    It might be worth it just to get rid of him, but, as someone else mentioned, I doubt Hendry sees it that way.

    If he plays long enough, he'll break Reggie Jackson's all time strikeout record. That hardly makes him a free swinger. He had the fifth highest pitches per plate appearance in the majors last year at 4.24.

    To clarify something that I think you guys are missing, I'm using his projected WARP, not just his projected offensive stats. His Davenport translations peg him as a good defensive second-baseman compared to Walker's below average play, which makes up for the offensive difference. That being said, whether or not E-Pat would actually out produce Walker is not exactly relevant. What I like is that he has that potential, and that he's relatively close to the big leagues to boot.

    PECOTA actually projected him as a more valuable second baseman this year than either Todd Walker or Jerry Hairston.
