  1. Seth Davis, the tool, with his typical negative view of Illinois gives them no chance vs Purdue.
  2. Funny how he manages to make some sort of scene during every game he officiates.
  3. Some of MSU' weaknesses showing up TOs and OSU had been keeping them off the offensive boards and thus, limited their scoring.
  4. I hope its Penn State for the Illini tomorrow.
  5. When was the last time Meacham hit a shot? He's not even coming close...
  6. What has he done in the last 2 years to make you so sure? I'm not saying he can't, I just see no reason to believe it's a near certainty. He'll be eligible from the start of the season, no mid-December start, along with another year of being exposed to Weber' system. If he's ever to become a factor it's going to be next season, it's not a near certainty but, if Legion has Pro expectations the clock's ticking.
  7. I don't believe PSU will suck, I believe Illinois will be much improved over this year, Tisdale and Davis with more bulk and strength just might form the best front court tandem in the B10. McCamey will improve, and the non-factor Legion will become a factor.
  8. The officiating was dog crap both ways all night. The out of bounds where Davis kicked it and UI got the ball, the traveling calls on Tisdale when he was getting mugged, and just generally very inconsistent on calling fouls all night. I thought the tending call was ok, UI got nailed for a worse one against MSU last Sunday. I just hope MSU beats Purdue this weekend so we don't have to play Sparty before the finals if we can get that far. A trip to the finals will help seeding, although I never really think getting a 4 or 5 seed is that great of a deal. I'd almost rather be a 6 because all the teams after about the top 6-7 are pretty equal and don't really scare me all that much. Those particularly p'ed me off, every time he got the ball in the post he was literally pushed into a travel of course, with he gains more bulk and strength that won't happen.
  9. Sulley, I believe we can take comfort in the fact that the Illini have had a far better season than many of us could have expected. 23-8 overall, 11-7 in the Big Ten and 4 or 5 seed? I thought perhaps, NIT this season, then back into the tournament and a top ten team 2010 and beyond. As for PSU? I look upon it as an anomaly, the Nittany Lions better bask in it while they can because beating the Illini in BB is not going to happen in the near future.* *No including the B10 Tournament in which I hope they do meet again.
  10. I'm wondering if any team that signs Manny at this point is going to be screwed. He's surely going to perceive his remaining so long on FA market as a sign of disrespect which is going to feed all his BS.
  11. Yeah, Illinois would be dynamic this year if they had Turner. Guy's a stud. I like to look to the future and think players like Turner will no longer escape Weber. Yes, I know, many of us Illini fans continue to talk about the future but, recruits aside, in McCamey, Tisdale, Davis and even Legion - go ahead and dismiss him now - the Illini are going to be damn good.
  12. Everyone ends up with 41 and 41 Of course, I was commenting on the fact that no other team, to this point in the season, has played that many road games. I haven't checked but, I'm guessing it has something to do with the recent availability of the United Center. However, for me, it's better to accuse the NHL of some sort of conspiring against the Blackhawks.
  13. 34 road games, is any other team even close to that road tab? Why were the Blackhawks so fortunate?
  14. Angelo isn't really this stubborn or blind, is he? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-24-haugh-onbears-chicagofeb24,0,985641.column "Better" coaching is not going to help Alex Brown, Tommie Harris and Wale get to the QB more often in '09.
  15. Garnett traded to Bulls? No way that was going to happen, he was gift wrapped for Boston all along, McHale may say otherwise but, I don't believe it.
  16. 1. Miss nearly every jump shot you take, whether you're covered or wide open. 2. Leave UW's most one dimensional guy alone outside the 3 point line to do the one thing he's good at all night. 3. Rebound like you have concrete in your shoes and the other team is just going to let you have the ball. and finally, 4. Take nothing but 15-20 foot jumpers when you're not hitting them. Don't spread the floor and get it inside, just continue jacking up shots you obviously (at least last night) have no shot at making. And whoever asked about Legion, it's pretty clear he's gone Rich Hill on us and completely forgotten how to put the ball on the inside of the orange metal round thing that's hanging there. I'm reasonably sure it's entirely a confidence issue. The one shot he did make last night was a rhythm jumper where he just came around a pick on the dribble and shot it without having time to think about it. Everything else he had time to look at and missed or it was generally just an awful shot he shouldn't have been taking in the first place. I wonder if we're not going to see what Legion' capable of until next season.
  17. I don't think there's any question that the Steelers are probably my most hated AFC team now. From what I've seen the cheap shot artists aren't limited to Harrison, there's a good many of them on the Steeler defense. Who won was immaterial to me but, it's a shame when someone who plays as Harrison does wins Championships.
  18. I'm going into the 2009 season expecting nothing from Harden, I believe Lou would be wise to assume he's not a candidate for the rotation.
  19. I don't know if it's by design or not but, I'm glad Hendry chose to wait Towers out. Towers is seeking a King's Ransom for a player who, at this point, isn't worth it, 3-5 years ago Towers may have been able to command such a catch for Peavy but, not now. By waiting Towers out Hendry', if he does trade for Peavy, won't have to empty the farm system to do so. I believe he'll trade for Peavy without giving up Vitters.
  20. The talk of Warner and Leftwich doesn't make sense to me, most especially if they're going to be put behind the same OL and have the same set of WR options. Both would end performing about as well as Orton. Why not focus upon upgrading the OL and finding some WR's who can get open and, when they do, catch the ball. Which leads me to question for the football experts - why do rebuilding teams oftentimes focus on the QB position when their offensive and defensive lines are so poor? Take the Lions, I believe many mock drafts have them taking Stafford with the #1 pick, why not go for the top offensive guard or tackle?
  21. Is it safe to say the Sun is beginning to set on the Red Wings dominance of the Central Division and Western Conference? Yes, they have a very good record this season but, I don't believe they're quit as good as it might suggest.
  22. Typical, we all know when comes to in-game adjustments and smart play calling Lovie and his staff are solely lacking.
  23. This Celtic team at 24-2 is one game ahead of the 95-96 Bulls while I don't expect them to keep up their current pace, I was wondering how they would fare against the 95-96 Bulls. Being a Bulls fan I of course, don't think they're is good as the 95-96 Bulls, just don't believe they're as solid defensively as Bulls nor do I believe they would be able to handle MJ.
  24. Looked up Conklin' and Osgood SV% - didn't realize how shaky they are. However at the moment the Red Wings are the better team and I still expect them to win the division. Within a couple of years the Wings will be looking up at the Blackhawks. My mother-in-law who's a Johnny-Come-Lately hockey fan (last decade with the Red Wings success) has brutal reality coming to her in the near future. I've mentioned to her the Blackhawks are amongst the youngest teams in the league and their arrow is pointing up. Not only is this so They have not only youth on their side, it's youth with extraordinary talent - Toews, Kane, etc. She just blows me off because her Red Wings have been so dominant.
