  1. That was my first thought also. So basically, this team and the 04' team both are driven to distraction by the media, but the 04' team could actually play.
  2. Smith is clearly in the conversation, but here is my Top 5: 1) Sanders 2) Payton 3) Brown 4) Smith 5) The Juice And I am a Bears fan, BTW. Payton was my hero as a kid.
  3. Do you mean that we should negotiate frm a strong position? Gosh darn-it that's a good idea!
  4. Bill Simmons is an NBA guru? Nah. Bill Simmons isn't a guru of anything other than writing Boston-centric, poorly researched articles filled with boring pop culture references and analogies. You are right about the third year thing though. I wouldn't necessarily call Bill Simmons a guru but he is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to basketball. And he hates what the Bulls are doing. Probably b/c they aren't trying hard enough to reinvent the 86' Celtics.
  5. which is exactly the problem with your argument because...let's say it one more time...football statistics do not measure individual performance. you absolutely have to use subjectivity and what ifs in football. there is no two ways around it. if I am not mistaken, Moneyball includes a couple of paragraphs about why it is possible to use stats to compare players in baseball but it doesn't work out so well in other sports. using stats to be objective is a real popular argument around here. hard to get a word in edgewise actually. the problem is you are using that argument in a different sport. one more time...the reason you can do it with baseball is because the stats measure individual performance. the reason you can't do it in football is because the stats don't measure individual performance. Agreed. Individual stats are far less accurate measure of worth in football. And I also recall that Lewis stated as much in Moneyball.
  6. I likes. How about JR Smith and Sweetney for Wilcox?
  7. Piatkowski signd with the Suns. The Bulls picked up Allen's option. Songalia has filed for FA, but the Trib says there is a good chance he will be back. Schensher could be back. Harrington won't be back.
  8. Corey Hart? http://www.interq.or.jp/www1/onj1/corey/sunglasses.jpg
  9. The irony is Stone wasn't as critical when it was a team 30 games under 500. He only became Steve Stone, defender of all truth and justice once he had beefs with the players. Absolute hogwash. Yeah, I don't agree with that either.
  10. Cute....So many horrendous puns...so little time. I smell a break-off thread here...
  11. Has anybody else ever been banned twice? If so, what's the record? Why do you ask? Are you hiding something? Looks as if we have another wiseguy here boys....whatya think we should do? He should be made to edit that horrendous pun in your sig.  Yeah it is pretty bad. I'll change it soon with something even worse. How about: "Johnnie B. Baker, excuse maker."
  12. Has anybody else ever been banned twice? If so, what's the record? Why do you ask? Are you hiding something? Looks as if we have another wiseguy here boys....whatya think we should do? He should be made to edit that horrendous pun in your sig.
  13. Pax ripped them off in a huge way. I can't believe they got Smith also. That kid's ceiling is very high, and even if he doesn't fit with us, someone else will want him.
  14. ...on ESPN 1000 here in the Second City. I don't know exactly what time he is scheduled for - the show airs from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time. If I am still in my office when he is on, I'll try and post a recap. If not, perhaps someone else can pick up the ball.
  15. Obviously Hendry deserves much of the blame, but this is a good step in the right direction if it happens. Hendry will then be on an Isiah Thomas like one year, plan IMO (i.e., if they stink again in 07', I think his head will role in spite of the fact that he will have a year left on his deal).
  16. Agreed. I thought he was simply saying "We all stink", and not "Its the pitchers fault."
  17. The Cubs do not have a nucleus of position players, their position players suck. They need to put together a lineup and a pitching staff. Do you really want to get rid of all the position players? If not, who would you keep. I'd guess DLee. Anyone else? Barrett? ARam? Murton? Cedeno? Walker (maybe for one more year)? None of the above? Only Lee approaches irreplacable status, but I'd trade any of them in the right deal. Agreed. BTW, I l read up on Shines in Rogers' article this morning. Seems like a sharp guy. 8-[ Lets hope that Sullivan is dead on here.
  18. I'd like to note that someone above referred to Lebron as the greatest player of all time. I assume he meant the greatest player of his era. Either way, how about waiting for the guy to win one before annointing him as such?
  19. Perception is reality. I remember that run of greatness that Rock had, and he seemed like a Franchise guy back then. However, with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, we know that he was not. Its a tough call.
  20. In response to the title of this thread: http://www.savemyjob.com
  21. Not quite, the Bulls get $8M in cap space next offseason if they trade Tyson for Brown, about half the cap space they started with this offseason. 8 mill can get you quite a nice player...plus we'll have Odem. :wtg:
  22. No, but some are significantly downplaying his value. He's no Tim Duncan, but he provides more overrall value than say, Ilgauskas. Jealousy is a terrible thing, is it not?
  23. And for those of you trying to figure why the Hornets would want to do the deal, consider that they have drafted Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons, and signed Peja and Jackson. They are buiding some real depth there.
