  1. Seriously, you guys are going to try to turn this back around on me? You have nothing better to discuss?
  2. I'll never forget that game. From start to finish it was one of the craziest games I've ever seen. One of my top 5 favorite regular season games of all time, easily. Here's the audio from Pat and Ron:
  3. That would be another contract off the books that we could put back into the team. Carlos, if you really want to retire, I'll drive you to the airport. Go act like a petulant child somewhere else.
  4. Hey Carlos, it's not Chipper Jone's fault you sucked tonight, k?
  5. I thought he was better this year with his anger management. Really bush league if he really was throwing at Chipper. We all laughed when he did it to Edmonds, but that act gets old real fast. Well yeah, but Jim Edmonds takes it in the.... nevermind. Mascara! Half shirt!
  6. Z gets tossed after giving up 5 HR and throwing inside twice to Chipper. Stay classy, Carlos.
  7. SCREW THAT GUY FOR HAVING A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN ME!!
  8. And TruffleShuffle was there to make a smartass comment about another poster!
  9. I don't want to say Tiger's done, but I don't know if he'll ever be "Tiger" again.
  10. Clay Matthews was playing with a leg fracture for a lot of the 2010 season. And he still had 17 sacks. I'm going to say it again. Clay Matthews is a mother-[expletive] BEAST.
  11. Try to find the guy, knock him out, then take his place. Then go with your heart.
  12. And also, I believe the last AB of Joe Carter's career was fouling out to Mark Grace in the one-game playoff in '98.
  13. It's because we got actual value out of that trade.
  14. Well, that's cool and all. But one doesn't really have anything to do with the other. Kind of. People dont give the Phillies [expletive] over that trade. I know the Phils have been much better than the Cubs since, but still. Im sure tther teams have also traded away prospects or young players who have turned out to be stars for guys who did little to nothing for them. I guess I don't get why this trade still gets constantly blasted several decades later, almost as if the critics are saying that Lou Brock was the one guy who could have taken us to a World Series. Well, I'm not saying Lou Brock alone would have taken us to a WS, but he wouldn't have been too bad on the '69 team.
  15. And then traded him to Texas when we didn't want to give him a well-deserved raise.
  16. I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in General Baseball Discussions so if a mod wants to move it that's fine. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/columns/story?id=6053505 Nice article on one of the most (in)famous trades in baseball history.
  17. This. I'm probably biased, but when Sammy was hot, there was nobody more fun to watch.
  18. Yes. And when was the last "temper tantrum" I've thrown here, exactly? It's been quite a while. Chill, dude. You seem hostile.
  19. Wow, I was simply pointing out a flaw in his logic there. Down boy.
  20. Derrek Lee and Ryan Ludwick will lead them to the ring I at least hope they win 82 games this year. Of all pro sports franchises, the Pirates fans (both of them) deserve a winning season and some hope. Completely disagree. They've sucked for 20 years. Big deal. Pirates fans are Steelers and Penguins fans, and their teams have won multiple titles since that time. So by your logic, Cubs fans can't complain about the lack of a championship in our lifetimes because most Cubs fans are Bulls and Blackhawks fans, and those teams have won championships in recent memory? That makes no sense.
  21. As nice as 7 in a row is, why do they have to do it now when there's no shot of a division title and they're only hurting their draft status? I just don't want there to be even the remotest chance at a respectable record where Hendry could weasel his way into yet another incompetent year on the job. Seven in a row would have been nice in April or May, guys. Just sayin'.
  22. Can we give them weapons, or will it just be hand-to-hand combat? I need to know if I'm going to organize the betting. are you kidding? you've got winner. Nah, I don't dislike either of them.
  23. Yikes. That's not good. He's gotta protect the franchise.
  24. Can we give them weapons, or will it just be hand-to-hand combat? I need to know if I'm going to organize the betting.
  25. 3 games for what? mlb doesn't have rules against playing poker and as far as i know, they don't have a personal conduct policy like the NFL, so the commissioner can't just decide to suspend guys who [expletive] up away from the ballpark. Like I said, that would be "at most." Bud can always pull that "best interests of baseball" clause out of his ass that he likes to reference but never use. Unless he's charged with some sort of illegal activity or broke some baseball rule all MLB is going to do is huff and puff and then not do anything.
