  1. YAY I will never forget that 8000000000 mile blast he hit a few years back (98..99?) that was amazing. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ryLoUH8pVFg You're welcome.
  2. Man, Glenallen was my second favorite behind Sammy. He always gave us that option late in the game of coming off the bench and homering. And I loved his game face and the way he threw the bat down when he homered. Classic.
  3. Overpay if you have to, Jim. Just GET IT DONE!!!
  4. Do I want him to stay? Hell yes. Do I think he'll stay? I'm not optimistic. I know if I were him I'd get as far away as I could.
  5. These were all rule 5 picks, I take it? Man, I had high hopes for Sing.
  6. You're really suprised to see so much love for a man who was the ONLY reason to watch this team for several years?
  7. Maybe if he'd spend more time practicing instead of thinking up stupid new nicknames for himself.....
  8. If he takes an incentive-laden deal, sign him for 2nd base. I'd love to have Nomar back.
  9. Yeah I can see it now, and I miss game 163 because newly divorced Reese Witherspoon is busily feeding me grapes one at a time and fanning me. 8) if we're doing this, we might as well do this. reese witherspoon is not even close to acceptable for that role. and "fanning" is definitely the wrong gerund. oh Reese is acceptable for any role as far as I'm concerned! When I was in high school, Reese went to a nearby Catholic school. Her friends were much hotter than she was, and she was a little snobby. Well, she's back on the market now!
  10. Yeah, after that he started standing WAY back from the plate and pitchers kept getting him out on the outside corner.
  11. Sammy vs LHP in 2005: .370 OBP .471 SLG Jacque vs LHP in 2006: .261 OBP .416 SLG I'd do that in a heartbeat. Yes, but remember: He was already on the decline in 2005, and he's a year older and also hasn't faced live pitching in over a year. He's done. Kaput. Finished.
  12. Sammy, you just can't get it done anymore. Please, stay retired and keep what dignity you have left.
  13. I want to say sometime Monday... For some reason I so want the Cubs to get this guy. He seems like a can't miss, but I don't really care. I just want them to win something, a bidding war, checkers, anything. I am fired up. Yeah, and with the field having dwindled down like it has, we're actually in a position where we could take this one. From what I can tell, it's essentially down to the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Rangers, and us. And 25 mil looks like it might get it done. I don't know. When was the last time the Cubs signed THE top-tier FA on the market? Or at least the top foriegn one?
  14. Anything to increase the worldwide fanbase is always a good thing.
  15. Why, that's Sammy money!! Edited because I can't bleepin read.
  16. I believe we are in serious trouble right now. I'd even be willing to overpay to keep Aram here. He's that important to our offense.
  17. Iwamura has expressed a desire to play pretty much any position on the diamond. He would be worth a look-see, imo. I agree, but Fukudome would be great too. Is it me or is Fukudome the most comical name ever? Look at how it's spelled, then seperate the letters.
  18. At least Hendry has at least one of his priorities straight.
  19. Remember this deadline took the Astros out of the Beltran dealings. It also likely affected Alou's possible return to the Cubs. So that whole "If they're not signed by then, they can't be negotiated with until May 1st" thing is gone?
  20. Speaking of Tigers, where has Marroth been?
  21. You can do that in the NFL and NBA (not sure about NHL). I think it would help some of the smaller market teams when they have to trade away their big star in a contract year.
  22. Hendry has to learn that consulting with the manager sometimes is ok, sometimes even desireable. But when it comes right down to it, HE makes the final decision, not the manager. One has to wonder, though... will it be the same witih Piniella?
  23. 1) If he was slumping that badly, he shouldn't have been in there. That's on Dusty. 2) What about the wretched June, July, August, and September? He had a pretty good last 4 months to lead the NL in hits.
  24. "If the Cardinals win, we riot" Wrestling reference, AND a reference to the city of Detroit. I rule!
