  1. I am torn, I want Z to go 7 or 8 strong, but I also want to see Kerry. Maybe we will have a 4 or 5 run lead and he can do mop up work in the 9th. Go Cubs!
  2. Getting late for no lineups to be posted...nothing on USA Today, CBS, or Yahoo yet
  3. According to Omar's numbers, apparently Z should start or at least pinch hit. 2.500 OPS (I know, I know, sample size.) Go Cubs, 2 more months Side Note: Karl Ravech on BBTN made his "BOLD PREDICTION" that the Cubs will lead the Central by more games that any other division leader by August's end
  4. If true, the aftermath of today's game would be more important than the outcome of the game itself.I suggested this last week in the "BCB Rumor on Adam Dunn" thread, and was pretty much called an idiot for suggesting it, but for some reason it made sense to me. Davhern finally got me off that belief but it has stuck in the back of my mind that the deadline date and this series fall close enough together it just might be. Here's hoping.
  5. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought McDonough said there were no restrictions. I know we have gone back and forth on this pretty much all season, but didn't he say that last week (or two) in regards to the trading deadline?
  6. Greg Reynols and Franklin Moralers The Wranglers graduated Hochevar, I guess Mike Sodotka? Also looks like Adam Greenberg is there too. They are doing the Coolbaugh memorial on Tues night and I am headed to Tulsa to see it.
  7. Just out of curiousity, is there anyone in particular I should be looking at at this game prospect wise? I know the Drillers ok, not too familiar with the Wranglers. TIA
  8. Sunday when I saw him in Iowa, he looked much more relaxed in RF. He was getting good jumps, covering quite a bit of ground and made some tough plays that looked like extra bases of the bat. He should be an upgrade over Floyd defensively. A wooden cutout of Murton wouldnt be that far behind Floyd defensively. With or without the wheelchair? He gets the wheelchair, but one wheel doesn't spin... so all he can do is spin around in circles. At least he can make ESPN's highlight reel then when he spins his back to home plate and catches it Willie style.
  9. you aren't raising him as a cub fan, are you? <----My one year old (Rian Grace) just said Cubs on Sunday. Great moment for me. :D Earlier in the season my seven year old asked if the Cubs were really the best then why did they lose so much? I told her they were just being good sports, and letting other teams win sometimes. My wife did this:
  10. Because a everyday player (if you can call Griffey that) that can help on a daily basis, not once every 5 days... OK, I'll play along. So you get Marshall for one of our starting five - who replaces him? Not my desire, but... Demp to the rotation, Marmol/Howry close, the other sets up, and Woody is back mid-August.
  11. Burwell of StL P-D
  12. Who is doing the ESPN game? Probably HD muted for me with Len and Bob cranked up from the other room.
  13. Pittsburgh's radio and TV guys are just plain awful. Dead-air, moronic comments, stories that have no relevance, etc. I listen to music while watching those games.
  14. Funniest moment to me: Al "This is when Albert is at his very best" referring to men on base and RBI situations. Mid-sentence, Pujols popped out to short right/deep second. No mention of anything, dead-air for 15 seconds. I gotta believe someone hit the sneeze button and swore to themselves.
  15. yes i can definitely confirm this (him not being liked in philly) To be fair, is there anybody that the Philly fans like? And not just the Phillies either, I'm talking any of their sports teams. Yeah, they even booed Mike Schmidt... And Santa, and Michael Irvin as he was being carted off after breaking his neck...
  16. No, but we made another one after (Simon).Well that blows the "smaller before larger" case outta the water, I guess. Except maybe in weight.
  17. .386/.456/.653 (1.109 OPS/183 OPS+) career against the Cards in 14 PAs. 7 doubles, 1 triple, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 13 BB, 3 IBB, 21 Ks, 3 SB & 1 CS. Also the only team in the MLB he has a 1.000 OPS against. And from stats posted previously in this thread, he kills Wells as well.
  18. No, I don't believe they are. Everybody talks about every small deal as an in to the same 2 teams making larger deals, and I just don't see it. I guess it comes from the tendency of some GMs to deal with the same group of GMs on a regular basis. But I wouldn't characterize any recent Cubs trade, with SD, OAK or PITT, as a precursor to something larger. Did we make a trade with Pitt before we got Lofton/Ramirez? I can't remember. Maybe you're right about the same groups/circles creating that sense.
  19. Why? Serious why or sarcastic why? They wouldn't trade him to a team they are about to play and have him turn around and hurt them right away would they? In the division no less? I mean, I know its happened before and probably will again, and I know Krivsky isn't bright, but it just doesn't ring true to me. It would be incredibly stupid to hold up a trade for that reason. It would also be incredibly stupid to trade a player if you don't have to yet, i.e the deadline isn't till after the series. But excuse me for suggesting it, just seemed a bit off to me. That's a valid thought, but you also have to look at it from the prospective that Cincy might want to get their new players asap and not just beat around the bush with it. They won't be getting NEW players, they'll be getting players we don't want hopefully--Jones, Eyre, etc. They won't just give away Dunn... and even if they do accept jones and eyre, they would at least have to believe they could help the team some how and would want them soon. I would think that Murton would be a part of any deal for Dunn. I like Murton, but if we could convince Dunn to not bolt after the year, I'd be okay with that. But just for a rental, asking too much would scare me off at least.
  20. The Reds are out of it. By trading Dunn, they are waving the white flag anyways. What do they care? What if Dunn gets hurt in those few games he is playing against the Cubs and the Reds lose out on a package of prospects because they didn't want him to hurt them right away. Just out of curiousity, what do you think the odds are that if they trade Dunn they wait until the last minute to see how good of an offer they can get? If they truly are shopping him and fielding offers, they may wait till the 13th hour to see who makes the best pitch. I agree on th elong shot aspect. Aren't the deals leading up to many times pre-cursors to larger deals between the same teams? If so, would that lend itself to us dealing with Pittsburgh? Probably pretty good odds. But every trading deadline has a couple deals go down in the days leading up to it. It depends on what others are offering, and what else they think the Cubs are after. If, for instance, they thought Chicago was either going to trade for Dunn or Tejada, they'd think twice about waiting out a Cubs offer if they got one they liked, because there's always the possibility they pull the offer and go for the other guy. That being said, Dunn coming to the Cubs is a huge long shot. I agree with the long shot belief. Aren't many of the smaller deals leading up to the deadline usually pre-cursors to larger deals between the same teams? If so, does that lend itself to us dealing with Pitt.?
  21. Especially during the summer. Amen, been chasing my 1 yr old all over the house wishing there was a Cubs game on, and now that she is napping, I look at the time and its still 2 hours!
  22. he'd probably hit 40 homers too. But his OBP would be AVG heavy
