  1. I guess if they were going to go with a Wild Card round you may as well make it best of 3 so it's not quite as random. It still will be, just not as much.
  2. Despite the ridiculous season he's probably the #3 Dodgers story to the ownership situation and Clayton Kershaw. Then he might not even be the best/most exciting young OFer in the division. Justin Upton is 3 years younger, had more hype coming into the big leagues, and is putting up close to a 7 WAR season as a 23(!) year old. I can't say I'm a Kemp fan (mostly because I think he's a choppy CF who's more of a COF going to get franchise CF money to play CF), but it's definitely not fair. If he was on the Yankees or Red Sox doing this... Edit: Speaking of Upton...in doing "research" for this post I found out his BABIP of .320 is actually below his career norm (.332 or .333 I forget). The upside in this guy.... That's probably part of it... not playing in New York or Boston. Yeah, those small market LA teams always get screwed by the media I didn't say "media." I said "ESPN." And I'm talking about the Dodgers, not any other team in any other sport. It's well known that ESPN has a bias toward the Yankees and Red Sox. Reading comprehension is your friend. Try it sometime.
  3. What? Is it not? Is there a position in the batting order in which one does NOT want to get on base, unless you're intentionally sacrificing to move runners?
  4. Go cry in your millions, Soriano, or quit and get a real job like everyone else. Your job, no matter where you are in the order, is to get on base. Do that more often and you'll hit higher in the order. I promise.
  5. I would assume so, seeing as if someone posts anything more than "The Green Bay Packers are a professional football team" on this board everyone gets all butthurt and it starts a flamewar.
  6. There is a difference between debating a significant argument and nitpicking small nonchalant comments. Truth is I can't say one [expletive] word around here without someone putting their two cents in. Um, weren't you the one tossing out outrageous hypothetical questions to me a few pages back, trying to draw me into a fight? Seems like you've gotten your two cents worth in on several occasions as well. It was an honest question. I guess the answer depends on if all the players are 8 feet tall and if the game is played on Mars as long as we're factoring in never-gonna-happen scenarios. Is mini-Lovie coaching the Bears, or is he 8 feet tall too?

  9. For one, I'm surprised this story has been so quiet. ESPN would normally be all over something like this.
  10. I didn't realize it, but he's got a great shot to win the NL Triple Crown this year... AVG ..326 (behind Reyes and Braun at .329) HR: 37 (tied with Pujols for the NL lead) RBI: 119 (leading the NL-- 6 ahead of Fielder) I never knew how close he was. I hope he gets it. That would be a fantastic story.
  11. Im sick of everyone thinking the Packers are God's gift to football. Can they help it if they are? Kidding, in case anyone doesn't get that.
  12. It was inevitable. I'll have to see how it works out, I guess... this is pretty much just to guarantee 3 AL East teams in the playoffs each year.
  13. The Neifi homer was against the Giants on the final day of the season. The day Neifi really did save the Cubs. It was like 30 seconds after the Cubs game ended that day, correct?
  14. Alou would have caught the ball if he peed on his hands that day.
  15. What did you want him to say sooner? That he no longer wanted to be here so we could have traded him. Are you from a future where Ramirez says this? It's heavily implied. He said something like "They'll really have to work on getting a lot better" in order for him to re-sign, right? And the article linked in the first post has him saying "The Chances of coming back here don't look good" meaning... he no longer wants to play here.
  16. What did you want him to say sooner? That he no longer wanted to be here so we could have traded him.
  17. And then we traded him to Pittsburgh and got a pretty good starter in Jon Lieber out of it.
  18. Why is this on the list? It just stuck out in my mind at the time and still does.
  19. Although I can't blame him for wanting to leave this suck-ass team, like someone else said, I wish he'd have said something sooner. This just puts more pressure on us signing Fielder or Pujols.
  20. 1998 was still the most fun I've ever had being a Cubs fan. I don't know, I liked 2008 an awful lot. I also liked the 2003 dogfight to the end. Oh, don't get me wrong, 2008 was great, but 1998 had Sammy coming out of nowhere in an epic HR race with McGwire, Kerry Wood emerging on the National scene after his 20k game, the one-game playoff, the ball under the padding during the White Sox game, the 8-2 start, Beck with his 50-some saves, and so many other great moments just made it a hell of a lot of fun from beginning to end.

  22. The Packers need to blitz the crap out of Cutler until the Bears prove they can stop it.
  23. We all remember it: September 23, 1998 in Milwaukee. What should have been the final out, a fly ball to left, was dropped by Brant Brown as the winning runs came across to score after the error. It led to one of Ron Santo's most memorable moments in the booth. I had knee surgery the day before, so I was off of school and listening on the radio doped up on vicodin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJfslft_oDk&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL2288FAF860743F65 Damn, do I miss Ronnie. :(
  24. I can't watch. It still hurts.
