  1. Seriously. I don't get when even people that believe there should be instant replay in baseball always add, "But NOT for balls and strikes!" I would rather an ump have someone in his ear telling him what the K-zone said over any other replay they have in baseball. I think strike zones that differ between half-innings affect way more games than anything else. Are these people that don't want balls and strikes to be included thinking it will be some sort of challenge from the player? Just let K-zone call it. Let the ump stand there and he can give us the result. This. I don't buy any of this "it's part of the game" garbage. The strike zone should be the strike zone, no matter the umpire, the pitcher on the mound, the umpire's mood, or any other factor.
  2. That's sickening. Umpires should be forced to adhere to a standard zone. None of this "well, this guy calls it low, and this guy has a tight zone, and that pitch is a strike if you're a veteran pitcher but not if you're a rookie "crap. Standard zone for everyone, with reasonable deviation due to human error.
  3. I bet Theo's glad he got out when he did.
  4. Best of luck, Mark.
  5. ZOMG HOW CAN YOU CALL BALLGAME NOW! THERE'S STILL TIME LEFT!! But seriously, this team sucks.
  6. Structural damage revealed in his pitching elbow. Another one bites the dust. Not a good year to be a closer. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7814255/brian-wilson-san-francisco-giants-facing-season-ending-surgery
  7. I'm so glad that bunting tourney in ST paid dividends.
  8. Rey's HR was on Opening Day against San Diego IIRC.
  9. Owner has been found. Nothing to see here.
  10. Edit: nothing to see here.
  11. Wow. You're not lying with that thread title. That's highway robbery for the Indians.
  12. Moreland isn't bad. He and Pat don't have quite the chemistry that Pat and Ron did, but Keith Moreland is far more tolerable next to Pat than Dave Otto or Randy Hundley were. This is an unpopular opinion, but I wouldn't mind a booth of Pat and Steve Stone, only because I grew up with Steve Stone and Harry Caray on WGN and don't have anywhere near the Stone hate that some people around here have.
  13. Hahahahahah that sounds impossible Hahahahaha not really If you go back to the first year of the National League (1876), that's 136 years ago. Jamie Moyer has pitched in the majors for 25 years. 25/136 = 18.4%
  14. Jason Hammel of the Orioles is no-hitting the Twins through 7. edit: and Morneau leads off the 8th with a double to right. Nothing to see here, folks.
  15. They couldn't have even been bothered to take the football field down before they just abandoned the place?
  16. In other news, water is wet.
  17. Well I guess you can cross Votto off that list.
  18. Barry Larkin and Roberto Alomar played their entire MLB careers, retired, and were elected to the HOF during the span of Jamie Moyer's career. Also, he was the oldest pitcher in the American League... eight years ago.
  19. Well that kind of evens things out a bit...
  20. Both teams should get a possession, and then if the game is tied after that, next score wins.
  21. I still think both teams should be guaranteed at least one OT possession no matter what, but this is a step in the right direction.
  22. Magic is positive this is the right thing to do. Because if anyone knows about being positive..... ....too soon? Seriously, though, no sports franchise in any league is worth $2 billion. Not a single one.
  23. I didn't mind it, but I won't miss it, either.
  24. Hopefully I have better luck, injury-wise, than I have so far in one of my leagues. My 2 closers were Soria and Madson. Yeah. :(
