  1. Dream scenario-19 teams pass on Wilson citing his leadership, etc. problems, falls into the Bears lap. Bears take a chance on the potential locker room cancer and Wilson becomes the first franchise QB in modern Bears history, kicking GB ass along the way while ridiculing them. For once the Bears get to make the rest of the NFL look like horsefeathering idiots. If he makes it past 8, trade up to get him. Hell, if he gets past the Jets, I'd trade a pair of 1sts and a 3rd to move up for him over trading 2 firsts for Derek Carr. Do not think he'll make past the Jets but, stranger things have happened.

  3. Could it be Pace has learned something and knows its on the Eagles? That is, wait it out explore other options, just too fantastic to consider - the Bears being smart. I said earlier in this thread, but for whatever bad moves Pace has made, many fans always acted like some huge draft haul was inevitable, when he hasn't really parted with tons of "high level" assets. And when he did it was for an indisputably awesome player, in Mack. Let's hope he can calibrate this market. When you think about it waiting might be the best approach to lower the price tag for Wentz. The Eagles benched him, have let everyone know they're done with him and if not soon rid of his contract are on the hook for a chunk of change. In some aspects they're desperate, even more so if say, the Colts trade for Carr thereby eliminating another trade partner. Pace has nothing to lose by sitting tight.

  5. This plus TB specifically targeted Hill, they made certain they're not going to get beat by him, just removed him from KC's offense.
  6. Me as well, Wentz is actually an improvement, the Bears actually have a better OL and offensive weapons than the Eagles. Last night showed it clearly doesn't matter who is playing QB when your line can't block. So, with an uptick in line play and someone to throw to, Wentz, if dealt to the Bears, will probably bounce back from 2020. But the issue remains whatever Pace does he'll quite probably over pay.
  7. Thought along the same lines, Carr will be had for less, could have been a Bear but, for Pace. As mathematicians say - probability of almost 1 this happens.
  8. Yeah that's my biggest issue with this. Superbowl hasn't even been played yet. A month + til the league year opens. Wait to see if Watson, Carr, Dak, someone decent you don't have to trade draft picks for becomes available. If you can't get one of those guys, then if nobody else trades for Wentz, you have a 3-day window where the Eagles are pretty desperate or else they owe Wentz his 10Mil bonus. If someone else trades for Wentz in the meantime, the worst thing that happens is you have all your draft picks, whatever cap space you've created, and aren't counting on the league's worst QB in 2020. Not the end of the world. Yuuupp. Exactly, the Eagles are on the hook for $10,000,000 there's no need to overpay, wait them out. Of course, Pace being Pace, he'll probably trade the 20th pick along with next year' first, he's going to make the worst possible trade, that horsefeathers.
  9. Sure but, when, if ever, has Pace shown any kind of such logic? What you're saying is something strategic and tactical Pace has not even hinted at knowing how to do these things.
  10. If the price tag isn't too steep OK but, Pace, no, he's going to get taken to the cleaners, bidding against himself.
  11. Just sucks, we all knew he was going to horsefeathers things up, make a terrible trade and it's happening, of course.
  12. Ok, so, they've traded for Watson, how about letting Robinson walk and signing Allen Lazard? Lazard' an Allen Robinson' type with a much smaller price tag, could form a decent WR duo with Mooney. Lazard is an exclusive rights free agent, which means he is like a pre arb baseball player, where his team can offer him league minimum and he has no choice but to accept it. Did not know that, thank you, so, scratch Lazard, cannot see why Packers wouldn't offer league minimum. I'm certain Robinson' gone, I'd be looking for someone young, cheap who could approximate Robinson plus the draft.
  13. They did not, I was just go along with the premise of the message you know, the part about Foles beating out Watson for starting QB. Watson will never be a Bear, I know this, however, doesn't hurt to speculate. bummer, I got all excited As you have probably said and I'm saying we all know nothing good is going to come of this Bears being big players in the QB market. Guessing another iteration of GM and HC will be the most probable outcome.

