  1. Why the horsefeathers can't the Illini just buy a championship? IU did so in football which is arguably more difficult to do than basketball. Doesn't Illinois have a version of Mark Cuban? If not, maybe, several multi-millionaire Illini alum can pool their resources. I want to see an Illini National Championship in basketball just once in my lifetime.
  2. NCAA D1 Hockey Bracket - Thursday/Friday - hockey is gong to flow right into BB, don't think I'll get much done.
  3. Regarding Illinois - Houston, objectively, most of what's here makes sense - Sweet Sixteen Picks - but, it is the Illini and Brad Underwood. Playing the Cougars in horsefeathers Houston. Man, I loathe everything about Houston mainly, their POS coach. If the Illini can't get the job done, as much as it pains me to say, I hope Nebraska/Iowa can take them down. Even though chances are Nebraska/Iowa won't be able to get the job done either, I still want to see Sampson fail.
  4. In 2022 Houston had the physical advantage over the Illini. Illini were also dealing with pink eye, concussions, locust swarms, etc., neither of these things are the case this time. In fact, the Illini have the physical advantage in size and should, provided the officiating doesn't let Houston get away with too much of their hacking, control the boards.
  5. I still believe Ayo was not right as well, towards the end of Big Ten Championship game he got popped in the head. Coming off a concussion/MSU punch there's no way it wasn't re-aggravated.
  6. Was thinking the same, they'll probably lose to Houston. And Houston will beat Nebraska/Iowa.
  7. Him and Pearl both cut from the same cloth and that cloth is very slimy.
  8. On one hand it'd be awesome if they could beat Houston. On the other hand it would so on brand for Underwood to beat Houston only to lose to Nebraska/Iowa in the regional final.
  9. Purdue - Miami was interesting in that it appeared Miami has the goods to beat Purdue but, couldn't get out of their own way. Don't get me wrong, glad the Boilers won. Maybe, they were fortunate playing an extremely mistake prone Miami team.
  10. If I were Brad I'd pull a Lute Olson on Houston, start whining, complaining about their overt physicality. But, seriously, if the Illini can pass out of Houston' swarming, hacking, grabbing double teams they'll have open wide open looks. Making those open looks will go a long way towards winning. Watched Houston quit a few times and I'll give Big 12 officiating credit, they know Houston commits a lot of fouls and they call them.
  11. Hey, by the way, Tomi looked like more than a walking corpse last night. And this - https://writingillini.com/andrej-stojakovic-reminds-illinois-how-unselfish-he-is-with-amazing-postgame-message?page_source=v_recirc - does not sound like a guy who has checked out, he's about as far from checked out as one could be.
  12. Except for a bit in the first half total domination for the Illini tonight. Nice win.
  13. Illini need to remember they have the big advantage in size and physicality, they can force their will on VCU. Let's hope they bring it tonight.
  14. You mean fouling before the 3 attempt, correct?
  15. It's probably best to ignore the broadcasting and focus upon the game.
  16. I knew if the Illini came out aggressive and physical it wouldn't be a close game. Same recipe for VCU, come to play and they should win.
  17. Jason Benetti is the biggest Fears apologist out there, what, is he getting paid by Izzo/MSU to continue to wax poetic about Fears? Blabbing about Fears performance against the Illini after he cheap shot-ed the Minnesota guard. Failing to mention Fears tried to trip Mirkovic, nope, keeps talking up Fears.
  18. Yes, I'll own it, after seeing what Boyd/Blackwell did to Illinois and Michigan, didn't really think HP had a chance. Maybe, the Badgers should have found a way to bring Big Ten officiating with them.
  19. Seriously Wisconsin? WTF? You're money against Illinois and Michigan but can't beat HP? Boyd and Blackwell have been great but, when there's not another option it's easy to defend or, at least, the other team knows who's going to take all the shots. And, what do you know, no Big Ten whistles to bail out Boyd and Blackwell flipping and flopping. The result? Wisconsin losses.
  20. Forgot about Iowa, they may not beat Clemson, believe they've a chance to win.
  21. Well, it begins, with the exception of Ohio State I believe all the Big Ten teams will handily win their 1st Rd. games. I think OSU will win, it'll be close, at times, TCU has looked very good. They were kicking the horsefeathers out of Kansas for a good portion of their game in Lawrence, faded down the stretch and lost in OT. They beat Iowa State and earlier beat Florida and Wisconsin, they're a good team.
  22. Heard something about Penn giving up a ridiculous amount of points in the paint. Tomi and Mirk should feast inside, start with that, then when the double teams come, pass outside for open 3's.
  23. Man, if the Illini can get their horsefeathers together a road to the FF is there for them. The weakest 14 seed and probably, with UNC' injuries, the weakest 6/7 match up. Maybe, even the weakest 1 and 2 seeds in Florida and Houston. I've complained about the Illini get bent over with tournament match ups before, not this time, the committee made a nice run possible.
  24. I think you're correct in that if any of Johnson or Mara stays it be Johnson.
