  1. What the Cubs were first in something? Can we start a winning streak? That'd be great. It doesn't surprise me that the Braves clubhouse has problems, always thought there were just too many egos there (esp. Andruw Jones) to be a chummy as it has always sounded. Well, we've got a 3-gamer going right now, let's see if we can push it to 4 or 5 before Lee has to serve his suspension. Hear hear! I just get so jealous of those 8-10 gamers I see other teams having. Would be nice to experience I'd imagine.

  3. We were scared to just give him away to the Sox when he could still hurt us. Either way it is nice that this manager doesn't run him out there everyday because he is proven. No way the previous guy plays Pie everday over Jones.Agreed. Although I would've liked to see Pie sit yesterday, play today, but overall, just glad it isn't Jones
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2914283 Smoltz v. Lar-ry. Sounds like it could get ugly there.

  6. I'm on the fence about this game. Don't have a good feeling even though I like Marshall. I just have a feeling something bad is gonna happen. i.e Soriano/someone else hit, Umps losing it for us, Contreras owns us, etc. Hope I'm wrong--SWEEP!
  7. FWIW- On ESPN's Rumor Central front page (sorry no Insider) it is insinuating Grif to the North Side and Jaques to Texas. Again, I know they just search and copy, but there it is if anyone wants to check it out.
  8. first time ever, IBL
  9. Fixed. Yankees need some help and we should be able to work something out somewhere.
  10. When is ARAM ready to come off? Or is there anything further with his injury?
  11. I thought QFT was Quite F****** True. Guess it does mean that sort of.
  12. Hmmm...Didn't know you could "sport" a record that bad.
  13. release Eyre, release Eyre... Congrats to Sean Peoria and thanks to him if Eyre is the one gone as well.
  14. Yeah, its a baseball package for me really. And anyway, its my wife's hard earned cash, not mine.
  15. Been talking to DISH for awhile regarding this. Looks like no EI for us. MLB wants them to carry the baseball channel on their lowest tier channel package and that is their breaking point apparently. Oh well, they did tell me that they are allowed to keep negotiating, no table closings or deadline. Anyway, back to XM for me I suppose.
  16. While playing SS at age 12, I went for a ball in short left, dove backwards, hit my head and was knocked out. First thing I remember was my Dad/coach in the dugout, but everyone told me the first thing I asked when I came to was, "Did I hold on?" And I did. Hopper should be suspended.
  17. Bases loaded in San Diego, 1 out - GIDP 1st and Third in LA, 0 out, fails to make solid contact, runner is held at third Cubs don't score. I could point out several of those cases for Theriot as well-or Cedeno, who was much worse than Izturis: As a SS this year: Izturis-.271/.333/.331 Theriot-.206/.341/.235 Cedeno-.091/.130/.273 Overall Theriot-.278/.343/.338 Izturis-.267/.328/.325 Cedeno: .097/.121/.323 SS as a whole has been a problem for the Cubs this year-not any individual player. Theriot has a 28 point advantage over Izturis in OPS-that's not a very large difference. Any of the Cubs SS is not the reason we are terrible. That's true. SS is actually right about where it's expected to be, maybe even a little bit better. Barrett being terrible, Jones being terrible, Murton/Floyd both being below average, Soriano with the power, and the bullpen are all underperforming what they were expected to do. And Lee with the power/lack thereof.
  18. Shoot, I threw 92 in HS. That was a mere 10 years ago. I prolly could hit 81 and I'd even sign for the minimum.
  19. He got him to second... It's hard to give Hank much credit for the WP. Just trying to be positive and/or sarcastic
  20. Ty and Ty
  21. Anybody know what Len and Bob are talking about? Apparently, Ozzie called into a talk show and there were fireworks. Anything further would be appreciated, thanks.
  22. For an often immature pitcher? Not that I like the deal anyway, but with those lyrics he could at least entertain during rain delays or add a bit of spice to the stretch. :D
  23. Agreed. Izturis (not a fan mind you) is having a very good run right now. That said, I don't expect it to continue, but he isn't going anywhere right now. Deadline maybe? Hopefully he can stay hot til then and we get more for him in a package, but not right now.
  24. how soon for lineups? or do we just wait until gametime?
