talk that Rollinson wanted to transfer. The Auburn coaches were initially able to convince him to stay from what I read. I'm not sure that I buy the whole grades thing as being the reason he left. Wouldn't he have to maintain the same type of grades to remain eligible at Sam Houston State? They are D1, not a junior college. While Newton's signing delayed Rollinson's position at starter by 2 years, the kid still could have had a very successful junior and senior year as the starter...No matter whether he is leaving because of academics or because of competition, neither is very respectable, imo.
  20. Sissification is a normal progression; otherwise, we'd still be watching men fight each other, lions, gorillas, etc. to the death. Personally, I enjoy watching defensive backs torpedo the ball carrier and perhaps even man vs. lion.
  21. Rivals top 25 recruiters for the most recent class: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1049797 Cal's Tosh Lupoi is recruiter of the year.
  22. great game last night...i was raised to the love the Colts (father from Indianapolis), and I've grown to love the Saints in the 12.5 years of living in close proximity to them. I was happy to see New Orleans get the victory. Drew Brees has been amazing in New Orleans....I'm wondering whether they will let Reggie Bush sign with another team. I'm sure they'd like to keep him if the price is right, but I don't really think they have to keep him to contend again next year. He's definitely replaceable. Reggie's current contract stipulates that he gets a $500,000 bonus for the Super Bowl victory, btw.
  23. LSU had a good NSD. I believe they picked up all of these guys who weren't previously commited to LSU yesterday: 4* WR Kadron Boone 4* ATH Jarrett Fobbs 4* DE JC Copeland 4* DE JR Ferguson 3* LB Luke Muncie
