  1. I didn’t realize Pedro was decent for a year or two before coming over, I thought he was bad like Jake. But I guess they identified him. I meant Sean Marshall and Theo traded him, did he not? After they turned him in to a bullpen arm full time and he was successful? But yeah the overall track record isn’t great but he’s always built decent pens once they tried to win starting in 2015. 2015-19 Cubs relievers have the 11 most WAR, 3rd lowest ERA, 8th lowest FIP, 7th lowest xFIP. No Marshall was traded in 2011, the offseason that Theo took over, so he never actually played under Theo. You are right though about the overall success of the pen. It just seems like we have so many guys that come up from the minors and have horrific troubles throwing strikes. To bad about Maples, if only he could harness his stuff, would be a shutdown closer.
  2. Underwood with a scoreless inning? Is that allowed of Cub' pen?
  3. Was it tipping pitches or fact he no control? Looks like he threw 34 pitches, 13 of them K's, only 3 of which came on swings, 1 swing and miss, smartly, the Reds were not swinging.
  4. Can he be average? That's all it take for the Bears to make the playoffs, with average QB play they would have won at 11 games last year. Ok. Lets define average and if he hits higher then that I’ll write I hate Foles on a sub and eat it on video, face obscured for security of course 3000 yrds, 2:1 td/int w/min 20 tds and 90 passer rating? That'll do, guess I should have prefaced my question with I to, agree, that in all likelihood Foles will royally suck.

  6. if this has been previously posted I apologize in advanced - RIP Wes Unseld - I remember him and the Washington Bullets beating the Seattle Supersonics in 77-78, lost to the Sonics the next year. Also, RIP - Jerry Sloan - do not remember much of Jerry Sloan, played on some pretty good Bulls teams in the early to mid seventies.
  7. Ayo declared for the draft, this was expected, however, he did not hire an agent. Kofi declared as well, of the two, Ayo' draft prospects are much greater, Kofi will not get drafted. There's way too many big men who can shoot ahead of him. From the Big Ten alone there's Jalen Smith, Kaleb Wesson, Daniel Oturu and Luka Garza they'll be taken before him. He'd be better served by returning to school. Yesterday was the first day of the Spring Signing Period and of course, Adam Miller did not sign with the Illini, said he'll sign soon. Sure he will, it's the same old song and dance when it comes to the Illini and recruiting Chicago. At times I wonder why they even bother, getting strung along to be spurned at the last minute. I know Ayo was a recent exception.
  8. Gov. Whitmer announced Michigan to stay home until April 13th, other States are following or have followed suit, think we have to prepare ourselves for the very real possibility the MLB season is done. If anything, we might have a super small sized version of the season. Should this be the case, Fall sports are to be impacted in a big way.
  9. Indeed, you knew some team was going to get doped into giving him a [expletive] of money for a handful of good/great performances and the Jags were the team.
  10. What about Carr? He's a definite upgrade, the others seem like lateral moves, Mitch will give you whatever they will.
  11. Graham smacks of desperation, still, it's an upgrade at TE. With Quinn Pace is admitting Floyd was a bust and needs to be dumped, have to think he'll be more impactful than Floyd ever was, wouldn't take much.
  12. I believe it's a certainty they'll cite reasons such as maintaining the current recruit class along with 2021 commits. Dropped the ball on Pitino, Iona gave him a chance, I find it hard to believe he'd passed on a chance to stick it to the Big East and the rest of college BB had DePaul shown any interest. I also believe Pitino would have retained the current class and quite probably would have enhanced it, his name alone would open doors. But, in their usual dick-less manner they'll do the "safe" thing and re-up Leitao.
  13. Hopefully, an official bracket is still released, it'd be cool to see the Illini finally ended their 7 year hiatus.
  14. It’s also the only thing the NCAA makes money on. Maybe they’ll go bankrupt and finally go away Now, there's a golden lining...
  15. What about the money, money, money? Plenty of entities make untold millions off the tournament.
  16. I actually thought UNLV should hire him. Mostly because Pitino reminds me of Tarkanian UNLV also makes sense but, DePaul is a Catholic school which may be factor for reported devout Catholic Rick Pitino.
  17. I'd love to see DePaul give a big fat horsefeathers you to the NCAA and the Big East by hiring Rick Pitino. He'll cheat his balls off and so the horsefeathers what? At least he'll be transparent about it, unlike those dick-less pricks Sean Miller, Bill Self, etc., it will be fun and the Blue Demons will win. Of course DePaul doesn't have the nerve to do such a thing but, it would be fun.
  18. I do believe Ross is not going to him multiple chances to blow this season. Given this, who can step in as the closer?
  19. Me to but, I'll take sharing the conference, I know its been 10 or so excruciating years however, it's turned around. I've a feeling this season is beginning of a long run of Illini basketball dominance. After Sunday, when this gauntlet of a BT regular season ends, the NCAA's will feel like a walk in the park. Finally over, actually, Illini may have gotten a break being the 4 seed vs. a 3 or 2 because the 2,3 side of the BTT is loaded compared to 1,4 - BTT Bracket
  20. Yesterday went about as well as anybody hope for the Illini' BT Championship possibilities, Maryland, Penn State and Iowa went down, gives them a real shot to share the title. Most importantly, with a split this week, they'll get a double bye in the BTT thereby, making it a little easier to win the tourney.
  21. Because I despise Wisconsin, most especially Davison, who's a dirty little punk - [tweet] [/tweet] It's probably hard for the officials to spot but, how the hell is Davison hooking and impeding the Minnesota' players' attempt at the ball not a foul? If I'm a HC of a team playing Wisconsin, I have a pad with videos of these type of plays playing for the officials. Get in their ears about it and they're more likely to see these things. Cowens was called for a technical yesterday vs Rutgers for something very similar.
  22. In my best online Australian accent - Well, horsefeathers me dead, the Illini beat a very good Penn State team on the road, Ayo came back from what initially looked like a season/career ending knee injury and dominated the game, leading them to victory. Dare I say the Illini experienced a stork of good fortune? In Ayo not incurring any structural damage to his knee? Hell, that hasn't happened in 10+ plus years, last decade the only kind of luck the Illini had was bad. Think there's a good chance they'll win Monday (Nebraska at home), getting to 10 conference wins, believe they'll finish with 14-12 conference victories, end up as a 6,7 or 8 seed.
  23. Dave Wannstedt on the Score is hilarious, said Mitch is better at some things than Mahomes but, he doesn't know what things. I to believe Mitch is better at some things than Mahomes unfortunately, for the Bears and us fans, those things aren't football related.
  24. Yeah me to, what the horsefeathers else do we have? Grasping at straws here...
  25. Trubisky and the Bear' have grin and take this constant [expletive] narrative, at the very least, it's providing lots of bulletin board incentive material for Mitch. Chances are we won't see significant improvement but, I believe Mitch is going to give a supreme effort in trying to get better for whatever that's worth. If he needs motivation from what fans are saying then he's got major problems. Perhaps, I have should said adds more fuel to the fire, he's got to be majorly pissed off with this constant narrative, with social media it surrounds him 24/7, who wouldn't be?
