  1. I'd be surprised if Wood were back, unlss he pulls a Red Baron and goes 16-1 the rest of the way to lead the Cubs to a historical comeback and playoff berth
  2. Not sure what you are trying to say, but thanks for the contribution.
  3. I know, I know: NTC. But Mike and Mike started yapping about this morning in light of yesterday's solid performance and several teams need a starter, so the rumors are in play. Lets collect them here. Mike and Mike of course mentioned the Yanks.
  4. Dascenzo is a good call, but Bully is a great call. That guy could flat out rake!
  5. Nice win. Love Vince Vaughn. The sprinkler guy was hysterical. very entertaining overall.
  6. Yay!!! :wall: :wall:
  7. Mr. Brenly, your fitting room is located under the stands... Seriously, it can't be worse than this. This is historical in its badness.
  8. Just to to try and refocus the discussion, the idea is to look at the list I posted, opine as to which of those teams was worst, and compare to the 06' team if you wish. Its really not an age thing. If you are 19, it doesn't mean you can't know your history, look at the 62' team for example, and realize they were horrendous.
  9. I'd love to have those HRs back; problem is it would be nice to combine that with guys who know how to get on base also. The Cards seem to have figured this out; too bad we can't.
  10. I would never root against this team. Its not their fault that the GM put them on the same field even though several of them should be in AAA, the Northern League, or the scrap heap. I will boo them when they make fundamental errors such as the horrendous fielding we have witnessed over the last few days, but I will never root against the possibility of success. I do, however, root against management's philosophy that led to the roster we have, and wish they would trade the parts that have some value (Walker, Pierre, Maddux) and let our prospects play out the string. Find out what you have to build around Lee, ARam and Barrett, and then go out this off-season and make a splash.
  11. They nearly made the cut, but I thought better of it for reasons I cannot recall. Also, I did not include the strike-shortened 81' team b/c I already had the 94' team on the list. I have no reason for this other than it seemed like a good idea at the time....sort of like hiring Dusty in 03'.
  12. I think after yesterday's game I am ready to start putting the 06' version in some sort of context with other horrendous teams that have embarassed us in the past. Here's a list of the worst teams in franchise history since WWII (generally considered the "modern era" amongst historians), IMO, beginning with the most recent: 2000:http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/2000.shtml 1997:http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1997.shtml 1994:http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1994.shtml 1980: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1980.shtml 1974: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1974.shtml 1966: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1966.shtml 1962: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1962.shtml 1957: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1957.shtml 1949: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1949.shtml IMO, it doesn't get much worse than 62' or 57'. Beyond the embarassing lineups, check out the picthing. Those ERAs would be terrible in 06', and therefore were historically awful in the 50's and 60's. Lets get some opinions and debate.[/url]
  13. Nominee for year's most loaded question.
  14. What the heck is ARam doing in the six hole? This might be the orst lineup I have ever seen.
  15. Not exactly the 62' Mets either (they were better).
  16. http://www.shamrocketship.com/photos/december_2004/shocking.jpg SHOCKING!!!
  17. He would be hysterical in RF at Wrigley. It would be like a side show.

Its gonna hurt when theBulls break the hearts of a second generation of Cavs fans.... O:)
  19. Cut him and bring up Womack!!!
  20. He's using the grocery store as a metaphor, guys.
  21. Agreed. In a deal for Dunn or Cabrera, I'd trade him.
  22. Read my stuff over the past few weeks. I constantly mention it and ask about it. How do you know nobody has asked about it? I ask about it every day and write about it more than anybody. This is an organization that clearly values other stats. Broooooooooossssssssssssssss: :hammer:
  23. RynoRules

Agreed - he'll want at least three years, and his game is based largely on his athleticism. Danger, Will Robinson! Still, its very tempting...
  24. This isn't Jones hate! Its hate of financially bloated teams that are on pace to lose 100 games. If you are going to lose, do it like the Fish are and find out which young guys with potential are worth keeping. Again, I'd love to see: OF: Pie, Murton, Montanez/Restovich/Coats IF: ARam, Lee, Cedeno, EPatt/Lewis C: Barrett This allows you to deal the vets who have no place for more young help. You will no doubt find that some of these guys either aren't very good or aren't ready. But now that you have payroll flexibility, you go out and sign a couple of FAs to fill in the blanks in the lineup around Lee, ARam and Barrett. In other words, tear it down and rebuild it.
  25. "Well, if by 'run away freight train' you mean that we are headed in the right direction at break-neck pace, I agree. Just that some bad luck has intervened."
