That would never happen. If there was a 16-team playoff, you'd at least see auto bids to the big six conferences if not all 11. I know it's not going to, but I can dream. The only fair way to do it would be all 11 conference champions and 5 wild card teams. What? No that's far from the only fair way to do it. Examples? In my way every conference champion would get a chance (Yes, you'd have 1-16 matchups like Ohio State vs. Troy, but oh well), and you'd have a nice, even bracket. Even a few of the deserving non-conference champion teams would get in. If you limit it to just the BCS conferences and do an 8-team tourney it would still most likely leave out the TCU's and Boise States of the world. Every conference champion should have a shot to win the National Championship, and my proposal allows that. The computers should then only be used for seeding purposes in the playoffs. Each top seed would get at least 1 home game, then for the final 7 games (8 teams left) you could use the 4 BCS Bowl stadiums, and 3 other stadiums on a rotating basis for the final 8 teams. That way contracts with the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, etc can still be fulfilled. That's just a proposal I whipped up in 5 minutes. I know it needs a little tweaking, but I think that could be a good starting point.
