I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned any of this (this thread is too long for me to sift through right now), but I don't see any way that this Tejada deal will be good for the Cubs if we have to give up Mark Prior. First of all, if Hendry wanted a quality shortstop, he should've overpaid for Furcal in the first place. If we have to give up Prior, it's costing us WAY more than just giving Furcal an extra mil or two. So Hendry's inability to sign a shortstop could possibly ruin our rotation, and turn one of the most promising pitchers I've ever seen over to the best pitching coach I've ever seen. Second, Tejada is not Barry Bonds. Tejada is not Albert Pujols. The fact is, he's an above average shortstop that has been linked to steroids, has been linked to lying about his real age, and can't pitch like Prior can. Third, Bedard is two or three years OLDER than Prior is. He's 28 and from what I've seen is still in his development stage that he might never get out of. Four, Hendry has said all along that this team is built on pitching... and now he wants to give away a guy that has become one of the faces of the organization? Give me a break. Just my two cents. Now I need to head out of here.
