  1. Kronwall has been very effective this year with his hits on unsuspecting right wingers. I can see Q thinking John Scott may prevent that from happening. I can see Q thinking that, but he would be wrong. Without out a doubt he would be wrong. Kronwall isn't going to fight anyone. Scott cannot catch him to hit him. Scott would just end up fighting Bertuzzi or Adelkader. Both Bertuzzi and Adelkader will just tie him up after a couple of punches I'd gladly trade no 5 minutes of Adelkader for 5 minutes of John Scott.
  2. I'd say hockey was similar to baseball in that regard- one player can dominate the game making it possible for a bad team to beat a good team.
  3. Crawford stayed in the crease a lot more the last 2 games and looked much better. Granted the BJs suck but he made some good saves when he needed to. A couple more games like this and maybe the mouth breathers will stop trying to trade Kane for spare parts.
  4. Is that some sort of Keith Seabrook monikor? Yes, It's a SCH thing, they call them Marlboro 72. For the time being, I like the Leddy/ Seabrook pairing with Keith carrying Olsen until Hammer is back and then Hammer. I wouldn't even mind Keith paired with father time (O'Donnell)
  5. haven't heard anything but bring it please This is sarcasm, isn't it?
  6. But he already has some service time from last season. Was he a sept. call up or was it earlier? I don't see him up before June anyway but I thought that sept. callups worked differently/ didn't count for service time
  7. Yeah, Jed's already said that was the plan. That plan could easily change though. Outside of his agent and his immediate family, no one wants Lahair as the opening day starter if they have a better in house option. I'd rather watch Rizzo repeat (or improve upon) his success at the AAA level than burn a year of his ML service time with a team that is going nowhere in 2012. We're going to have to keep him down until late Juneish in order to get an extra year out of him. If we're leading the division on say May 25th and LaHair is being LaHair, I imagine they'll stay the course, but it could be tempting. It only takes 11 days to get the extra year IIRC. But late June would probably be the likely timeframe.
  8. Connelly is an undersized, 25 year old AHL guy. No great loss. But how much does it hurt a player's confidence to be scratched in favor of John scott? Bickell looked as good as he has in a while.
  9. Yeah, Jed's already said that was the plan. Yeah, you have to give Lahair a chance to see if he can hit at the ML level. If he can he becomes a decent pinch hitter/backup 1B-OF. It may be the smart thing to do, if Rizzo does need the time in AAA, but you don't have to give Lahair anything. He's already showed enough to be a bench bat. I'm not saying it's going to happen but if Lahair stinks in ST and Rizzo is tearing up the cactus league, they'd have to at least consider giving the job to Rizzo. Wouldn't they?
  10. At least Leddy looked preety good in those minutes- from what I saw. I missed the first goal. I didn't think that lepisto looked bad when he was out there and made at least one really good play to stop a potential breakaway. The end result was obviously bad but I thought the effort and intensity were there. The Hawks pretty much controlled 90% of the play. It's hard to tell how much of that was by design given the system the Preds use. To me, this game underscored the goaltending issue.

  12. They've been saying (Hoyer) that they felt like Rizzo got rushed last year. He'll have every opportunity to win the job out of ST but more likely LaHair is the placeholder until he's ready, hopefully by late June. I think the opening day lineup looks more like this: Dejesus Barney (should be 8th, would much rather see Stewart here) Castro LaHair Soto then some combo of Soriano, Stewart and Byrd
  13. Barring any trades, I'd say so. -They haven't said so but I think they'll try to get Soto some time at 1st which in turn gets enough PAs for Castillo -Campana over Sappelt since the better prospect should get to play in Iowa rather than rot on the MLB bench. -Really pulling for Samardzjia to make the rotation. The Cubs have plenty of RH 6th/ 7th inning options. Sorry, please continue patting yourselves on the back over Wells being terrible or whatever.
  14. I don't disagree with any of that. Everybody likes big players that are really good. No one has any that they would trade for Kane though.
  15. HE DOESN'T HIT PEOPLE!
  16. Kane was just about a point per game player last season. There are maybe 10 guys that were able to do that. If they traded Kane it would have to be for prospects since no one is giving up an established star for Kane. The 2-3 years represents the timeframe for those prospects to make an impact.
  17. I like Leddy but I'd move him in the right deal. I think they could still trade Sharp even though he's older because this is Hockey and players like Sharp can still be good for the rest of that contract. I'd be curious to see hwat they could get for Bolland but I doubt they'd br able to get enough value for him to make it worthwhile since the Hawks don't have a lot of depth at C.
  18. By nice, do you mean never going to happen or the biggest potential for disaster? Kane has a no movement clause and likes Chicago. Even if he was agreeable to a trade, who has the players they'd need to get back to make it worthwhile? Trading Kane = giving up on this season at least and probably the next 2. Bad as this streak has been they're not there yet.
  19. Yeah you are. I think I speak for all of us that this off season has been crap. Anyone disagree? So, bad at reading, then. Fair enough. Enlighten us. young, cheap and bad with the chance of getting better > old, expensive and going nowhere without catching lightning in a bottle. People here have been calling for this approach since 2002
  20. man i love khabibulin, but yeah, give me nabokov instead. Why does anybody like Khabi? Funny name? Cool nickname? Or is it just that he's not Crawford?
  21. Never has before, don't see why he'd start now.
  22. i'm sure they did. i'm saying that miami is the only location where he visited and checked out the stadium. Perhaps he's trying to decide between less money and a better social situation in Miami or the better financial deal he can get from another team ie the Cubs.
  23. Eli Manning just won with the worst team to ever win a super bowl. He should retire now since his stock will never be higher.
  24. Something I never thought I'd ever see: Americans in general taking joy after a NY team beat a Boston team. Not sure if anyone mentioned this earlier but, with this loss, the Pats have tied the record for most superbowls lost with 3 They have 4, as do the Bills and Vikings 3 is the new 4, haven't you heard? I forgot all about the loss to the Packers.
