    The Reds are out of it. By trading Dunn, they are waving the white flag anyways. What do they care? What if Dunn gets hurt in those few games he is playing against the Cubs and the Reds lose out on a package of prospects because they didn't want him to hurt them right away. That actually makes sense to me, I hadn't thought of that. It works better than Jersey saying how dumb that idea is. So, I guess I am on board for the trade now I guess, where do we sign? :wink:

I mean, I know its happened before and probably will again, and I know Krivsky isn't bright, but it just doesn't ring true to me. It would be incredibly stupid to hold up a trade for that reason. It would also be incredibly stupid to trade a player if you don't have to yet, i.e the deadline isn't till after the series. But excuse me for suggesting it, just seemed a bit off to me. That's a valid thought, but you also have to look at it from the prospective that Cincy might want to get their new players asap and not just beat around the bush with it. They won't be getting NEW players, they'll be getting players we don't want hopefully--Jones, Eyre, etc.

    Hasn't been mentioned yet, BUT why would they trade him to us before our series with them begins?? IF this is true, they would wait, at the very least, until after this upcoming series.

    I have taken my one year old to three games now. 2 minors (including Sunday night in Little Rock) and one in ATL to see Cubs last Sept. (she was three months at the time) Seating is a VERY important factor. Not just sun, but foul balls, company, bathroom accessability, etc. Just some things to consider. Kids and ballparks go great together, but there is some serious planning and foresight required. Hope this helps.

    Well, believe it or not, I left that game in the 7th cuz the kids were getting antsy. Just got back home from Little Rock right now and logged on to find this. Had to read it a couple times to make sure. I was there seeing a buddy from HS who plays for the Travellers. Wow, glad I wasn't there with the kids when this happened. Prayers for the family and team.

    I would think that too except we've seen comments made by Hendry/organization regarding how much they value him. (i.e The San Diego Padres interest and iirc the Reds too?) No, unless they are saying that just to make other clubs offer more, I believe they still have long term plans for him. And I also believe they are jerking him around in the meantime.

    Bonds sticking around just to break personal records that are likely tainted anyway, gives guys like Al Kaline an even better image. I mean Kaline quit with 399, knowing he wouldn't be playing his best or helping the team the way he thought he should. Whether he ever did performance enhancing drugs or not, his attitude and disrespect for the game are reason enough to hate him. You'd think someone with his heritage and upbringing would show some class towards the game and those who paved the way... Ok rant over, Go Cubs

    I tink, IIRC, it was closer to 400 HRs. I think I read that when he dies in 05 at 103. However, it can also be (easily, whether rightfully so or not) argued he played against far weaker competition in the Mexican leagues, barn storming Canada, and Negro League ball to an extent. Anyway, no time to research all that, just remembering what I read two years ago is enough work. :)

Baltimore: GAAAAHHH!! Hendry, you beat us again!" Not that this wasn't funny, but I am pretty sure I laughed harder than I should've.

    you are low-balling the kid then eh? i expect above .260 easily BP's predicted line (prior to this season's big AAA year): .235/.307/.336 I'm definitely hoping the huge numbers in AAA this year are a harbinger of future fortunes for Soto, but the fact that he's never been good with the bat before still has me worried. He's still an improvement over what we've had - I just wonder how much of one. first of all...his name is soto is four the magic number? theriot fontenot soto cedeno O boy!     He's in the last year of his contract and I'm assuming the Cubs would pick some of the remaining money up, so he would be a fairly cheap "solution" to anyone desperately needing middle infield help. That's desparation at its finest. The Orioles are playing Brandon Fahey at SS, they are desperation defined. Sadly--or maybe more accurate--amazingly, the Red Sox have Lugo there and we all know how bad he's been. Izzy would be a cheap help to them perhaps. Just spitballing here is all. lol...one of my god friends is a sox fan...oh my...i would love to hear his reaction to that one! but...honestly...i would think that lowrie would be pulled up way before entertaining any thoughts about last night's waffle house leftovers Agreed. And we know Theo is a bit smarter (or at least has better philosophies) than most other GM's. However, many GMs are looking for cheap ML ready rentals for pushes towards playoffs. Worse comes to worst for them, they leave him off the playoff roster, call up Lowrie, and we're still paying a majority of salary. Or best case, Lugo starts hitting, Izzy becomes jack of all trades back up or they DFA him. It gets him off of our roster. Oh, and I have Sox friends too, and that would be great to hear their reactions.

    I have no issue with the yell, as playing sports for many years, I have yelled to distract in baseball, basketball, soccer, etc. The slap is pretty cheap and un-defendable however. Then you are bush league too. You don't do that, period. So much for attack the post not the poster. I guess you haven't been to too many sporting events or played in very many. I don't need to go much further on this since everyone else has already spoken up, but, apart from cheating or breaking rules, you do any and everything you can as an athlete to gain an advantage over an opponent--whether it be verbal or physical.

    hey he walked twice today... i think there are a lot of guys on the team who we should crap on for their lack of discipline, but he's not one of them I'm not "crapping" on him. Would it or would it not have been nice for him to show the same discipline he exhibited earlier in the game in the at bat in the 7th? That's my only point.
