  1. That sounds familiar. I began brainwashing..eh..."training" my kids at birth...My wife was born and raised here...but she's to the point where she'd rather the Cubs win because she knows I'm easier to live with when they do. <----- That was at 9 months. My wife corrected one of her friends that other day when they said "...so from April till September, you have to deal with the Cubs?" My wife said, "No, its a full year thing, but the season starts in February when pitchers and catchers report." Never been so turned on in my life.
  2. I went from me and my best friend vs. all Astro fans in S. Texas, to me and my brainwashed kids and tolerant wife against all Cards fans in NW Arkansas.
  3. Single to LF scored Pie from 2nd base. ty
  4. Pardon the ignorance, but what did "LEE" do?
  5. Is Suppan just throwing well or are we just stinking, honestly?
  6. He just cannot turn on any (most) pitches anymore for power, even Little League fastballs.
  7. Not trying to be a dick, but there are things such as gamecast and yahoo, who do pbp, and you can follow every pitch. Guess you don't have to try. How often do those freeze up? How hard is it to comment on a game in a game thread? double play inning over cubs with bats now better? TY sir

  9. What happened to the people who actually did some PbP on here? These "Game" Threads have turned into Gripe threads and half the time, those of us who can't watch have zero clue as to what is actually happening in the game. Thanks in advance to those of you who do try.
  10. For those watching, is the wind really 12 mph out to CF? If so, there will be more than one run scored, not saying by who mind you, but more than one
  11. Nice to see Murton get the nod over Monroe vs. a righty after that good showing last night.
  12. I don't think ESPN televises games that do not include the Yankees or Red Sox, do they? Fixed Just beat me
  13. I don't think ESPN televises games on Friday nights, do they? If its Yankees or red Sox related they do
  14. Which reminds me of the Corey Patterson "we want you to be a slap/bunt/speed guy, wait how about hitting for power, no forget that back to speed." This org. is great at jerking people around. The problem with that is that we didn't really see Murton go for the "more aggressive" approach until this year after Dusty and co. were gone. Why would he be applying the ideas of the old coaches under the new ones when he was seemingly ignoring the old coaches when they were here? I didn't say Dusty, I said this organization. The Patterson incident was with Dusty, but Murton's is probably with new hitting coach, trying to impress new manager, asked to do something unfamiliar at a older age than most prospects, and mot of all pressuring himself to please everyone. I feel if he just went out and played his game--patience, gap-to-gap hitter-- whether it be 1 PA a week or 25, this whole situation would resolve itself rather quickly.

  16. Yes! Kevin Foster with no win and a Todd Zeile sighting!
  17. True. I am guessing there isnt even a debate with other fans who is a better 2nd baseman between Sandberg and Morgan. I can't speak to multitudes of other fans, but 2 of my Astros friends from South Texas sent me this article link with a huge "WHAT?!?!" attached. So...at least some other fans agree. And Rob, you are correct.
  18. No, and your opinion. I am not going to state as fact who was better or worse overall and all-time, because that would be my opinion, however, I will amend my previous statement. Morgan was 3/4 the fielder Sandberg was, better? And Sandberg does get left off many "all-time lists" unjustly.
  19. No argument there. However, if, as you say, Ryno took every opportunity to toot his own horn, I am sure he would factor in much more to these votes. Must disagree here. Morgan, while great, not the greatest ever. Was immensely helped by one of the best lineups in history and while winning this vote, was not half the fielder Sandberg was.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2985977 Morgan has now beaten Ryno in the Gold glove department too. Ryno lost out being left of the list in the All-Century Team and has now finished 3rd behind Morgan & Alomar for best fielding. The man gets no love.
  21. Why go straight to negatives? Sosa was a monster also, see we can do it both ways. Being positive here for a Cubs position draft pick to pan out.
  22. You really don't want a ram and a rod so close together. Say Car Ram Rod! Say it!
