  1. So if we ignore the worst part of his season, his season looks better? I will never get tired of disliking these types of arguments. His season is his season. Tacking on his postseason numbers to show how close he got to recovering from the slump makes sense to me. Parsing out his pre-April 11 numbers does not. Actually, I think it does make a difference when you factor in he was facing the best pitching in baseball in the post season and had great numbers. That, and how many other guys start off the season slow? I mean DLee was pretty much awful in April every year. As was Sandberg, and I think Hank Aaron as well. Slow starts don't mean anything.
  2. Dude is a bowling ball. Guys just bounce off of him.
  3. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/19/the-extra-wild-card-team-might-not-be-the-only-change-to-the-playoff-format/ Good. That rule sucked anyway.
  4. I'm surprised that one passed to be honest with you.
  5. Note to self: If ever employed by Oklahoma State as a baskeball coach, never fly.
  6. Maybe a part of me is. I don't apologize for it.
  7. you dream about a child molester getting murdered in prison? I didn't literally "dream" about it, but I can't say it would sadden me in the least if it would happen.
  8. I'll have you know I've seen the ENTIRE series. :good: That makes me Mr. Expert Person.
  9. He's probably too much of a coward to do the right thing. More than likely. If that's the case he can slowly waste away in solitary confinement for the rest of his life. You can't put him in with the general population or he'd be killed rather quickly. lol A guy can dream, can't he?

  11. Now just get the Brewers to bring back the old "ball and glove" logo on a full-time basis and we're set.
  12. Hopefully the victims will be willing to testify and offset any decrease in his credibility. Apparently his TV interview with Costas so upset some of them that they're coming forward now. This could turn into a volume case, with a seemingly endless pool of crimes to draw from. If I was doing a dead pool, Sandusky would definitely be on it. I'd be surprised if he ever sees the inside of a jail cell. Not because he's innocent-- he's not. He's guilty as hell and will be sentenced to a very long time in prison-- but because he'll off himself before it gets to that point. Really, what are his options at this point? Go to prison in solitary for his protection or kill himself.
  13. Not really. If left up to the individual bowls, you'd probably get a good matchup instead of one-sided snoozers like Oklahoma/Connecticut. I'm not saying this is the perfect system-- far from it. I'm just saying it's better than what's in place now and could lead to better viewing as a fan. No, it would not be better. For example, this year Stanford would wind up in the Holiday bowl or some such nonsense because the Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl want to set up Georgia v. Nebraska or Michigan v. Texas, because those fans will buy more tickets. The Bowls need less power, or none if we can help it, not more. True. I could see that happening. No changes will happen til 2013 though, and these proposed changes don't have any teeth yet-- it's pretty much just thinking out loud. And the BCS folks are stubbornly resistant to change, so these changes probably have less than a 50% chance of happening anyway.

  15. Very interesting article. Apparently there's some talk among the BCS bigwigs to alter the system to where the BCS rankings would only determine who plays in the National Championship Game, leaving all the other BCS bowl pairings up to the actual bowls themselves. They're trying to eliminate things like automatic bids, as sometimes that doesn't generate the best matchup. The BCS would only determine 1 vs. 2, and we would no longer have things like unranked UConn in a BCS bowl game just because they lucked into winning the Big East. It's still not a 16-team playoff like it should be (all 11 conference champions and 5 wild cards is the only true fair way to go), but at least it could be better than the crap we've got now. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7248953/bcs-proposes-only-handling-national-championship-game-sources-say
  16. Might as well lock this one up now.
  17. About Berkman? About the move to the AL
  18. I'm sensing another DH debate coming.
  19. Astros fans (all three dozen of them) are piiiiiiiiiiised.
  20. I wonder if that's what he was talking about when he said he talked to police.
  21. I eagerly await the one-game playoff to get into the one-game playoff. Also, is there any announcement on just how the schedule will change (just how many IL, division, and outside of division games each team will have?)
  22. This might not seem like it belongs in this thread, but could it mean that the Brewers have un surprisingly officially been priced out on Fielder and Reyes? They're reportedly now looking at cheaper SS options like Furcal and Barmes, which I'd originally speculated could mean that they're trying to scrape enough coin for Fielder, but it could also mean they're actually being smart and filling the need they've had all along. I really don't see both Greinke and Marcum re signing, at least not this offseason, but definitely I could see one signing this offseason if they don't land Fielder or Reyes, which isn't looking likely and then signing Pena or Kotchman for 1B and a cheap SS and let McGehee and Gamel battle it out for 3rd. I heard they contacted Jimmy Rollins' agent as well.
  23. I would have preferred Maddux as well, but I'm willing to give Sveum a fair shake.
  24. The new owners got a $70 million discount off the purchase price of the team for agreeing to move them to the AL.
