  1. Classic. I was cracking up watching that.
  2. Nah, cause then the drunken idiots would just relocate. They'd buy tickets in the sections where beer was sold, and they'd throw their cups from there.
  3. Sorry if it's already been posted. I don't know why, but I really like the way this guy says it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3298669/
  4. Anyone have Dempster's video from when he did the lineups in his Harry Carey voice? I thought that was better. I still applaude Rich Hill for the effort, even though I found that movie to be God awful.
  5. Bonds would deserve it... the guy is not only a cheater, but someone who broke the law by abusing illegal substances. He would have still been one of the greatest players in the modern era and a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but he had to cheat since he wanted attention. And if you don't think steroid abuse is a big deal, look at Chris Benoit. If Bonds deserves it, then boo the man. Don't make the entire city of Chicago look like jack@$$es because you dislike what one man has done. You can show your displeasure without disrupting the game and embarrassing a city. And just because you may not like that the record is being broken, doesn't mean there aren't people out there that consider this to be a historic occasion. Why ruin it for other people? And I think lumping Bonds in with Benoit is going a bit too far. Last I checked, Barry Bonds hasn't killed anyone
  6. I think that it is only going to get worse. Exactly, the more the team wins, the more the 2003 bangwagoners will start to reappear because they want to be there for the "party." And I think a fine would be great, or possibly some sort of minor arrest, although I think that's much less likely. The only problem is, drunk people tend to forget, or disregard the rules. Just look at the few idiots that have run onto the field this year. Would they have done that stone sober?
  7. Unfortunately, from my experience the Cubs have more than a lot of teams. That's because the Cubs have more fans than other teams. Bigger fan base also means more idiots. I do like the idea of fining these people when they litter on the field. That may make them think twice about throwing things on the field. I just don't understand why it's done. I would never throw something on the field, no matter how angry I were. The ones that get caught are quickly expelled from the stadium. But the problem is, there's no way to catch everyone that throws something when there's 100 cups on the field.
  8. Unfortunately, from my experience the Cubs have more than a lot of teams. I wouldn't call most of those people fans. They are just the people that were able to get tickets to the game. There's a big difference.
  9. I know there is always an extra security guard or two on hand in left when Bonds is out there.
  10. Umm, that would make her no different than anyone else in a magazine. You don't actually think Victoria's Secret models look that perfect, do you? And yes, she looks better with makeup. What a concept. That's kinda the purpose of it. I know all magazines are airbrushed to hell. I was just trying to say that she probably looks a lot different than most people think. That's all. And I know the reasoning for make up as well, but I didn't even bring that up because she has a very attractive face. I'm sure it's still attractive without make up. I really doubt she looks like Denny Neagle's girl when she takes off the make up... or at least I really hope not. :)
  11. My original thought was either they were heckling the outfielder and he finally said something back that the fans didn't like, or some drunken idiot tried to pour beer on one of the fielders again. Then it erupted into morons throwing cups onto the field because the grounds crew ran out to clean up. It is embarrassing. That's why I'd actually feel bad if Barry Bonds broke the record at Wrigley. Like him or not, I think the field would be peppered with cups and debris, and it would tarnish a very significant moment in baseball history.
  12. I don't think many of you realize how big softball pitchers are. She probably looks like a man in every photo that's not extremely airbrushed. All of her magazine pictures, etc are extremely touched up. And a baggy jersey reveals nothing in terms of her size other than she doesn't have a gut. I'd vote not, because I used to be friends with a lot of softball players that I thought were hot... until I saw them wearing something more revealing than a uniform.
  13. I don't think there will ever be a day when I'm excited about trading for a guy that's hitting .226. I hope he can turn it around, and he's better offensively than Bowen. But I think Bowen's defense was better, and I think Blevins was not the right guy to throw into the deal.
  14. Pass. Model citizen or not, I refuse to believe he's a different person than the one that walked out on his team a few years ago. I know how much he's done for this team, and this city, but his time here is over. Feel free to destroy this post if you want, but that's my feeling, and I'm sure there are others that feel the same way.
  15. See, now this is exactly why people don't respect the WNBA.
  16. I have to go with DLee, just based on career numbers alone. He is going to end up with more than 6 homers. One good week and he could hit more than all of those guys put together.
  17. Remember, Vance was getting everyone Cub's tickets when no one could get through the dreaded Cubs.com virtual waiting room. He got my vote.
  18. burnt sienna
  19. Or if its the bottom of the 9th, the game, bragging rights, and homefield advantage in the world series are on the line, and you have arguably the best hitter in baseball as the last guy on your bench.

  21. I dont get the whole "Wrigley is a dump" thing anyway. If by "a dump" you mean it's not made out of entirely metal and plastic and doesn't feel like a hospital, then sure. But I dont know what people mean when they say it smells, i've been there plenty of times and never smelled anything foul (except maybe some people sitting next to me). My only complaint about wrigley is the giant piss-trough in the bathroom. Where is this piss trough? I've been to Wrigley many times but never have seen the trough. Please don't cite that stupid internet video --- I think that was at a NASCAR race :) I can't think of a bathroom at Wrigley that DOESN'T have troughs. Well, except maybe the women's bathrooms, cause that'd just be awkward.
  22. Talk about walking a fine line between success and disaster. His inflated numbers mostly came from his non-save situations. He has been lit up really bad in a lot of those.
  23. Definitely one of the most (if not for sure the most) talented Cubs teams I've seen. That team should have ripped through the league after the trade deadline And the most depressing thing looking back at the end of '04 is the starting pitching. Zambrano and Prior were unhitable. Rusch was even pitching out of his mind... but that bullpen :( I remember listening to a game against the Reds from September '04. Prior was flirting with 20K for the first half, kind of lost steam with the K's near the end but ended up with 16 or 18. Gave up a solo home run somewhere in the later innings and left after 9IP with a ND, and of course the Cubs lost it in extras. EDIT - Just looked it up, it was his last start of the year, sept. 30th, so I think the season was all but officially dead at that point. 9.0IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 1HR, 1BB, 16K Sosa had a solo HR Kearns had the HR against Prior Javier #$%^&^ Valentin doubled in the winning run.... Adam Dunn (who set the major league strikeout record for season that day) And a Rusch start where the only offensive support he got was a solo home run... that he hit. I remember that Prior game. That was the last time in a while that Prior actually pitched like Mark Prior. Ahh, the good ol days... Damn you and your cursed arm Mark Prior!
