  1. I think if we could somehow pry Tejada from baltimore to play SS and lugo for 2B, we would be in business.
  2. im very PO'd that Cal is losing right now to Washington
  3. If I'm Hendry, I fork over 30 mil and dare anyone to try to beat it.
  4. I was trying to look for some ZiPS projections for Crawford for 07' when i found what his 06 one's where AB H AVG HR RBI R 633 194 0.306 19 76 102 compared to his actual stats AB H AVG HR RBI R 600 183 .305 18 77 89 I get chills about how close those two projections are. does anyone have his 2007 projections?
  5. If you're Hendry, what is the highest you think the tribune will allow you to bid?
  6. Ichiro is a much better defender than Jones and will keep base runners honest. I'd love to him have him atop the lineup for our big hitters to drive him in.
  7. Hahahhahaha post of the year material
  8. Wright and Reyes are the core of those good players, who happen to be extremely good and come from within and currently underpaid for their production. Their value allows the Mets to pay FA prices for Beltran and surround him with very good players. Exactly. Spend more money on player development too! Whatever it takes to do it from within, do it. They won't win without improving from within 1st. Not necessarily true. It's better for longterm stability to build from within true, but not necessary to win in the first place. Even being a Cubs fan, I still measure success in the long-term parameters rather than short spurts. how exactly can we alocate more monetary resources towards builing from within. Doesn't it all just start from the draft and player scouting in Latin America? Would spending more money on scouting be considered improving from within?
  9. The yankees are the last team on the planet right now that wants pitching prospecs. if they aren't ML ready blue chippers/ or all-star/former all start starters than it probably wont happen
  10. No. Z is the best player in that deal by far. ??? Z is great and all. I'm definitely one of his biggest fans, but how can you make that statement? ARod is one of the top 3 or so players in the game. If Zambrano is better than Arod...it certainly isn't "by far". Zambrano is one of the top 5 pitchers in the game, he is 25, hasn't even reached his prime yet. He is also the better value. When it comes to trades, that all it comes down to. Value.
  11. That infield would be the NL All-Star infield should our wildest dreams come true. It would also ironically unite Soriano and A-Rod.
  12. I don't think the Cubs would even have to take Pavano. Seriously, who takes bad contracts from the Yankees? And if ARod's contract doesn't help free space........................ I wouldn't call it so much taking on a bad contract as much as the yankees "ridding" themselves of that 2004 offseason. And I really think Pavano could have a good year in 07 for anyone but new york.
  13. Browsing the yankees message boards, they seem to think they would get zambrano in ANY trade with A-Rod. Are we being a little delusional here in believing that A-Rod could be had without trading Z, or are they? I think the Yankees would bite at a Hill, Prior, Eyre trade for Pavano and A-Rod.
  14. I think I'm going to adopt the Bears as my 2nd favorite team. They are a fun team to watch now-a-days.
  15. Would NY agree to any trade that doesn't involve Aramis? Any other decent FA 3rd baseman they could go for this year? Aubrey Huff is, and he seems like the type of player the yankees would overpay for. I think if the Yankees got back enough good pitching they'd pull the trigger on an A-Rod deal. The offense would not miss a beat IMO with the absense of A-Rod. It really isnt fair actually that they should have that kind of lineup.
  16. thats 70 mil on 12 players. Adding in the young guns Matt Murton - $350,000 Ryan Theriot - $350,000 Rich Hill - $350,000 Scott Moore - $350,000 Michael Wuertz - $500,000 David Aardsma - $300,000 Sean Marshall - $300,000 73.7M on 19 guys with 42M approx. to spend on 5 guys.
  17. \\ Why Prior? I'd avoid trading him because he's only had one year where he's really injury prone. Of course, you're toying with wasting his value if he's bad again this year, but i'd rather that we suck the remaining life out of his arm over the Yankees. If prior or no prior is a dealbreaker, than I trade them Prior. I would like to keep him, but a Prior, Eyre, Pie package to me looks like the only one that would get it done without trading away a keeper unless the Yankees really love Hill.
  18. Alright, can we just give Urlacher the Defensive POY now so I don't have false hopes of Bailey winning it.
  19. I think this might have been the most exciting 4th quarter I've seen since the 98 Broncos-Jax game.
  20. Chicago is going to the super bowl. I don't care who the QB is, this team has god behind it.
  21. I'm calling it right now. Bears INT coming up
