  1. I don't think Cub fans are paranoid. At this point, we just accept it as an inevitability.
  2. Last time I checked, you win with offense too.
  3. If you're going to use that argument, why not Travis Hafner then? He has a higher OPS, more HR, RBI, RC, and WS than Dye, and thats just from stats that Vance listed. This is a real tough choice, I'd have to wait to see the numbers at the very end of the year. I'm guessing that since a lot of the top candidates are DHs, they'll lose votes to guys like Jeter since he plays the field. Since Ortiz is so popular throughout the national media, that'll probably shy away voters from Manny. My list would have to be Ramirez Hafner Jeter Ortiz Dye
  4. How did you score that arrangement? Wow! My mother works with him, he took the whole office with him to the game. They had a blurb on cubs.com that Joe's brother got fifty tickets, so there was plenty of extras for me to grab one.
  5. I just got back from the game, sunburned and all. It was pretty cool, I went with Joe Giradi's brother (who is a doctor) and got to shake Joe's hand and get his autograph. He was a very nice guy, told security off when they tried to make us go to our seats. I would have talked to some of the Marlin players, but unfortunately all of the ex-Cubs and big names weren't near. It seemed like a tight strike zone, judging at least from fan reactions near home plate. Overall though towards the end of the game, after the play in RF and Williamson's inning, people were pretty sick of the mistakes. There were a few fights in the RF bleachers, but they seemed pretty quiet out there today.
  6. Agreed 100%. BTW, where did you sit? I was in the bleachers in left-center.
  7. Huh... I coulda sworn the Herald was in Arlington Heights. :-s Yeah, I've driven past the building a few times, and on rotoworld they call it the "Arlington Height's Daily Herald."
  8. Reguardless of what you thought of the man, that may be the tackiest thing that's ever been posted on this board. Yes, I agree, that is pretty classless. Insensitive, yes. Classless, yes. I just don't see the point in waxing poetic and fawning over the death of someone who if he wasn't a millionaire would be in jail. Why honor a man who cheats on and assaulted his wife and openly got away with both. I take it you have no problem with marijuana possession then? after all, if you did, then Darryl Kile is fair game, right? I believe I have heard you rant many times about any mention of Darryl Kile's death. I also believe I have heard you rant many times that McGwire is innocent until proven guilty of bad things. put the two situations together in one man, and this is how you act? noone is expecting you to wax poetic, but you are doing just the opposite. you are insulting and disrespectful about the death of a man who brought joy to millions. if you had a problem with Puckett and the allegations laid against him, that's fine. but if ever there was a time to shut your cakehole about it, that time is now. I don't think its fair to compare someone possessing marijuana to someone beating a woman.
  9. You forgot Williamson in that group. Except for Howry, I think he'd be the one to close over all those other relievers.
  10. Thanks for the insult, Mr. Run-On-Sentence. When you feel like discussing baseball and actually reading people's posts, then please respond. Nice impression you've left people on the site so far, unfortunately its not one portraying you as competent. Keep up the good work! See Vance's post for my opinion.
  11. Actually, the Reds have had a pretty good offense with Dunn. Its their pathetic pitching that has done them in. I don't see any way you can count the Reds failures against Dunn. Dunn's .900+ OPS has proven him as a difference maker.
  12. No, and I don't think it matters what Blanco does either. Don't you ever get tired of that joke?
  13. I agree with Rocket here, we need different people running baseball operations, not owning the team. I don't think a new owner would guarantee payroll going up. You can't be sure they wouldn't cut payroll either. Money hasn't been our problem.
  14. whatever. youre a sabr guy, that means you play fantasy sports all the time, while crying about what a better gm you would be than jim hendry. you forgot to somehow throw moneyball in there, even though it isn't relevant at all.
  15. Watch out with the Hawks. When they are playing well they can be really good. The cavs had some trouble with them tonight. We were down double-digits twice before pulling it out and beating them by 9 in the end. Isn't that true of any team in the league?
  16. FYI, this is a Cubs message board. fyi youre on my ignore list doesnt this post disprove that?? maybe i no understand ignore. perhaps he added him after posting that. You can see other people quoting those you put on ignore, thats most likely how he saw that post
  17. FYI, this is a Cubs message board. And...? I see plenty of Card fans here. I guess I forgot the rule that you can only be a fan of one team. This is a post about the A's, right?
  18. off topic, but Steve Smith's endzone celebrations are lame. Not the fact that he does them, just what he does is stupid. yes I'm bitter
  19. This is too hard to do with no timeouts
  20. where was that pass
  21. another big play please...
  22. We need a few more. yup
