  1. as long the offense goes back to what they had been doing, and not what the Raiders have been doing. The offense hasn't even scored a TD for them. I can't believe that.
  2. Man Chicago is a special team.
  3. HAHAHAHAH I LOVE IT AND IM NOT EVEN A BEARS FAN. Don't even let Rex get a try to win the game for you, do it thru defense and special teams hahahaha
  4. if this was in Chicago, I think theyd be tearing the roof off the motherf**cker
  5. holy crap, urlacher just made me a believer
  6. Will the posting fee come out of this year budget of 115? If so, then Im guessing it will take all of that extra 15 mil just to try to contract him, how much will his actual contract be worth afterwards?
  7. The middle ground would be about 4.20. Which is above league average. And I do agree that he's not worth seeking out in a trade and Padilla is very likely to put up similar numbers. But the scenario here involves taking Hudson to facilitate getting Andruw Jones. And if the Braves eat some of Hudson's deal, Padilla won't be much cheaper. Hudson only makes 6M next year, Padilla will likely make more in 2007. FWIW, that 4.20 ERA would likely be about a 108 ERA+ next year. Padilla's career ERA+ is 106, and he hasn't been that high in 3 years. I might be more happy with Hudson if Jones was coming back in the trade. There's also always that possibility he has a resurgance and we get a ERA of 3.5-3.7 and an ERA+ of something like 120
  8. I love everything about San Diego but their coach. I wouldn't have laughed at the AFC side of your prediction. The NFC side on the other hand... :) Yeah, I hate Shotty. But I had to pick the Giants. I really like their team. They have Eli coming into his own. Their skill players are in their prime. They have a ton of defensive talent. And I have a thing against picking my team. Unfortunately, I'm usually right when NOT picking the Bears and Cubs. Don't forget Barber, he was looking amazing against a very good Run D today.
  9. Madden has been a few fries short of a Happy Meal for a long time now. I love how any praise for an NFC team has to come with that "in the NFC" caveat - it can't be "in the NFL." As a whole, is the NFC or AFC better? The AFC has been getting quite a bit of attention for the last several years, and rightfully so, with the success of the Pats and Steelers, plus the Colts having always been a powerhouse that just can't finish the job. Now Jax, SD, and Denver are all really good as well (SD is the team to beat in the AFC, imo), but I think the NFC is going to provide much better competition this year. The Bears are the best team in the league until otherwise proven, but the Eagles, Saints, and Falcons should all me making plenty of noise this year as well, and StL and Seattle should be good too. The thing with the NFC is it's always one powerhouse and the rest are just above average. Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Atlanta I dont think would go 9-7 in the AFC. There are at least 8 or 9 teams in the AFC that could go 11-5 in the NFC.
  10. How many of their top guys were acquired via trades using prospects from their respective farm systems? That's beside the point he was trying to make. NUN said that a team cannot win if it is based mostly upon outside acquisitions. Players acquired through trades fit that mold.
  11. Over the last 3 years, the cubs have arguably been the most injured team in baseball, at least when it comes to their core players. How much of that is just due to bad luck, player abuse, or a bad medical staff. I honestly feel that if all the players we have on this team currently could return to their prime form (not career years as much as career norms) we'd already be a force to be reckoned with.
  12. Boo. I will be so happy if UCLA can knock Brady Quinn on his candy ass next week.
  13. So all the 0 win teams have won a game so far today except for oakland. I don't like bad omens :(
  14. What a crazy day in football. My pick'em picks are absolutely shot.
  15. Quick Question. Who have been pitching coaches under Piniella and how much effect could a great one have on his decisions?
  16. I'm hoping he doesn't pretend signing A-Ram is just as good as signing a top-tier FA, thereby washing his hands of any bats on the market. I Don't think we'll see that. If hendry has one thing well, it's keeping his own guys. But that 15 mil boost that the Tribune has given us means to me that we are going to see a significantly different team next year, and we won't be satisfied with adding a few extra spare parts.
  17. I think whether or not we extend Ramirez will tell us if Hendry really wants to make a splash this offseason.
  18. QFFT I think next year we'll see alot less parity, and the level of competition will balance out. No more 85 win division winners
  19. He wasn't my first choice, but far from my last. I realize that he is very prejudiced against starting rookies but think about it this way. 1) This might be the last year for Hendry, I'm assuming that Lou is going to get a one year contract, so if we don't win this year, you'll see a complete regime change at least, and at best maybe even a new owner (Cuban anyone?) 2) Piniella is a much more fiery guy than Dusty. I understand that that fact is very overblown and doesn't mean much, but he IS an improvement, even if it is a small one. He also values plate patience and knows how to fill up a lineup card well. The one horrible thing that could happen is if Rothschild is reupped. We need a new pitching coach badly.
  20. WHAT?! My thoughts as well. Now if it were Marshall, Veal, Jones for Andruw and Hudson...that's a good deal. I'm just trying to make a trade that seems plausible. Don't forget last year the Red Sox traded both Anibal Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett and the Red Sox took on Mike Lowell's contract. I think you guys may be a bit unrealistic on what you can obtain. If you switch in Cesar Izturis for Jacque Jones would the trade become more palatable? ONe more thing if you are willing to overpay for guys like Soriano and Lee in free agency why is not acceptable to overpay to get guys through a trade? If you want to build a winner immediately you are going ot have to overpay. but you're trading for a guy who is probably on the back end of productivity in his career, and has an albatross contract that might be the difference between us being able to sign our core players to extensions.
  21. My Top 15 after tonight 1. Ohio State 2. Michigan 3. USC 4. West Virginia 5. Texas 6. Auburn 7. Louisville 8. Tennesee 9. California 10. Notre Dame 11. Clemson 12. Florida 13. Georgia Tech 14. LSU 15. Arkansas
  22. not enough for hendry's taste. Better jack it up another 5M
  23. This is huge. that extra 15 mil is the difference between only 1 impact player, and maybe 3. 1) Hire Piniella 2) Sign Daisuka Matsuzaka for 13 mil~ + posting fee 3) Sign Jason Schmidt for 12 mil~ 4)Trade Jones, Marmol, Soto, Sweeney, Gruzielanek, and Sisco to Dodgers Drew, and Emil Brown to Cubs Mateo, Izturis, and Dempster to Royals 5) Trade Prior, Eyre, Gallagher, and Veal to Yankees for A-Rod and Pavano 6) Trade Dopirak, Marshall, and Cedeno to Reds for Ryan Freel 7) Sign Tony Graffanino (3M~) 8) Sign Zambrano (10M) and Ramirez (13M) to Extensions 1 - Freel CF (1.5M) 2 - Murton LF (350k) 3 - Lee 1B (13M) 4 - Rodriguez SS (16M) 5 - Ramirez 3B (13M) 6 - Drew RF (11M) 7 - Barrett C (4M) 8 - Theriot 2B (350k) SP1 - Zambrano (10M) SP2 - Matsuzaka (13M~) SP3 - Schmidt (12M~) SP4 - Hill (350k) SP5 - Pavano (10M) Bullpen Wood (3M) Aardsma (350k) Ryu (350k) Ohman (750k) Howry (4M) Wuertz (350k) Guzman (350k) Bench C - Blanco (1M) IF - Graffanino (3M~) IF - Moore (350k) OF - Coats (350k) OF - Brown (1.4M)
