  1. I predict Clay Matthews breaking Breesus in half tonight.
  2. Rotoworld is reporting the Cardinals offered Pujols a 9/195 deal.
  3. That was Najeh Davenport.
  4. I doubt many people care about gems like Pirates/Nats or Royals/A's either.
  5. Why not? It happens in the other major sports leagues. Why not baseball? Just as long as the schedules balance out. Someone here had a great idea a while back (I think it was Rocket, but I could be wrong) 18 games against each team in your division (18x4 = 72 games) 6 games against every other non-divisional team in your league (6x10 = 60 games) 6 games against each team in one division in the opposite league (6x5 = 30 games) 72+60+30= 162. Works for me!
  6. I'm so pumped that football is back tonight. I can't wait for kickoff!
  7. Not really that interesting at all. It's rare to go back to back and there's a few other teams that are worthy selections alongside them. Then explain to me why I've heard the word "dynasty" all week. Been talking to Erik a lot? Don't hate the player. Hate the game. In all honesty, though, it's going to be tough as hell to repeat and it wouldn't shock me at all if the Packers didn't repeat this year, only because it's so difficult to do.
  8. How could he have more CG's than decisions?
  9. Glad he recovered, but I just don't see why you bring him back to pitch in a month of meaningless games.
  10. Really looking forward to seeing more out of Vic So'oto on the Packers. I was super impressed with him in the final preseason game, and it sounds like he's pretty much a lock to make the team out of camp.
  11. I wish someone would pay me $1.7 million to sit at home for a month and not work. I need to get a gig like that.
  12. Next year they would if they lose Fielder, which they probably will.
  13. hahahhahahahahhaa it's so hard to believe this was true but it more or less was Yeah, it looks like a bad joke, but it was all too true. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2003-05-11/sports/0305110276_1_fishing-boat-fishing-show-cubs That article still makes me angry. If that weren't true, it would be a Giles Bros or erik joke. Huh?
  14. Carlos Pena is not good. If you re-sign him, how exactly do you expect to be in the Pujols/Fielder sweepstakes? Are we sure Jim Hendry was fired? No reason not to trade him here.
  15. It's such a crapshoot with Japanese players. Sure, you could get someone like Ichiro who would do just fine, even thrive at the MLB level. But then you could get stuck with a monster contract for a Dice-K as well.
  16. Arizona traded 2B Kelly Johnson to Toronto for Aaron Hill.
  17. really? Not that he would be able to take anything for it anyways. I'm pretty sure adderall and ritalin are banned aren't they? Wasn't it Scott Eyre that got busted for Ritalin? I'm on Strattera for ADD and I don't know if that's on the banned list. It helps keep me focused and HEY A DOG!!!! (runs off)
  18. Wow, a guy with questionable NFL talent and big time character issues is going to the Raiders? Color me shocked!
  19. I'm sure he'll have his reasons if he declines. He knows what's best for him-- not us. I'm not going to hold it against him if he thinks his situation is better/more satisfying in Oakland than our position is.
  20. If he'd come on a cheap, incentive laden one year deal to try to rebuild his value, then he's really not a bad idea. He's still been an above average hitter in two of the past three seasons, and at his age there's probably upside. I actually have him behind Beltran as the OF I'd sign, but both would require highly stipulated situations. Both should only be a secondary FA signing/offseason move behind bringing in a big bat or big pitcher. Both should be short on years. Beltran should be paid properly if he's brought in (12-15? That's not my job), and Sizemore should be bought at a number that sounds just enough to be a strong steal if he threw up a seemingly random 3 or even 4 WAR season. 8 million keeps popping into my head, so I'll go with 8 million as the high end number base number. If the base number is 8 mill I'd rather spend a few mill more per year and get Beltran. I would, however, do 6 mill in base and another 2 or 3 mill in incentives for Grady. The incentives would be rooted in AB's and OPS (though I'm not sure anyone uses OPS as a measure for contract incentives). Correct me if I'm wrong, but performance-based stats like OPS can't be included in contract incentives.
  21. Arizona is going to sign Larry Fitzgerald to an 8 year, $120 million contract extension with close to $50 million guaranteed. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6880867/arizona-cardinals-re-sign-larry-fitzgerald-eight-years-120-million-sources-say
  22. What do you feel is the best way to keep a farm system strong year after year? Do you feel quality drafting or international scouting is more important to the long-term success of the team on the field?
  23. If you could do low base with incentives based on games played or plate appearances I'd bite, but I doubt he'd take it and someone will probably overpay. I'd rather it not be us.
  24. Because there's actually something worthwhile to talk about.
  25. Once Dusty gets canned after this year (based on Reds fans I know, that would be their greatest joy ever), I would be so happy if someone could get Dusty, Hendry and Lou on some kind of round table for the playoffs. Jesus, what kind of sadist are you?