  15. Looking forward to Watson losing the camp battle to Foles this summer while Pace is on the hot seat. Ok, so, they've traded for Watson, how about letting Robinson walk and signing Allen Lazard? Lazard' an Allen Robinson' type with a much smaller price tag, could form a decent WR duo with Mooney.
  16. Be a better option than Jimmy G, would not require a first rounder perhaps, multiple, like two, at most, middle round picks? The linked story's entire premise is based on getting two 1sts so the Raiders could flip them for Watson. Pace is desperate so trading a 1st for Carr is very within the realm of possibility.
  17. Be a better option than Jimmy G, would not require a first rounder perhaps, multiple, like two, at most, middle round picks?
  18. It's a certainty he'll give the most for the least. I'm thinking something like multiple picks to Niners for Jimmy G the week before he' was going to be released because they acquired Watson or some such terrible transaction.
  19. How do the young D assets of the Jets or Dolphins line up to Smith and Johnson? I don't know, it's kind of tough. Based on the sneak peak we got of the D without Smith and Johnson, I'm not sure the team would be that much better, even with an improved offense. Marginally so perhaps, but they Bears would run low on options to build the D. Are they a division round team instead of a wildcard team, maybe? I don't have the answer to either question but they'd have the most important building block in place. So that alone pushes me into the "dooooooo iiiiiit" camp. You're just never gonna win a ring without one and you're probably not getting one at 20 this year. Although Pace will be 100% willing to trade whatever it takes to get his guy as well being in his last year. Honestly I imagine both teams could put a comparable player pkg together. Tom could probably weigh in on that. That shoulder of Johnson is damn scary to me, as an aside. He flashed star upside no doubt but how often will he actually be available? Personally I don't think we're getting Watson. With Stafford off the board and Watson not a realistic option what does that mean for Bears? Pace is going to do something, I've a feeling it's destined to be something horsefeathering awful.
  20. In theory, but you get Watson and you have the best QB in the NFC under 32. And we are literally seeing right now what happens when you replace negative value QB play with top 5 QB play. Tampa was 7-9 with Winston and now is in the Superbowl. Granted, they didn't have to trade their early draft picks to get Brady. Where the Bears pick, drafting their own QB probably isn't possible without a move up. If they don't go into the draft with a legit franchise QB, it probably means they are going to trade this and next year's 1st round pick to move up for a QB. You're talking 1 more 1st rounder and some other pieces for a proven top 5 guy. The Cutler trade didn't set the Bears a step behind. Not properly surrounding him with talent on offense w/ the resources they did have did. And frankly, Cutler probably wasn't quite good enough. Definitely not a top 5 QB like Watson is. And Tampa is gonna get bum-rushed by KC, a team that drafted its own QB. It sure feels like five years after a Watson trade, we'll be saying "it's not his fault, he just doesn't have the cast around him." Just like we did with Cutler and Mack. I mean, I'll be excited if they do it. But I really just want to draft a successful QB of our own just once. Watson and Stafford are not realistic options for the Bears, I just don't believe they've the resources to make a trade for either. So that leaves everyone else or draft a QB, while I do not have much confidence Pace and Nagy will get it right, drafting a QB may be the correct route. I thought it bad but, a trade for Tua is almost like drafting a QB. Once in my lifetime I'd like to see the Bears with the QB who manhandles the rest of the NFC North most especially, one who abuses the Packers. It could happen, the Cubs won the WS, this could happen as well.
  21. When you think about it, it's exactly what Pace would do, checks the horsefeathers up the present and future boxes. That wouldn't do a damn thing to F up the future. Either way it still the exact kind of dumb ass trade Pace would make.
  22. When you think about it, it's exactly what Pace would do, checks the horsefeathers up the present and future boxes.
  23. That's a steep price with such a cost you've got to be certain you're getting back a franchise QB not merely a good QB. It's all academic anyway, a Jimmy G, Marcus Mariottta, Tyrod Talyor type is who the Bears will end up with.
  24. Seconded on the OT, all starts with the OL.
  25. Weren't there whispers of the defense abusing Mitch in practice? That is doing things like showing one look but, go another on the snap, etc. confusing the hell out of him? sure, but there were also the highlights of him hitting guys in stride down the sidelines against Fuller. Not to mention, anytime the practice D got the better of a rookie/2nd year quarterback it just fell back to "wow, the Bears have an AWESOME D!" and they did in 2018 Just for the hell of it I looked at some pre-draft scouting reports of Mitch and it's all there - strong arm but, struggles with downfield accuracy, questionable footwork, trouble recognizing disguised overages, good scrambler - once again just what the hell was so special that Pace HAD to draft him?
