  1. Why does it matter if your neighbor is a scout? How can he tell age better than anyone else?
  2. No, actually he sucked. Your assesment of his contributions suck. Burnitz played 160 games of solid RF. He scored 84 runs, hit 24 HR, and drove in 87 on a bad team. Yeah, with a .322 OBP and .435 SLG. Pretty bad for a corner outfielder. Didn't even come close to doing a "great job"
  3. With the Cubs' large fanbase, not really.
  4. any one know how far it went?
  5. I don't think we'd have much to lose by playing Pie in CF at this point.
  6. Soriano does not belong in CF. Soriano's defense (or lack thereof) is better hidden in a corner OF. Soriano's bat picked up after he was switched to LF (coincidence or not). The Cubs are playing their best baseball since. The Cubs jumped to 1st place in the standings. You don't f*** with 1st place in the standings. Should I keep going? What else could you say? Soriano to LF is obviously why we're in first, can't argue with that deductive reasoning.
  7. It would be hard not to improve on his play from the first half.
  8. Agreed, I just looked up Laird's numbers and they are pretty bad. I would rather take my chances with Kendall and Blanco than waste the Cubs top prospect on those guys. Has Pie's value tanked that bad, that his name is being brought up in trades for bit players? I think his value has done nothing but go up this year. He's a 22 year old tearing up AAA, who struggled in a small number of PA with the major league team. Given time he should adjust, which makes this trade all the more stupid considering we have Soto already.
  9. Sports talk radio is horrible. Although the hosts are usually pretty bad, the people that take what they say as gospel and repeat it when discussing sports in real life are even worse. The people who call in should have to pass an IQ test before they're allowed on the air. Its an orgy of stupidity.
  10. http://www.northsidebaseball.com :: Edit postltimoresun.com/sports/bal-osnotes0729,0,2973076.story]Link[/url] :x Although he was a beast for OAK in 06, I highly doubt Payton is the answer in the OF Payton was a beast for Oakland last year? He was decent against LHP, but was a pretty poor hitter overall.
  11. Its not worth whatever it takes to get Payton to upgrade to him over Pagan in CF. Not to mention Payton still has a year left on his deal. I don't see how this could be a good deal for us.
  12. I agree. He is a pitcher, there were no outs with the middle of your order coming up. soriano's hit was off the fence and marshall was barely moving. for someone who almost peed his pants about jones' baserunning last night, i can't believe you're cutting marshall slack right now. I would rather Sean take his time and still be able to pitch effectively. I am suprised your even watching this and not your Brewers. I mean after all your boyfriend pitched for us last night. well, you should be happy then, because marshall sure as hell took his time on that one. i guess quade should have been able to anticipate marshall's walking around the bases. and zing on the rich hill joke...you got me. I am about to drive to an Iowa Cub game and really get you. Wow.
  13. Why do we care what White Sox fans think?
  14. Sure, except this Ryan Church bats lefty, can catch a flyball and score from third on a ball hit to shortstop. The only valid argument in that post is that he is a left handed bat. Which we don't really need.
  15. Hopefully if it is Cedeno up, Riot will be the backup.
  16. I don't understand how he "seriously" injures himself while falling down trying to catch a popup. It's not like he overexerted himself. He basically just fell down like a wet noodle. He is a big boy, that is alot of momentum. But seriously, losing Ward and his 8 RBI's this season will just "kill us". Not good news at all. Cancel the season folks. While losing Ward isn't a big blow, citing his 8 RBIs is a pretty poor argument to make, especially considering how often he plays. In only 63 AB he has a .456 OBP and a .900 OPS. Sample Size Yeah, sample size is my point. He only has 8 RBI, but its only in 63 AB (79 PA) in which he's been pretty productive. I don't think he'll keep those numbers up, but the RBIs are a completely useless way to measure what he's done this year.

  18. I would like to see Pie and Cedeno starting every day at the major league level for the rest of this year. Its not like we have much to lose, Pagan/Jones and Theriot/Izturis aren't very productive as it is.
  19. Cliff Floyd's SLG sits at .400 after today's game. He better be going from 1st to 3rd if he's not going to start hitting for power
  20. spoke too soon vance, its tied up
  21. and they're about 1 start away from Zambrano having superior statistics again this season Not if Marshall does what he is capable of. If they both do what they are capable of, Zambrano will easily outperform Marshall. maybe. no, easily They're both capable of being aces. Marshall is capable of being Ted Lilly. Zambrano is capable of being one of the top five pitchers in the game. It's not even close. Lilly will never be an ace, Marshall might. Still Control is very important and Z doesn't posses it. hahahahahahahahahahaha
  22. I said he's my favorite, and he is good he just needs more playing time, something cedeno had plenty of last year and still sucked while murt led the team in BA Yeah, and then Murt completely blew during 2007 in the majors. Why does he get room for aches and pains and Cedeno doesn't? And honestly, how good do you think Theriot and Murton can be? I wanna hear this. good to close to great starters, neither will be great. i never made the aches argument for Murt. What in the blue hell has Theriot done to make you think that? Murton I can understand, kinda. Theriot though. Tell me why he's going to be anything more than a decent utility player. Tell me why he didn't get a regular stay in the majors until his age 27 season. Bad scouting, good hitting gives me the idea that and speed and D Just out of curiosity, how old are you?
  23. He has a .669 OPS.
