  1. Clay Matthews = beast. That is all.
  2. Wisconsin isn't even ranked?
  3. Maybe it makes me a bad person, but I get massive amounts of joy from watching one bad thing after another happen to the Vikings.
  4. The Vikings are falling apart at the seams. I love it. Brad Childress and Percy Harvin had to be separated at Friday's practice, getting about as close as possible to coming to blows without actually doing so. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5776770 Zygi Wilf is still considering firing Childress. I hope he doesn't, because I want to see this freak show continue. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5776714
  5. It seems like quite often the "Oldest Person Alive" dies. Must be some sort of curse or something. lol
  6. Beards are popular these days in San Fran. Maybe he could auction that off.
  7. Wow, that was fast. He must have been in pretty bad shape. RIP, Sparky.
  8. Because he prefers to seek a major league job over returning to the minors? It's not like he turned down a job on Quade's staff. What a jackass for seeking a managerial opportunity! I'm still waiting for somebody to spill the identify of all these teams that covet Ryno's services so. It's not like he can't field job offers while staying on with the organization. He quit because we hurt his feelings and he's acting like a spoiled child. So then he's not allowed to pursue his dreams elsewhere? If you think there's no market right now for Ryno as an MLB manager, that's fine. You're probably even right. But if there isn't and nobody hires him, I don't think he's a jerk for necessarily overvaluing himself. I didn't want him as manager either, but I don't think he's a jerk for trying to pursue a goal. And if he stays on with the organization, what kind of a message does that send? "I'm only here until someone else hires me?" Then the Cubs have a bench coach (granted not the most important of personnel decisions, but still) who doesn't want to be here, and then they have to look for another one. And wouldn't other teams have to get permission from the Cubs to talk to him? This probably just saves everyone some hassle. I think it's good that he gets it out of the way now so the Cubs have the entire offseason to move forward with coaching staff and other personnel and on-field decisions.

  10. So what are you suggesting? That he and the trainers were faking the injury for some reason but immediately thought to cover the chin and make up a story that his chin was bleeding and required stitches? Then put makeup on him later to look like stitches? I can't speak for jersey, but I'm suggesting that Favre is a bloodless undead creature. Whoever said it earlier in the thread is correct. I'm convinced he's a cockroach. That would be me! :hello:
  11. Hrmm... let's raise the price to the annual convention of a mediocre baseball team during the worst recession in decades. Brilliant!
  12. Where's the "don't worry about the stadium itself, just get some competent baseball players" option?
  13. It happens. If it would have been Sandberg or Sosa or someone who did the same thing that Favre did only to end up in St. Louis just to stick it to us, Cubs fans would have felt the same way. What did Favre do? GB wanted him to retire, right? False. When Favre initially started having second thoughts about coming back, McCarthy and Thompson immediately got on a plane to fly to Mississippi to meet with him. IIRC, this was a week before the draft in 2008. Favre told both of them that he was officially done when they were out there and that was that. We drafted Flynn and Brohm (lol) and the rest was history. We only wanted him to retire after it was evident that he wanted to come back in July of that year because we moved on and there was no chance of him coming back to us. I remember at the time, most Packers fans (including myself) were absolutely irate that they were choosing to go the other way and not back to Favre. The first year when he was with the Jets, I think he still had a somewhat high approval rating in Green Bay. It wasn't until the following offseason where the hate came in when it was evident that he wanted to go to Minnesota all along just to stick it to the entire organization. When he finally retires for good, I think most Packers fans will embrace him again and elect to forget about the final three years of his career, as long as he doesn't win anything with Minnesota this season. Pretty much this. I didn't hold anything against him when he was in New York. In fact, I even rooted for him. It was only until he went to Minnesota to stick it to us that he got on my bad side.
  14. Fine. Probably 50/50
  15. Of course! Because they're "America's Team!"

What did Favre do? GB wanted him to retire, right? I don't know the full story on if he wanted to retire or if they forced him out, but the fact of the matter is that he went before the world and announced that he was quitting. I heard the Packers brass wanted a decision one way or the other and didn't want any of this wishy-washy "will I or won't I retire" crap that he did the previous several offseasons before he actually did so they could go through with offseason and draft plans. I figured that if he retired, he voluntarily gave up his spot, and therefore had no right to ask for it back or be pissed that he didn't get it back once they made it clear they were going with Aaron Rodgers after he retired. If I quit my job and then wanted it back three weeks later, I'd be told "tough crap, you shouldn't have quit" and I hold Favre to the same standard. This entire process, from the time he "came back" was simply so he could land in Minnesota so he could stick it to us. He didn't want to do anything more than show up the Packers. It was 100% out of spite and nothing else.

  18. lol...they're dicks, and you're the one wishing physical harm. Not saying you're wrong, just thought it was amusingly phrased. I can see your point there. i did phrase it incorrectly. But I detest guys who have it all and are incredibly ungrateful, or who feel the need to draw constant attention to themselves.
  19. Moss is such a dick. He, Deion Sanders, and Brett Favre are the only NFL players I've ever wished career-ending injuries on. And I'd laugh like hell.
  20. I'm loving that Brett Favre's career is crashing down around him in spectacular fashion.
  21. The dude has a serious CM Punk thing going on.
  22. It always makes me insanely jealous to see yet another team celebrate a World Series championship.
  23. What happened to "this just isn't our year"? This has certainly been one of the stranger years I can remember. I would have never thought in a million years that we'd pitch a shutout with quite a few defensive contributors on the mend. Our depth is being tested at quite a few positions on the field, and the replacements are actually looking pretty adequate. These last two weeks have been gigantic for us. It'll be big to get Harris and Bigby back as well. It would, mainly for depth purposes. I think we'll see Harris at nickel but Shields has actually been very solid whenever he's been out there. I think Peprah has the other safety job locked up. He's probably been the biggest surprise of the season so far. I guess if I could pick a silver lining out of all of the injuries, it's that we've seen just how deep the Packers are, especially on defense. I still don't see them going deep into the playoffs with Brandon Jackson unless he lights the world on fire the rest of the way, though. The Grant loss is the biggest of all, IMO.

  25. That might quickly change. If there is a labor stoppage after the NFL CBA is up and there are canceled games, fans might leave as quickly as they did baseball in 1994. Ok, maybe not that quickly if the Super Bowl isn't canceled, but still.
