  1. Will it eventually begin to turn against Theo and Co.? "Computer, show me the updated stats on Anthony Rizzo." "I'm afraid I can't let you see them, Theo." /2001
  2. I'm in favor of it, in this case. If Kerry wants to be here and it's reasonable, there's no issue. He's easily the most popular guy on the roster, and you have to give the fans someone to cheer for in what will probably be a lost year.
  3. psshh. Coward. I'll go ahead and say it. Anthony Rizzo will be a HALL OF FAMER! Screw that. Greatest of All-Time.
  4. If Kerry wants to come back at a resonable price, there's no reason not to have him back. After all, with the ragtag group that will take the field in 2012, you may as well give the fans at least someone to cheer for.
  5. we're going for the number 1 pick I'd be perfectly fine punting this season if it means building up a farm that can produce consistent talent and help us to be a perennial contender. After all, we've waited this long; what's another few years?
  6. Bagwell ought to be in as well, but good for Larkin.
  7. He's certainly not. The majority of baseball fans may get off on being withholding, but there's a sizable minority who think the HOF should be a bit bigger. I don't necessarily think the HOF should be a bit bigger, but there are certainly a few guys who have no business at all being in there (Rabbit Maranville, I'm looking in your direction). If you swapped out a few of those guys with Raines, etc I think it would be ok.
  8. Yeah, it was dumb to not go for the FG there, especially on the road. Granted, they got a safety out of it simply by happenstance, but that doesn't mean the decision to go on 4th and 1 that early in the game was any less dumb.
  9. That's why I was rooting for the Lions. I guess if I had my druthers I'd choose to face the Niners, but I really dont' want any part of either team.
  10. Hopping on this. Honestly, if you're going to punt this year anyway, why not throw a fan fan favorite a bone and give the people at least something to cheer for this year? Is it really going to break the bank? And yes, I'm aware Theo said that they weren't going to "punt" this year, but his moves say that he's doing just that, but also building for a very strong future.
  11. Theo also said Z would be given a chance to earn his way back onto the team, and then traded him to the Marlins. I'm not saying Theo can't get it done, and I'm not saying one way or the other if it'll be good for Kerry to be back on the team. I'm just saying that Theo's word can't be taken at 100%.
  12. When is Rizzo projected to hit the majors? Will he break camp with the team or be called up during the season, or will they wait a full year and bring him up next season?
  13. Wow, good on Theo and Jed for finally getting their man. I wonder if Theo's going to try to turn over the entire roster. If Hendry brought you here, you need to go! *that's hyperbole, I'm sure Castro, Soto, etc are safe* I wonder what else is to come. Theo's certainly putting his mark on the team.
  14. Now that Aramis and Z are gone, the only other lazy player on the team is Soriano.
  15. Look up about five posts. he had a week off, cut him some slack  It was two, actually. Felt like a day Well now you no longer have to worry, because now I'm back! Isn't that EXCITING?? :yahoo:
  16. I think there's very little chance Ryan Zimmerman will leave the Nationals. In fact, I'd be rather shocked. I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious as to why. Does he have a strong commitment to the team and/or city that I don't know about? Would he give a large "hometown discount?"
  17. Although I must say I will miss the 2-3 Zambrano pinch-hitting appearances per year. Those were always fun.
  18. Yeah this is a [expletive] blast. You're really this upset over this? The hand wringing over this is hilarious. A month or two ago (when there was a chance we'd compete in 2012), I would have hated this. But given the rebuild mode, there was really no reason whatsoever not to trade Zambrano. You can pay Z 18MM to pitch in a lost season and let him go at the end of the season, or you pay 15-16 million to Z and get back something, anything you might be able to use beyond this year. Hendry assured that if Z was going to be traded, it was going to be for next to nothing and we'd be paying for it. The question was whether keeping him made sense. In a year you're not going to compete, it doesn't make sense. If you're going to pay the money either way, you may as well just pay him to pitch, hope that he can be the Z we know he can be, then flip him for something of value before the deadline. At least then if you have to eat the rest of his contract you're getting more than Chris [expletive] Volstad.
  19. Yeah, I'm thinking Theo might be broken, you guys. :/
  20. Any word on how much money we have to eat, if any? I thought Theo was going to let Z earn his way back onto the team. If we're going to eat a ton of cash, it would have been better to just keep him, hoping he would have had a good first half and then trade him before the deadline when his value was higher. This seems like a Hendry move.
  21. I actually have a feeling that the Cin/Hou game will be a good one. And go Lions, then go winner of NYG/ATL in SF. Both the Saints and Niners scare the everloving crap out of me.
  22. The similarities between him and Andy Reid are a tad horrifying for me. i think andy reid is a really good coach and if bielema is the andy reid of college football, then that's pretty damn good. that said, andy reid definitely sucks at clock management. I think Bielema's a decent coach too, but his clock management has always been horrendous. It's a comparison that makes sense. He also has very questionable decision-making in big games. Last year's Rose Bowl he completely abandoned the run for no apparent reason in the middle of the game when it was working quite effectively.
  23. Look up about five posts. he had a week off, cut him some slack  It was two, actually.
